I did ... and its cheaper with free dining than using the code and adding dining.

SO ... Ive decided to kepp free dining, and let the code go unused! Im so bummed because this is my first room code!!!

You'll get another code someday you can use! However, it seems like they are very skimpy with their codes this year. Glad you were able to figure out the cheaper way! You'll have a magical time! Also, isn't it fun to eat and know its free!

We are planning a shortie trip before a cruise in Aug, and would like to get a discount, or something. We have been lucky enough to do free dining the last three years, but school dates arent allowing us to that this year. We even got the free upgrade to saratoga last year. Wow was that a bit of pixie dust... I hope I havent used my allotment. Hee hee. Does anyone know of past "deals" for Aug?

I got mine by requesting the vacation DVD. I know it was that, because I used a different email address than my disney.com one.

Otherwise just make sure you've signed up with disney.com and cross your fingers.

I'm still betting there will be something for the general public in the next couple of weeks.

Some discounts came out for August last year during the first week of July. Probably will come out after the free dining offer has expired.

I have been waiting for the AP/GP rates to come out past August 2nd for a room only at the value resort and I was looking on line yesterday and they only rooms that showed up was a preferred room at the all star sports. I wasn't going to book because I really wanted to pat an AP rate not rack rate but the CM I spoke to said I should just book the room because it was the last room open. SO I did at 105$ per nite. Well I called today to see if any rooms had opened up at PC/and all 3 all stars for a standard room and nothing. Not even any prefered rooms open So now I'm think they won't open any AP/GP rates for the values. Now I'm hoping that they at least open up some of the mod resorts for an AP/GP rate. I'm terrified that the value resorts and buses are going to be super super packed. I can't change my dates because airfare is already booked. Looks like I picked a bad wk(8-5 till 8-10).
Anyone know if maybe they didn't open all the rooms through CRO.

I think it is going to be crowded.
We have a room at WL for 4 nights in between our 2 DVC ressies, and there are almost NO deluxe rooms left for those dates at rack rate, so I can't imagine there will be generous AP discounts. Looks like it's going to be very cozy!

Maybe part of the reason ASsports is filled in early August could be due to a little league event at WideWorldOfSports complex - 24 teams are competing (I think) 8/3 to 8/10 or somewhere around there - in a tournament. We too are staying at ASsports early August - 8/5 - 8/12 but were able to get a standard room since we made our ressies back in March. So let's hope everyone there is going to WWoS and not filling up the parks while we're touring - LOL!

The pool should be interesting with all those little leaguers! I'm going to double check with the front desk when we check in because I heard if you are staying at any AllStar Resort you can use any AllStar pool - so it might be a tad quieter over at ASMu's pool - then again, maybe not!

Either way, you're in Disney so you know you're going to have a great time.

Same here, but when I checked on Wednesday the AP rates were not out past 8/2. I also think that week will be crowded. I tried to change my Chef Mickey time on 8/4 and was told that there is nothing available that day at all.

The thing that really chaps my tushy is that the June/July AP rates are FABULOUS!! I go on the AP site almost every day and plug in random dates just to see what will come up. Amazing rates at all different resorts! But if I go on the regular site and plug in dates for mid-August I get scraps! We can't switch dates, so of course the dates I need won't be discounted. I think I have only managed to get an AP rate twice in the past - one for Feb. and one for Dec. and they were both short trips at weird times.

Next year we'll stay entirely on points and it won't matter what AP rates are, so I am sure the rates will be rock bottom then!

Mousesavers.com has the historical info on the various discounts. We had a great rate for the WL in mid August of 2003. We paid $114. per night. I wish something like that would come along again!!

Chef Mickey's notoriously books up completely along with Le Cellier at all times of the year. I just called last week and easily booked the exact time I wanted at CP for breakfast, Donald's safari breakfast, and 50's primetime but like you found Chef Mickey's was all booked up the day I wanted it. They may also be booked up on a more popular table size say 4 ppl vs a less popular size like 2 ppl.

I am hoping that the crowds will be like in 06 when we stayed at the beginning of August and it was not crowded at all and then free dining started at the end of our vacation and the mad house at the resort began. lol
