Is this a Sign ???

I've been trying to order a cake for 2 freaking weeks and still can't get it done!

I've left 3 messages for Linda because every time I call the GF to order a cake they tell me I have to deal with Linda if it's a special order. But she never returns my calls. I am so frustrated with it.

So I thought I would go with somewhere else since I can't seem to get anywhere with the GF.

I called the MK line to get one for LTT. I called first on the weekend and got the message they are only open weekdays. So I call today since I'm home from work and again get a message only. I left a message and I'm hoping this time I get a call back.

If not I GIVE UP !

If anyone has any very recent "romantic" cake pics I would love to see them!! Trying to plan a cake for DF to be delivered to a restaurant or to our room during our honeymoon in January. Actually i'm trying to decide between chocolate mickey & tuxedo strawberries or a cake.... I'm thinking cake, and maybe a few pics could help persuade me!

I see you're staying at AKL. I love that resort. DH and I stayed there on our engagement trip. I know people have reported getting the "zebra" cake delivered to their room at AKL. It seems to be a bit fancier than the standard ones.

What I just learned in ordering our "anniversary topper cake" (white fondant with silver mickeys - If you go to page 147, look for "CatrinaBeach"'s post for pics) is that GF seems to be the only bakery that does the really personalized cakes. From what I was told in talking to the bakeries at WL and AKL was that they have the standard ones where you basically just pick vanilla or chocolate. Do you have any ADRs at GF?

On the other hand, I love the chocholate and tuxedo strawberries too, so I don't think you can go wrong. ;) Congrats on being a Disney bride!! Good luck planning. :)

I spoke to Linda 3 days ago....there is some kind of snafu as to who is supposed to be handling things...she was surprised that I was given her number. Be persistent!

My son will be celebrating his 30th birthday while we are there in Feb. I am wanting a cake for 4-6 people to be brought out while we are dining there. Are the cakes basic? I have spent 4 days trying to get through this thread during the spare time I have :rotfl: .

We ordered my FIL a chocolate and vanilla marble cake with buttercream in between the layers and on top and it was super tasty. The gorgeous flowers on top might have been edible if you didn't have taste buds but the rest of the cake was super and well worth the $45.

YAHHH!!! She called me back just now. She apoligized that I had such a hard time getting someone to take the order.

So I ordered a Marble cake with Dark Chocolate Mousse filling, with White Buttercream icing with a Christmas theme. I asked for some type of Christmas theme because it's our first time there for Christmas. I asked if they could put some kind of decorations on it that were edible that the kids could each have. She put me on hold and asked the bakery and the bakery lady agreed to work on it and put some kind of Christmas theme together. That she didn't know what yet but would work on it for me.

They are writing the words Magical Holidays on it.

It will cost 55.00 I think she said. Which is much cheaper than the other cakes I have ordered lol. Can't wait to see what they do with it !

After seeing all of the cool cakes in this thread for months/years, it was kinda disappointing,. Maggie
I know what you mean, Maggie. After spending the last year planning a mini-castle cake, based on the the fabulous cakes I've seen on this thread, this is what we got (see below). We had ressies at the tea room at the GF, and I was directed to the famous "Linda" for ordering our cake. Private Dining would *not* take the order. Linda was very difficult to reach and made me feel blown-off when I did finally talk to her. I had wanted a custom 10-inch cake, but she told me it had to be a 6-inch cake and the only flavor choices were chocolate or yellow. I asked for some icing flowers but they threw 2 little silk flowers on top, next to the castle that looks like it started to melt then was refrigerated again. I was VERY disappointed. At least we got the DDE discount on it. The waitress put the cake on a Royal Doulton plate which made it look a lot better (btw, we didn't get to keep the plate). We weren't hungry anyway so we had the cake boxed and my friend took it back to her room. She said it tasted great and was happy with it, but DH and I never ate the piece she cut for us -- I just couldn't bring myself to try it. I guess reading these boards raised my expectations too high. It was a 2 layer yellow cake with buttercream icing.

I have to say that from my one experience Disney cakes and Linda at the GF are highly over-rated, but I won't let it deter me from trying again.

I'm thinking of doing the chocolate s'berries. I'm confused on how this works w/delivery. We'll be staying at BWV and I'd love to have it on arrival. I know there's no guarantee about when we'd get in our room.

How do they handle it if they're sending it to your room?

I've seen a few cakes from Wilderness Lodge restaurants on the thread, but they've all been fairly simple. Does anyone know if there are a range of options available, or if it is just the vanilla/chocolate buttercream standards?

What I'm hoping to do is something like cake 10C on the first page of the thread, with yellow cake, strawberries in custard between the layers, and chocolate fondant, with very simple non-flowery decorations. Anyone know if WL can do this or if I need to be thinking about which dinner to order the cake for to get it from BW or GF bakery?

I had choc mickey and strawberries delivered to our room on our check in day.

I had to talk to private dining (in-room dining). They said I would have to be checked in for it to be delivered but I didn't have to be there so we went resort sight-seeing and when we got back (maybe around 4:30p - 5:00p) it was there!

Help! I am trying to get a cake delivered to our room at the CR after we check in saturday. I have been transferred back and forth and back and forth. Anyone know the right number for the bakery at the CR? (Which is where I have been told I need to call).

Thanks so much!

CR does not have a bakery that I know of. I believe when you want to order a cake for all restaurants and resort at WDW,you just call the cake hot line which is in the first post of this thread.

We just placed our order today for a cake at GF on Thursday! :) Chocolate BC with marble cake and dark chocolate mouse with a chcolate mickey and minnie bride and groom on top! :) For 39th Wedding Anniversary. I hope they like it! :)

When I called the cake hotline they told me I have to call CR, when I call CR they transfer me to the cake hotline. I am stuck in a neverending circle. :(

:yay: Just got off the phone with Blanche... from Wilderness Lodge, placed my cake order!!! Thank you for this thread, it could not have been easier. I already knew exactly what I wanted, 10 inch, marble, dark chocolate mousse, with chocolate ganache for icing. Well, I had wanted an 8 inch cake, but she said it goes from the 6" to the 10". I also had wanted a "theme decorated" cake, Star Wars or Power Rangers, but they only write on the cakes and nothing else. So, a little disappointed about that, but since we will be eating at the Whispering Canyon Cafe, I wanted to do his cake there so that hopefully they will sing happy birthday or something. The cake sounds delicious, and like WAY to much cake for 4 people. Luckily, it'll be our first day there, so I know what snacks will be for the next couple of days!!! If anyone else will be there December 6th, 2 pm, HELLO! :yay:

We ordered a birthday cake on the cake hotline for Le Cellier on Oct 18th. Worked perfectly and was exactly as ordered.

Waitress whipped it away before I had chance to get a good shot. But managed a good one when it was sliced and brought out to eat:

We had more than a few envious looks from other tables, and for good reason! It was by far the best cake I'd ever eaten. Chocolate cake with dark chocolate mousse, anything but bitter though. Incredibly rich and moist, none of us finished our slice. We took the remainder of it back to our villa, I had a slice for breakfast another day but sadly as we were so over stuffed from dining plan meals, we never finished it.

Can't remember the price I was given on the phone and someone else in the party picked up the tab so I can't give an accurate price.

Wow! I just found this thread and am only through a few pages of gorgeous cakes! I can't wait to order one for our trip in June. It won't be anyone's birthday or anniversary, but maybe just a surprise for everyone! Now, how to choose!!:goodvibes

Did you happen to find out about any other options? I'm still trying to find out if the strawberry & custard filling is available for cakes from WL, so I can decide if I want to get the cake delivered to our room with DS's gift basket or if I should try to get it for dinner at Poly or GF.
