Ah yes, the ADR's. That's always fun! I am thinking we probably won't have too much of a problem since we only want to make 3 or 4 during our 10 day trip and none of them are really super popular....except BOG, which we want to do again (LOVED it in April), but if we don't get it, we've done it before.

We're only looking at a few ADRs, too (with only three nights on this res, not much other choice!). But, we are hoping to do one or two new things, and for us, this includes the Hoop Dee Doo Review (might as well, we're spending the night in FW!):faint:

I just don't know which seating category I'll be asking for...:confused3

On our most recent trip to WDW last month, we did lunch at BOG, and we liked it so much that is has now earned it's way into regular QS dining rotation for my family! (Sorry, Ray!) However, I'm having trouble seeing how a BOG dinner is that much better than lunch there. Can anyone enlighten me?

We did not have lunch at BOG, so I can't compare it to dinner. However, I can tell you that we loved dinner there. My whole family said they want to eat there again. My picky eater, DD10, loved the food to. She found a couple of things she was willing to try. If you're celebrating something, they may bring you the grey stuff. It was fun to get to meet the Beast too.

I'm still not on the list. I'm feeling left out. :lmao:

8/16-24 Currently POP but am hoping the stars will align and I can do a split between POP and WL. :goodvibes

:scared1: I don't want anyone feeling left out! Sorry I missed ya! You've been added. :goodvibes
And here's a little pixie dust hoping you get your split! pixiedust:

Hello everyone, I guess I can now join the party :cool1: .

We just returned from our second consecutive August visit. You can check out my trip report (click on the link in my signature) if you're interested. :)

We have recently (as in YESTERDAY!!) purchased a week at our beloved Sheraton Vistana Resort, so we will be returning in August 2014 before our son begins college. Not sure yet of exactly which week in August our travel dates will fall...our preference is the last week of the month, but it may be the 2nd last week if he has any freshman events duing that last week that take precedent.

We will fly from either Syracuse or Buffalo. Just waiting patiently (okay, not so patiently :rolleyes1) for Jetblue to release flights for that time period.

I will keep you posted on dates. popcorn::

Welcome!! Let me know when you finalize your plans! So, your the resident August expert? Do tell...popcorn::

We have done July before and were ok. I am hoping it will be similar, but lower crowds. :goodvibes

The grey stuff is quite delicious! We should probably try it for lunch just to compare it with our dinner experience. :goodvibes

lol, I don't think I qualify as an expert by any stretch  .

We couldn't do the Disney theme parks during the summer months if we tried. The heat is just too much for us northerners. We are big waterpark people, though :thumbsup2 . This past trip we did both TL and BB, plus a day at Cocoa Beach. Last August, we did Aquatica and Discovery Cove. We also enjoy our resort days immensely........swimming in the pools, mini golfing, and just going with the flow. Downtown Disney is also a must-visit on each trip, as are the outlet malls.

Earlier today, we purchased a second timeshare at the Vistana, so we are hoping for our first two-week trip this August  . Our longest visit has been 8 nights, so this would be a real change!

"The Plan" for August 2014 is to purchase Discovery Cove tickets (we LOVE that park!), which would give us 14 day admission to both SeaWorld and Aquatica as well. We still have our Disney waterpark annual passes from this trip which would carry us to the end of August next year, so we could visit both TL and BB too. Hopefully Mother Nature is kind and there will be no hurricanes! :rolleyes1 Its always on the back of my mind for our August getaways.

Our tentative dates are August 16th to August 30th.

We're tentative the 16-30th as we'll next August :-) we're planning 4 days on the dark side with 2 at universal and IOA as well as seaworld. We also are doing 6 WDW park days with park hopper and waterparks fun and more. We signed on for a BB with free dining at POR but might change it to POFQ at some point in the future ;-)

Hey, a familiar face from the Team August 2013  .

Sounds like you have one awesome trip in the works! Its nice to know I'm not the only one who's just back and already planning the next adventure! :goodvibes

Planning keeps me sane and not with the post vacation blues like last time! yours sounds pretty awesome too! Would love to go to discovery cove but my kids freaked out at just the snorkels at TL so that'll be out for a bit yet :-(

We are going 8/22-8/29. I am undecided on the resort.

I would LOVE to rent DVC points but I'm afraid if something has to change I will be out of my money.

I love CBR but with bigger kids now the double beds won't work. Also I've always gone with my XH (last trip we went we were divorced but went together just for the kids because neither was brave enough to take them alone) and I think I should make new memories with the kids. SO is also going and it'll be his first trip.

I am leaning towards POFQ right now. I'm at 95% but hoping for a RO discount!!!

When we went in August 2011 we had free dining but even if it were free we wouldn't use it again. It just doesn't work for us anymore. My kids also like less ADRs and more park time and pool time. Next trip I'm planning 4-5 for 8 days.

August is very HOT but the crowds were low. We always hit rope drop and do a midday break, have pool time and then another park in the PM. So learning from last time most of our ADRs will be late breakfast or lunch this next trip. On our last trip, With midday breaks we would head back to the parks around 5-6, dinner ADR around 630-7 and then the parks close around 9 (most days). It left us not really having PM park time.

I won't be telling the kids until we leave. Same thing we did last trip. Woke them up and surprised them at 4 am. :)))

Oh yay! An Aug '14 thread! Pretty darn excited for our next trip! We were there this past July and stayed at All star movies for two nights and BCV for 6 nights. We may have started planning our next vaca on the car ride home (lol).

Next trip in 8/1/14 - 8/9/14. Two nights at AoA (sooooooo pumped to see that resort for the first time) and 6 nights at BWV (we've stayed there several times).

Looking forward to reading everyone's plans and countdowns on this thread!

Joining in! Very excited. Checking into POR Royal room on 8/23/2014! This will be our first time at this resort!! I can't wait!

326 days until POR.

Hardly anything to get excited about, but worth mentioning.

Cheers,
Indy

I am so excited! I know it's still far away but I'm so silly. Honestly, I always feel like once Christmas is over (which ussually depresses me a lot cuz I LOVE CHRISTMAS!) Then Disney is only a little ways away! Like once Feb gets here it's only six months! hehe WEll It's probably more wishful thinking but i'm still excited and i'm even MORE excited because I got a great new job after being laid off so I have a lot to be grateful for this year already!

...and i'm even MORE excited because I got a great new job after being laid off..

Congrats on landing the new gig, Poohlover! That will make the August vacation even more special!:cool1:

Just checking in on my August peeps! :wave2:

I see I have some new people to add so I will do that when I get back! Headed to Disney tomorrow!!!:cool1:

When I get back, I will be ready to put 100% focus on August planning!!! Woooohoooo!!! pixiedust:

You can add me to the list of going in August. It'll be a girls only weekend with another DIS'er friend, another friend and her daughter. This will be not only my first girls only trip, but my first time getting to go with one so young. I am so excited to see the magic of WDW through her eyes!! The dates are August 29 - September 1 and staying at the Pop Century.

Just booked the Beach Club today ! Arriving 8/22/14-8/31/14. :cool1:

Celebrating both hubby's #50 b-day and Disney first time for both of us ....

Do you have experience in waiting for Jet Blue release dates for that time period?? If so, when have you seen them released in the past? I am right with you waiting for those fares to come out. I am pretty set on flying Jet Blue for our 2014 trip.

TIA!!

Early January.
This is when we book our Jet Blue flights to Florida. We always do it on the first day they are released because to me that is the first official day of planning our next vacation:thumbsup2.
Our dates this year are August 20th to Sept 1st , doing the bounceback and staying at our favorite resort POR
