Thanks for the information. I can't wait to order a Star Wars cake for them!
Do you think it is worth calling back or maybe just less choices due to being at Chef Mickey's vs. GF restaurant?
Here are photos of my DD's cake. We ate at Citrico's and I asked for a Halloween theme. DD loved it! Once we were ready, they took it away to slice it and came back with the white chocolate witch on the plate for DD and we all had a slice with one of the decorations on top. It was white chocolate filling.![]()
Wow, they did a GREAT job!
How did it taste? Looks like fondent? Would mind telling us how much it was and was it 8' or 10'??
Thanks for sharing!!
It was a 10" with fondant and cost $85. It was absolutely delicious, very light and not too sickly sweet.
The cake...sadly Pumbaa free....

I got a birthday cake on my birthday delivered to our room at the Poly for my 40th. Gabby set it up 2 weeks in advance...she has a crazy work schedule and is only home a few days out of the month, so she ordered when she could, which might have been too early or too late considering the results. She asked for a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and wanted Pumbaa on it. She was told that it would be an extra charge, but was not a problem.
Well, the cake arrived while we were out at Epcot all day. The concierge staff or someone from dining must have arranged it for us. I opened the box and while the cake was pretty, I wondered what in the heck Gabby was thinking in ordering me a chocolate cake with pink decorative piping and a flower!?!?So, not my style. I thanked her for the cake and told her how pretty it was.....no, I would have NEVER said, "What were you thinking?" OMG, she was livid. She checked the receipt and the upcharge for Pumbaa was not there. She called and was told they didn't have time to make it a Pumbaa cake.
(EXCUSE ME?!!??!)
She asked why no one called her for an alternate decoration choice, they had no answer for her. I didn't know it but they had called her while we were at Epcot about delivery of the cake and made no mention of the change even at that point. I think that ticked her off more than anything. They had her cell number.....she ALWAYS has her cell phone on.
Two weeks advance notice was not enough for a cake with Pumbaa on it.For all I would have cared, they could have stuck a plastic toy on top and it would have been fine. Not that the flower wasn't pretty, but it wasn't what Gabby had wanted for me. Pumbaa is my favorite character for a variety of reasons. Even my car tag says Pumbaa on it.
After seeing all of the cool cakes in this thread for months/years, it was kinda disappointing, since I doubt that I will ever have another birthday at WDW.The cake was good, not the best ever, but good. We shared with the concierge staff at the Poly that night. I will try to post a picture of my "almost was a kick butt Pumbaa cake" in a few. I have heard that things get messed up if you order too early, but with two weeks to plan to make a Pumbaa or grab a cheap toy, you think they could have managed. Maggie

I feel your pain. I ordered 3 weeks in advance at the Poly for OHana. Look a few pages back for pictures. My parents belated 40th anniversary cake and it looked (and tasted) like a cheap grocery cake, full of pink roses.![]()
