Not really sure if I have been mis-informed or not but I just spoke with Chef Dan at Pop Century last week and was told that my cake can be delivered to our room at no additional charge :confused3 I guess we will see what happens in sept...I have 2 cakes, one going to our friend's room and one going to ours. I will report on what happens when I return...I guess I better be prepared if something happens it is not possible.

The general rule - every once in awhile there is an exception- seems to be that deluxes offer in room delivery. What is odd is that when the cake hotline first started, a number of people reported being able to get cakes delivered to values and mods ... but Disney seems to have soured on that idea during this year just as they are now discouraging customization. Maybe the delivery proved too difficult and expensive. It's really a bummer for those guests staying at values and mods.

In any case, you are not the first person to report this so I doubt it had anything to do with how you asked. :-)

This is good to know. I will be at POP the end of Aug. and wanted a cake delivered to the room. I will call and see if I get told yes also. What kind of choices did he give you on cakes?

Pop Century has their "custom" cakes made at The Boardwalk Bakery and they are sent to Pop Century...after I found this out I spoke with Sandra Collier at Boardwalk Bakery and just sent her pics of cakes I liked to see if she could or could not do them...she also told me what sizes were available in each and what the prices would be. When i called Pop, I actually spoke with a Chef there...Chef Dan. I HOPE he gave me the correct info...I want to surprise our friends and my husband with anniversary cakes (our trip encompasses both couple's anniversaries!)...if all else fails, I can have the front desk leave a message on voice mail stating there is a package that our friends need to pick up at the front desk. Let me know what YOU find out...i am sure I will worry about this for the next 59 days! :lmao:

Thanks for all the details. I will be sure to post what I am told after I call them. I did not know the Boardwalk did their cakes. I am hoping I can get the Mickey Head cake.

:goodvibes
We'll be staying at WL in just under two weeks. We're celebrating DGpa's 65th birthday as well as DS7 bday. I'm thinking a cars cake or pirate mickey for DS and a Dumbo cake for DGpa. We have ADR's at GG and CRT, but I selfishly would rather enjoy the desserts they provide with the meal and have the cakes delivered to our room at WL.

??Just wondering other opinions on this & others' experiences with having cakes delivered to rooms. I was hoping it would be delivered while we're out as a surprise for when we return.

and

??has anyone every ordered a Dumbo cake?

Thanks so much!:dance3:

WL only does sugar flowers on their cakes, but from what I understand this cake can be delivered to the room. If you go back to the first thread, you can see some of the WL sugar flower cakes. If you want a Cars or Dumbo cake, you may have to order at a restaurant and take it back with you.

What type of cake do people normally get for their honeymoon? I want to get one for my fiance on our honeymoon, and I am tossing around a few ideas in my head. I was originally thinking of getting the castle cake for her, but then I saw the cake with both Mickey and Minnie embracing on top and now I think that may be what I want. Does anyone know what that topper is called with Mickey and Minnie? Are there any other toppers with two characters embracing such as Cinderella and Prince Charming? Oh and by the way, we are staying at the GF ... I don't know if that makes a difference in terms of what cakes I can order.

THANKS!

All I mainly want to know is in order to get a cake delivered to our room after checkin but order it before we get to Disney do we have to call the cake hotline or the resort itself. Im sure SOMEONE has to know this answer because I've seen cake pics on here where the cake has been delivered to the room. It would work the same way for all resorts.

We stayed at AKL in May and I called the resort directly and spoke with In-Room Dining prior to our arrival. I gave them our check-in date and a rough estimate as to the time (not sure that they needed that) and was told that after we checked in they would be notified by the front-desk and our goodies would arrive shortly thereafter. We checked in, got up to the room and then within 15 minutes we got a call to see if we were going to be there for the delivery. If you do this they can put the charge on your resort bill and have you sign for it when they deliver it. Be forewarned that they will have already added a 18% "delivery" charge to the cost of your goodies so if you don't read the receipt you might be tipping twice.

This was what we had delivered:

The stand holding the AKL sign as well as the sign were chocolate and it was all very good. My DH is still talking about, and craving, the oatmeal cookies that were on there.

I absolutely LOVE your cakes!:worship: The mini castle cake on top of the layer cake is a wonderful idea. Was the cheesecake tasty? I'm so glad you got your Minnie Mouse cake, and your Minnie bride and Mickey groom cake, so lovely. Was everything what you expected it to be? If it was you have given me hope.:thumbsup2 Thanks so much for the pics.:yay:

PrincessMommyof3,

Your pics are fantastic! They all look amazing! I'm having such a hard time deciding what to get on our trip!

Thanks for sharing!

Thats so cute! How much was that and what did you exactly order..otherwise the name of the package of the candy and cookies you got? And thanks for the info. I'll call them and see what happens. Also when you checked in, did you have to tell them at the front desk you ordered something from in room dining or did they already know?

I LOVE THAT!! How much was it? Did you call the cake hotline or Debbie from coral reef? Also did they wrap up the cake afterwards and were you able to keep it there at coral reef until the park closed?

All the cakes were DELICIOUS!!!! I loved the cheesecake - it was soooo creamy. The 2 layer castle cake was suppose to be all white but it was still good - I love chocolate too! I expected Minnie to be the entire cake but it still was cute and my DD loved it. I have a pic of her pushing DS away from it - she didn't want to share. :rotfl: I actually e-mailed pics for 3 of my cakes: M/M bride and groom, SW lego and Sorcerer Mickey because I wanted them personalized with names.

It's tough choice but at least this thread gives you some great ideas. Enjoy!

The cake was $33. I called Debbi and e-mailed her the pic. Between our 3 kids and our 6 cousins joining us, there were no leftovers.

Hi Guys
I would be grateful for the opinions of the knowledgable cake gurus on this thread!!!
Here is my story
We are celebrating DS's 9th Birthday during our Dec trip. We will spend the day at DS's favourite park (AK) and then go to Epcot for dinner at Coral Reef and for illuminations
Ihave a diver and personalized menu organized with Debi and thoughts are now turning to the cake
Reading through the thread, I notice a fair number of people who have had a few problems with getting the cake they want, where they want it, so I was wondering if it might be safer to order from the Board walk Bakery and me leave AK a little early, collect the cake and deliver it to CR before meeting my party at the restaurant
Does anybody know what time Boardwalk Bakery closes?
Can BB perdonalize cakes?
Do they have characters with a wide variety of characters?
How early must I order a cake for pickup?
Has anybody any pictures of cakes the BB offers?
Any information gratefully recieved!!!!
Thank you guys!!!

I would also like to know how much this is and hoe to order it!!! Gosh, I'm being demanding tonight!!!

From Jim Hill Media:

"Every possible avenue for cost cutting / increasing revenues at the resort is now being explored. Take – for example – the birthday cakes that you can request at WDW’s sit-down restaurants. These six inch beauties (Which Disney charged $12.50 for) used to be baked right on property over at the Contemporary and the Boardwalk.

Well, no longer. In order to save money, the Mouse has now farmed out production of WDW's birthday cakes to Sara Lee. Which Disney is using an excuse to jump the price of these cakes from $12.50 to $21.00."

That's craziness!!! Not only that they'll let someone else make them but the price jump!! Before I found this thread, I'd asked for one of the little frozen (didn't know!) cakes for dinner. Now of course we won't be eating that! But when I asked about it, I was told the price...wonder what would happen when I got the bill???

Yikes!!

PrincessMommyof3-Where did you order your cakes from (sorry if I missed it!!!). Were they all delivered to the different locations or did you have to see that they made it to the proper place at the proper time??
TIA!
