Official Birthday/Anniversary Cake thread Part II

Has anyone tried the "NEW" Sara Lee cakes? Are they any good?

Just a note, as it turns out, about the only place that is switching to Sara Lee cakes is the Magic Kingdom - all the other parks, and the resorts, have their own bakeries, so they continue to make their own frozen 6-inch cakes. I am going to try a Sara Lee cake on my trip in September and report back - can you wait that long? :rotfl:

I've been hearing a lot of people mention fillings and icings that I haven't even heard of! Is there like an official list?

I posted this a couple pages back. It is a list of all the cake and filling flavors available for wedding cakes made by the Grand Floridian Bakery - cakes made by the other bakeries may not be available in all these flavors.

Also, who do I talk to about having that delivered to Teppon Edo during our dinner? Do I talk to my hotel the day of to make sure everything is arranged?

You only talk to the hotel if the cake is being delivered to the hotel. Since you're dining at a restaurant, call the Cake Hotline number listed on the first page of this thread and follow the prompts until you hear Epcot, then Teppan Edo. :thumbsup2

Thanks so much for the info! Is it possible to have a cake made by the Grand Floridian bakery just so I can get certain fillings and then have it delivered? It sounds like they have a much more extensive list. Although, it's a birthday cake not a wedding cake.

Read a post about how Sara Lee cakes taste & look at Coral Reef: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1857118 - It's post #6.

What the poster said was "After our meal the cake I ordered was served along with candles and a chorus of Happy Birthday. It was a fantastic experience and worth the calls, e-mails, more calls. Oh and by the way. The cake was the six inch dreaded Sara Lee. It was chocolate/chocolate, decorated with strawberries and chocolate Happy Birthday signs. It was moist and delicious, not frozen or dry. We were very pleased. "

PLease forgive my question if it's a repeat but I'm new to this. My wife and I are celebrating our 25th on Oct. 1st, by having dinner at Fultons (we went to the Empress Lilly for our honey moon now it's Fulton's). Are you suggesting that I can pre-order a cake and have it served at Fultons for our dinner?? If so would you kindly walk me through the procedure to order it. Again I apologize for being new to this.

GF makes cakes for guests staying at the resort or eating in one of its restaurants only. No delivery, no pick up. :-( It's a good excuse to eat at one of their fab restaurants though!

I actually just changed our reservations to Victoria and Albert's! I think that i'm going to get that awesome castle cake then...It is vanilla flavored?

And I thought that Disney doesn't do carrot cakes...

We arrive on a Saturday night (offsite-Oct 11), and my son's birthday will be the 17th. We'll celebrate at Ft. Wilderness. I assume the Boardwalk Bakery is pretty busy, but five days should be enough time to call ahead for a special order. Or maybe is isn't. I have no idea.

Oh, and where do I park to pick up the cake?

Maybe I should just research Orlando-Kissimmee bakeries...

I love that I can ask really specific questions from you guys. Thanks so much.

I would order it now or the sooner the better. I know for my daughters wheat allergy I notify them when making ADRs and they request 48 hours min.

Nevermind. Instead of looking for an answer in the search forum before posting, I should have glanced at the ginormous cake thread in front of my face.

Sidewalks I moved your post here both to help you find the answer and if someone else has the same question it is here!

Hope that helps

Updated first post to include the new info on flavors at the grand floridian. If anyone has any other updates, please feel free to PM me

thanks everyone!:thumbsup2

The solution? They ran to the MK bakery, grabbed a full cake worth of the slices that are sold. Then they ran it to the kitchen and smoothed out the frosting as well as possible. Threw some writing on top and delivered it to us.

Looks Yummy - Im glad it worked out for you. Really - what other theme park in the world will run around collecting slices like that. Even though they screwed up - you have to give them some credit - :)

Does anyone have a picture of the Indiana Jones Cake?? I can't find a picture. Thank you ;)

Here's a picture of our fantastic cake from the California Grill on Friday night. It was EXACTLY what I wanted!

Whip- you are so right, they really went above and beyond! The cake was delicious!!! And since carrot cake is the only thing my 15 likes it was super to be able to have it there for him.

I guess I tried to make the post a litttle discouraging so people don't try to order a carrot cake for the MK restaurants. It was definetly not something they usually do, not ever do it more like it.

The cake was wonderful! They were so sweet to help us with it, but I think it might be the first and last carrot cake LTT ever has for a customer.

I believe the only flavors available for the castle cake are vanilla, chocolate and cheesecake. I'm sure someone will correct me if there's another option. :goodvibes

Having droooled over both cake threads I wonder if anyone could help me out? Last year we were in WDW for my birthday and I had a Princess cake from Akershus, while it was ok it wasn't fantastic and I swore never to buy one again, however, we have now booked to go in February and it is my son's turn to celebrate his birthday and all he wants is a 'surprise' meal with a 'surprise' cake.
:lmao:

My two options that we have booked for the early part of our stay are either Crystal Palace or Hoop de doo. Has anyone had a cake from either of these recently and what did you get? :thumbsup2 I am guessing that the choice from MK will be better.

Thanks (DS will be 11!)

Are there icing choices for the cakes??? Buttercream, Ganache, Cream cheese etc... I saw cake and filling choices but no icing info. Thanks. Also if we are at the FW Cabins can it be delivered to the cabin???

i'm going to get us an "all white" mini castle cake for dessert at narcoosees - white chocolate castle topper, white frosting, white cake, white filling!
