**Official August 2016 Check In Thread**

I was super excited to see that Photopass news too. Now I'm debating just upgrading to the lower level AP for our trip instead of the one that includes Photopass... Need to have a conversation with hubby when I get back home.

I'm down to 2 days, and have moved from excitement to anxiety. I suddenly feel like we have a million things to do and not enough time to do it in. Plus it's hard for me having my kids and one of my dogs leave for my sister's tonight. She lives a pretty good distance away so it was more time effective for her to take them this evening. Tomorrow we drop out other two dogs off. I'm also anxious because my friends have been having bad travel experiences recently. I know once we're through security at the airport my excitement will come back.

I just cancelled our lunch ressie at Ariel's Grotto. Princesses aside, I can't justify spending $160US (over $200CAD) on lunch. Esp when one of my kids is a picky eater. So right now we have 3 ressies for our Disneyland day and no ressies for our DCA visit. Guess we'll be doing quick service at DCA all day. Heck, Carthay Circle is cheaper than Ariel's.

I think it's pretty easy to knock out a meet and greet with at least three Princesses in Fantasy Faire, plus a bonus Princess is usually meeting right next to the bridge, and you can even throw in a Tangled or Beauty and the Beast show at the Fantasyland theatre over in Disneyland within a few hours one morning. You know- create your own Princess Morning theme and go for it! Maybe get a fancy pastry at Jolly Holiday for breakfast and some chocolate milk on the way. Sounds so fun, I might do it myself! The only problem is... rather than going with an awestruck princess, I'll be dragging around my somewhat embarrassed husband! :P

I will recommend lunch at Paradise Garden Grill and/or Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta (for your picky eaters)! PGG has delicious skewers with your choice of sauce served with rice, flatbread and crispy refreshing cucumber salad. I don't know why they aren't super packed like Bengal BBQ!? They actually just opened this place back up after a brief hiatus (not a refurbishment...) so I hope it becomes popular enough to stick around and not turn into a burger joint. Plus the seating area is shady, pretty, spacious, not crowded, and has intermittent live music. BP&P next door has the same pizza as Pizza Planet in DL and salads, for picky eaters. The beer stand and frozen drink stands are nearby. And the bathrooms are convenient and usually not busy! It's really my favorite place for lunch in DCA, can you tell? :D

I hope everyone from our little August group that has already arrived are are arriving shortly have great trips!!!

We're here now just about to end our 3rd day. I wanted to report back on the dessert party. It was worth it! Even if you like none of the desserts (I liked the tart, cheeses, and grapes more) the seat is worth it! It was nice not to join the mad rush for WOC fast passes in the morning, or the lines, or to stand during the performance. We took a low table and could see perfectly. We could hear a person at the next table complaining about all aspects, but we and the couple we were seated with thought it was wonderful.

Hope the time passes quickly for those still waiting, and those on/about to leave have a great time!

A little under 4 weeks til we are there! I hate to wish the month away but COME ON end of August lol Hope everyone going this month has a great time!! Going to be a little bitter sweet with several things ending like PTN and Disneyland Forever Fireworks (and the current WOC theme). Guess we're all pretty lucky we get to experience them before they are gone forever!

We are 12 days out.....so much to do to get ready! We are usually so organized; however, this summer has been busy. Planning aside our trip is paid for and we have tickets in hand.....thats all we need!

Yesterday marked 3 weeks until we step foot into Disneyland. So much to still get ready. I have been undecided whether or not to get Disney GCs from Target this time. I might get a few. Trying to get my 19 year old daughter ready for her year in Japan and planning this vacation before she leaves has been a bit more than I bargained for. I am pretty sure I will be ready in 19 days (when we actually begin the driving part).

With all of the recent announcements, I wanted to say that I am thankful that Disneyland now offers the 1 week Photopass and that the Fireworks, Parades and such will still be the 60th Anniversary. We didn't get to go last year, so pretty excited to see it all for our first time. Plus, one of my daughter's loves Tower of Terror and is sad to see it going, so she is glad she gets this chance to ride it again.

Have fun everyone!

Checking in!! Just got word today that I will get to visit on 8/20 for the day. I'm from the East Coast and have been to DL once, for a day (long story) so I'm excited to go back, even if only for a day!
