My DD and I are leaving August 9th and staying at POR. Our first time ever on site. A friend talked me out of the budget hotels and to try this moderate resort. We are so excited. Our first time with early morning and evening hours, no car rental. We got the Quick Dining plan, so I won't be worrying about money the whole time. I got the suitcase out last night and started putting stuff in that we might forget, lol. Jumping the gun just a little

I'm a little worried about the bus system. is it crowded in August?

It is crowded, but I've only ever had real problems with busses and crowds right before until right after a park opens/closes. If you decide to leave right at closing/right after fireworks (depending on the park) you'll be in a mob of people. But I've found it to be like that at those times no matter the time of year. They usually double up on busses at those times and they move fairly quickly. You may end up having to stand on a bus but the rides aren't that bad - the longest is about 25 minutes depending on traffic and such.

If you're leaving in the middle of the day to go back to the hotel to relax it shouldn't be too much of a line.

what's a chilly pad?

My assumption is they mean these - they're made to go cold when wet to help keep your body from overheating.

Was it the same seller? If not I'd say that's why, otherwise maybe the other colors are more rare lol??

ok, I'm mostly caught up on this thread. glad I found it.. my famil is already tired of hearing my plan of the dad :rotfl2:

I can give you our ADR list, but quite honestly, it'll likely change.. its already changes at least dozen times :hyper:

just ordered chilly pads, they sound amazing! I wish I knew about these when I was still getting hot flashes

We're so not paid in full yet lol. We will be, come time. I only have one more payment to make for my half of it though! We've been having some major problems with the website and getting through on the phone has taken a toll on my family's anytime minutes. It's not just me -my dad had a lot of trouble making his final payments for his part too.

BUT - I think we've finalized our meals! :Pinkbounc

We upgraded our meal plan and plan to take every advantage of it. I posted all about it in my PTR over on that board but here are my new, shiny, FINALIZED ADRs! (Thanks, Disney180, for the input while we were still making them!)

I know, I know, it's not MGM anymore, but when I'm doing shorthand in emails back and forth to Jem about our trip or anything Disney related, I automatically type it out and this is just c+p'd right from the email where I finalized everything.

the crowd calendar doesn't look to bad for 8/9-8/19. Having never stayed on site before, do you guys always used the park being Early Magic Hours and Evening hours? I used to avoid those parks when we were offsite because the crowd calendar said they'd be busy with resort guest. How do you feel about them? They seem like a great thing

Personally, I love EMH. We generally take advantage of evening hours more than early hours. When we're at WDW there's no bed time. We can sleep at home! :rotfl2: DS has never been and early riser and DD is as pleasant in the mornings as I am, so we don't usually arrive at a park before 9:30AM.

Any advice to keeping an 11 month old cool in a black stroller in August heat? I have the city mini jogger...we love it because its so light weight and plan on bringing it with on our upcoming August trip. We've already purchased a stroller fan...does anyone have any ideas or items you think I should purchase? Im so concerned the strollers is going to be a hot box for my DD! TIA!
