OK every year I go to disney in aug. have an AMAZING time and come home to life as usual. And from what i'm experiencing this year every year i miss disney more. Is anyone else like this? I'm going thru serious withdraw and wish I could do two trips but i cant. I even saved texts that i sent and recived in Disney!! i need a support group. lol

This past Aug was our first summer trip. We had in the past taken the kids out of school a few days and gone in Oct. We loved Aug. We found the crowd levels the last week of Aug was so much less than in Oct. I do suffer from Disney withdrawls. In fact last year we were headed down there Columbus day weekend. So I'm really sad thinking about that. However, it's still less than a year til August. I so love the fun family time..

Received an email today from Disney Destinations. It has at the bottom a special 3-letter code to mention when calling, not a numbered code, a letter code. I've been told on another thread that it is probably just a rack rate code. Makes me sad! I'm waiting to pull the trigger until I can get some sort of discount. We are going this year the week before the usual free dining starts (17th - 24th) so I'm hoping something else comes up. Has anybody else ever gotten this email with a 3-letter code and actually have it be a discount??? Any info would be appreciated.

The 3 letter codes are rack rates. I hate that they send those out just to get you to call, but it doesn't hurt to call because you might have a pin attatched to your name also. Good luck getting a great discount.

Just called on that about 1/2 hour ago. Things are booking. I wanted BC 8/17-8/21 with a Garden room queens, but would also take Standard queens. She only had Lagoon or Club or higher for that discount left. So, instead I took YC garden queens. So, if you are partial to something specific, I wouldn't wait.

We are hoping to go with DH, DD 5, DS7 and my brother-in-law and his family! But we are waiting for free dining again. Does anyone remember when it's announced usually for august? I seem to remember it's either May or March. I don't think I can wait that long to book!!

DH and I will be taking our two younger boys for a trip August 9-16 staying a POP! We are so excited, this is a long overdue trip.

I am like that, but that is why I always start planning our next trip right away!! I was lucky to get in my bonus trip a couple of weeks ago, but now I'm just facing 10 months until the next trip...

Woo HOOOO! Got a pin for 35% off next August! Glad I held out on booking. Now to decided if I'd rather wait and try to get free dining... Hmmmmm decisions decisions

eta: I know I could've booked and then fixed it, but it's easier for me to visualize the whole trip when I know my discount from the beginning

Yay for getting a PIN! That's so exciting! I always wait until I have a discount to book too. Otherwise there are too many scenarios that can play out. Once I know exactly how much each option will cost, I pull the trigger. Happy planning!!!

We booked our accommodations yesterday, so we have dates (now, they may change a little depending on flights, but for now, I think its pretty close).

August 16th - August 30th, Sheraton Vistana Resort

Our first two-week vacation ever!

2 weeks! How exciting! We do 11 days, and after April's trip, I was thinking we'd do 9 or 10 next year because our kids had had enough, but it think that had more to do with the fact that it was the second 11 day stay inside of 9 months...perhaps there is such thing as too much of a good thing.
They have confirmed though that next August, they definitely want 11 days.

Just called and added a day onto our trip!!

Originally we were 8/25-9/4, but I changed our departure date to 9/5. This is subject to change based on my kids' school schedule for the 2014 school year. With Labor Day being 9/1 next year, I am not sure of the start date for the school year. If they go back on the Wed after the holiday, 9/3, then we will change our departure date back to 9/4 and have the kids miss the first 2 days and at least be back for classes on Friday and still be there for at least one day in the first week of school.

I am hoping that maybe with the holiday being so early, that school may start Monday 9/8. Then we will stay til 9/5 and they will have the weekend to get ready. Usually I get a copy of the fall schedule early in the spring and I will be able to decide then. But I wanted to add the day now during the BB discount window. I figure easier to take away a day then add a day later on. Not sure if they let you do that after the book by date has passed.

I would imagine it would be in March or so??? But not sure for certain.

Don't know if this helps, but I have a YC Garden View with the 35% discount in later Aug., and there is nothing else with a dash after it.

If it makes you feel better, if a better promo comes out you can easily switch as long as there is availability. Having one promo doesn't preclude you from using another. I honestly think the LGE is the booking code. But, again, if you did receive a promo, you will still be able to switch to a better one later.

My family is looking to book our trip for next August. So many new things to see since last Summer!
Planning on AoA and will for sure be there Aug. 12, since that will be my oldest son's GOLDEN birthday Driving from Chicago and planning a weekend at US, as well!
No pins or offers for us so far, so should I just book and hope for the best? If I book with AAA and an offer comes up later, can I jump on that offer?
Any help would be most appreciated

While at WDW for my Tower of Terror 10 mile race, I booked the free dining bounce back offer. DH , DS (7), DD (5), MIL, and FIL are staying from Aug 20-24 at CSR. We're upgraded to the Deluxe Dining plan and the Water Parks and more/Park Hopper passes. We are renting points from a friend and hope to stay at WL from Aug 17-20. If she can't get us two studios at WL then AKL is our second choice. The kids will be flying with their grandparents while DH and I drive down. We will be getting the regular dining plan for the first part of the trip.

We've never been to Disney in the summer so I am looking forward to getting tips and pointers from others.

We are lucky enough to be going on our 2nd Disney cruise with a couple resort (BW) only days tacked on at the end in January. That trip won't include the in-laws

I am just getting back to the DIS boards after our August trip this year (I still haven't finished my photo book and have I only have a couple of days left!! ).

We are planning for late July-early August 2014 and have the second part of our trip booked: BLT for August 2-9. We can't book the first part of our trip (we like split-stays) until the DVC 7-month booking window, so don't know where we'll be for that part yet, but those dates will be July 27-Aug 2.

I see a few folks I recognize here from the August 2013 group, so that's fun! I don't do FaceBook, but will try to check in here often, especially as it gets closer. So much fun to plan!

The in-laws got their CSR reservations with a AAA discount so no free dining for them. So while it makes financial sense for us to get the dining plan because of the two kids and their love of character meals, they will be paying out of pocket.

Hi all~ Have my dates saved and ready to book tomorrow evening. August 17th through the 24th! Hoping this week will have smaller crowds. We have gone late July and early August the last two trips.

I usually get the winter blues and book, but this year they seem to be the fall blues! Or it is just that we really, really love Disney!
