Ugh.... If I knew how to post a picture I would and if I figure it out I will. :)

But there are two gnomes, one is English (he kind of looks like he just came out of The Game of Thrones....) and the other one is German (he's wearing liederhosen and carrying sausage :rotfl2:). They are really very cute. Now I just need a garden.....:p

You were given garden gnomes for Mother's Day and you don't have a garden????

lol, now THAT is funny!!! :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

The little German fella sounds adorable tho :goodvibes .

Well, I have a backyard (the size of a postage stamp) with a patio and a tree. I usually buy planters with flowers. Gardening is really not my thing.

I'm liking my gnomes on my kitchen counter though. Maybe they'll stay in the house.

Oooohhhh...got to answer this one. And any help is much appreciated. I need a dressy outfit for DD. I have a dinner ADR at Akershus for my girls and I...one DD chose it. My DDs are 15 (twins). I thought the picture would be a nice keepsake to remember our mother/daughter trip by. I hope to dress up a little for the picture. One DD loves to dress up and she is good to go, though she will likely try to add another dress/skirt to her wardrobe for this picture. But my other DD, tomboy DD, HATES to dress up. She does not like: tighter girl fit tops, v-necks, scoop-necks, tanks or spag strap, real short or tight sleeves, skirts that are long or too short, dress pants or capris. See my dilemma. Dressy clothes shopping with her is a nightmare and there will sometimes be, even at 15, tears over it. She needs to dress up at school sometimes (for some softball away games and for doing speeches or presentations in English)...so we do need a nice outfit that she can wear for those occasions as well. She has a bunch of things that I've bought her but she won't wear them. Mother's Day we went to brunch and it was misery trying to get her to get dressed and out the door (and that ended in tears too). Any ideas? Where I can get things a little less 'girly' but yet not 'old lady-ish'?

Gap has a lot of dressy clothes that are not too "girly." What about a pair of khaki skimmers and a buttoned shirt or even a shirt dress? My DD has a lot of their clothes and they are classic without being too much, if that makes sense.

DH reminded me last night about another item to add to our "to buy" list before we travel:

Tim Hortons coffee, in the little single-serve brew packs :surfweb:

There's nothing better than starting every day of our vacation with a cup of our beloved Timmies as we soak up the view from the balcony:

:cloud9: Wish I were there right now!!!!

Regarless of how hard we try, we're just not Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks fans. Its Tim Hortons or bust.

Do you bring your Tasimo or Keurig? I have been trying to figure out want to do for our morning coffee as we are not in a villa this time around so buying groceries is not on the list.

Which Resort is this??

I made my Target run tonight for my June trip (18 days to go!:) I was able to use a prescription transfer code to save an additional 5% on my Disney gift cards, so I bought $500 in Disney gift cards for $451.25! I just wish I had the spare cash to have bought $1000 more to pay for the dining plan for August. I also bought my wet wipes to clean up after those messy Mickey bars and dole whips, and a few items for my toiletry bag. I found a really cool shirt for DS 10 to wear to SWW. It has Darth Vader in a swingset. 18 days to go!

Does anyone know if Canadian Target stores sell Disney gift cards????

Sorry! I guess I should have been more clear ;).
It's hair extension that attaches with a flower clip that has a switch for fiber optic strands that light up!

That is so cool Thanks!

They don't. :(

But if you have the CDN Target credit card you can have the 5% off in the US on gc. I was told that it doesn't work with the CDN debit card.

We bring the Tim Hortons packets (the pre-measured ones that make one full pot in a standard coffee maker).

We have a two bedroom, two bathroom villa at the Sheraton Vistana Resort, which is offsite (just around the corner from DTD). So we have a full kitchen with all the comforts of home....coffee maker included! :thumbsup2 All we have to pack are the coffee and the filters and we have happy mornings all arranged :rotfl: .

Love reading this thread! I wish I was better at posting in time with the topics, though.

An earlier QOTD was about sunscreen preferences, and I just got my June Good Housekeeping magazine, wherein the GH Research Institute tested and rated sunscreens!

For Mineral lotions ("Designed to sit on top of skin, these potions deflect UV rays, making them ideal for anyone who's sensitive to sunscreen."), they picked Aveeno Natural Protection Broad Spectrum SPF 50 ($11 for 3 oz.) and CeraVe Broad Spectrum SPF 50 ($17 for 3 oz.).

For Chemical lotions (“These are speedily absorbed and rely on UV filters to soak up the sun’s radiation so it won’t damage your skin.”), they picked No-Ad Sport Broad Spectrum SPF 50 ($10 for 16 oz.) and Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50 ($10 for 6 oz.).

The last category, Spray formula (“It’s convenience in a can, but you’ll need to make several passes to ensure coverage.”) had one pick: Neutrogena Wet Skin Spray Broad Spectrum SPF 50 ($12 for 5 oz.).

I’ve bought the No-Ad sunscreen before, and I think it works well. My kids like the spray sunscreen and I typically buy Coppertone Sport SPF 30 for them, plus Neutrogena face stick sunscreen SPF 50.

Sunscreen is on my Disney shopping list, for sure. We'll need it before August, though, since my kids are counselors at the YMCA day camp. I've been stocking up on travel size items (toothpaste, wipes, laundry detergent, Downy, etc.) and I put them in my Disney bin, where I keep things I only use at Disney.

I just signed up for the Target debit card, too, so I can save 5% on Disney gift cards. I like the idea of buying them in chunks between now and the trip, and hopefully I can limit my expenses while we're in the parks by using the prepaid cards.

Oh Wow I didn't know you could buy the single packets..and no problems having them in your suitcase??? Now seeing DH only wants to bring carryons:scared1: I wonder if I could have them but seeing they are liquid it shouldnt be a problem.

There's no problem with packing them in our suitcases as there's no liquid. They are the packets found here:

http://shop.timhortons.com/catalogue/Details.aspx?categoryId=3&productId=75

(except, we don't have to buy a case of 48.....we can buy them in any quantity at our local Tim Hortons)

In regards to the Target card, would it be silly to get the Target card just to get the 5% off on gift cards? We aren't doing the dining plan and I was going to get gift cards for that. I have a couple credit cards, all of which I fully pay off monthly and never accrue interest on. We dont really go to Target much, but I would love to get the savings on the GCs.

I was cruising around the Walmart.com website the other day, and they have SPF 110 sunscreens!! I couldn't believe it! Anything above 60 is hard to find here in the Great White North (though we can usually get Banana Boat's SPF 100 if you buy early in the season and know which store to look in) but 110 must be something new for summer 2014.

Of course....Walmart.com won't ship to Canada, and Walmart.ca doesn't carry it. D'oh! :headache:

My lily-white boy has already endured his first sunburn of the season (has his first outdoor track meet of the season last week on a blisteringly sunny day), bad enough that he's peeling like an onion right now. And that was with the SPF 100. I think I'll be looking for a short sleeved rashguard for him for August.

I'd do it. 5% on $1500 is a cool $75. That's a nice chunk of change to allocate to something extra special for your vacation.....an extra character meal, souvenirs, or even a lounger rental at one of the waterparks!

I specifically chose the DEBIT card because I always use my debit card at Target anyway, so since the Target debit card is linked to my checking account, the money comes out of the same place and I save 5%. I didn't want another credit card, so I see this as a win-win.

For me it'd be a little silly to do that if you don't really go to Target, but to each his/her own!

Though you can get discounts if you have a store card for big bulk places (Sam's Club, BJ's Wholesale) so that's what I plan on doing.

I haven't checked out Gap in a while...good idea...thanks!

QOTD:

What vacation-specific items do you still have to purchase for your trip?

Great question! I still need to get quite a lot, though I have been storing stuff away in the laundry room when I am coming across stuff. We still need another frogg togg towel. Or possibly two. I really don't want the girls to be fighting over who gets the towel. I thought I would be able to cut one in half long-ways, but they are smaller than I thought. My hubbie needs a new book bag and I have been looking for one of those one strap sling book bags that goes across your body. Shop rite had dried blue berries, cranberries, cherries for .99 a bag so,I begun my snack stock pile, but I still need a lot more. Target has these healthy fruit smoothie packs which actually has protein in them. Great to hold the girls over until we get to a breakfast reservation. Sunblock too... Lots and lots of sunblock :)

My DD and I are leaving August 9th and staying at POR. Our first time ever on site. A friend talked me out of the budget hotels and to try this moderate resort. We are so excited. Our first time with early morning and evening hours, no car rental. We got the Quick Dining plan, so I won't be worrying about money the whole time. I got the suitcase out last night and started putting stuff in that we might forget, lol. Jumping the gun just a little

I'm a little worried about the bus system. is it crowded in August?

also does anyone have the link to the thread that explains the new fast pass plus system? TIA
