We might have to cancel this trip :-(

I wouldn't panic yet. Rates will go up and down. Last year I obsessively stalked airfare for april and one way flights (with stops!) were running $500. All of a sudden about one month out, I logged on and there was a non-stop Jet Blue flight down to $100! I about crapped myself and could barely get our info typed in, I was shaking so much, lol. :rotfl: As soon as I hit purchase, I went right back in and sure enough they were back up to $400+. So every once in a while they'll lower just a handful of tickets. The know we're like pavlov's dogs; throw a bone out every once in a while and we'll all sit around and wait with our tongues hanging out. Most of those who aren't lucky enough to get a bone will give in and pay their overinflated prices eventually. Just be sure to be one of those who gets a bone. ;)

:rotfl:You seriously just made me LOL :rotfl: Thank you, I needed that! I just can't believe I missed them!

Tues-Weds. is usually when fares go down so maybe they will tomorrow. i'm not that concerned, my flight home was what had me worried. I know I'll get something decent at some point for the flight down.

I'm in the same boat - needed to get that end-of-school-vacation-week Sunday return flight. I got that but haven't booked the flights down yet. They were even higher than the return flight. I'm going to be obsessively checking over the next couple days.

Hi Everyone-

I have been reading this thread, but have not posted until now. We are booked for our trip to Disney on April 20-26. I am probably one of the few (if not only) that is not from the New England area....We're in in Missouri. :) Anyway, I booked our hotel as a room only, though eventually I plan to add tickets and the Dining Plan. I was going to wait until the first of the year in case room only discounts came out. Anyway, in all of the frenzy of making our dining reservations this morning, I put my credit card info in for CRT not realizing that I was actually paying up front. When we add the dining plan, will we be able to get this credited back to us?

Thanks so much for all of your help and I hope you don't mind if I stick around!

I'm not sure for certain but I would imagine that they would credit it back to you. I'm in a similar position as I will be using the Tables in Wonderland card but had to pay the full amount up front. I was told that I would be credited the difference at the meal. :goodvibes

I hope so.....I planned for months and then two days ago, switched our hotel, extended our trip, recreated our entire itenerary and changed plans for ADRs. :rotfl: Somehow the little detail about CRT just escaped me! In addition, 3 hours after I booked our airfaire, I found Southwest's 50,000 credit card offer. Clearly, I have a lot to learn!

The prices are crazy high! I booked our return flight on 4/28 using points (so I can change/cancel & get the points back) at $212 for two of us and $247 for the other two. I had completed the whole transaction but it could only confirm two of us at that price. So annoying... Then I had to start over and book the other two of us at $247.

Now I'm waiting out the flight down around 4/18. We are more flexible with that date and we usually fly down on a Thursday. I don't see myself paying almost $300 one way per person for a Thursday flight.

Had to book for 9 of us! :scared:

It was either $247 each way with SW or go to Boston for AT at $199. Sounds like a no brainer, but AT also hits you for $20 per bag and a $6 to $20 per person seating charge. Came out to only about $250 difference!

Adding in a hotel night if we fly outa Boston, we went with SW. My dear MIL is paying the bill and really didn't want to fly out of Boston, and stop over swere out of the question with MIL and SIL.

Thought about waiting for a sales day, but with 9 of us, I was worried we'd lose out on the few flights we could get. MIL said just get it done!

Anyway, it's costing $4300 for the 9 of us round trip. :sad2:

At least it's over with. Now we can put our thoughts 100% on WDW! :cheer2:

You made a wise decision. I feel like I have just been violated by SWA for what we paid to come home on Sunday the 21st!!!

I'm so used to just planning for my DW and DS and we always go midweek to midweek and let DS out of school a couple of extra days and pay $120 or so PP each way. I hope I didn't panic and settle because I'm booking for 9 this time, but I am really relieved it's over.

As bad as I feel for what I paid flying home the 22nd, I'm glad I implored my DSIL to request a vaca day from her boss (she's a school teacher), because the Saturday and Sunday prices were nutty(er).

Since I am jumping in, can I add my info?

We will be at Pop from April 20-26

Our Plans and ADRs (just obtained today) are:

4/20: After travel, dinner at Rainforest Cafe (DTD)
4/21: BOG for lunch and Chef Mickeys for dinner (MK)
4/22: Flame Tree for lunch and Ohana for dinner (AK)
4/23: 1900 PF for Supercali Breakfast and Biergarten for dinner (Epcot)
4/24: Pizza Planet for lunch and Whispering Canyon for dinner (HS)
4/25: Pecos Bills for lunch and CRT for dinner (MK)

I'm super excited. Neither of my kids have been to Disney and I haven't been since 2000....I think quite a bit has changed!

I'm one of the few non-New-Englanders as well :) I know that area typically has spring break a little later than the rest of the country, which is why there are so many. Our official spring break is in March (in Colorado), but because of the program my DD is in, our schedule is very flexible. We are hoping to miss the main part of spring-break rush by going in late April.

I'm pretty sure that once you add the DDP you can get what you paid for CRT credited back to you. Just ask the CM on the phone when you add it, I know I've heard of other people doing that before. It's got to be a fairly common situation. That's an unpleasant shock though

Definitely stick around- and if you are on FB we have a group there too!!

Where's the FB group??? I missed it!!!

I'm going to keep a running record here of the flights I'm interested so maybe once I have it all written out I can crack the pricing code of the airlines. :rotfl:

Yesterday the flights I'm interested in were $288 and $347 (SW). I laughed at the absurdity of ever spending that much for a one-way (albeit non-stop) flight.
This morning, shortly after SW released their newest dates, those flights went up to $347 & $418 respectively, and have stayed ever since. Still, I thumb my nose at them! I demand under $250! pixiedust: Hopefully I won't be sitting at home thumbing my nose at them in 5.5 months; I won't be laughing then, lol. :lmao:

I can't wait to see how the flight thing works out for those that are waiting to book. I booked our Southwest flight out this morning at around 6:00 am and by 8:00 am, it was sold out. This was out of Kansas City. I wasn't crazy about the timing of the flights, the cost was too high ($340 roundtrip/pp) and our flight back is not nonstop, but I was too scared not to book so I bit the bullet. It will be painful if I have to watch prices fall!

I know, it's crazy how much they fluctuate. it's like gambling, you have to decide when to bite the bullet or hold.

The good news is if they fall you can get credit back for the difference!

OK, pardon me for being a giant idiot, but do you have to cancel your flights and rebook to get the credit? I travel a lot, but do it through work, so I don't ever have to watch airline prices. :rolleyes1 I suppose since our flight out is sold out, there is little chance the price on that will fall. Ha! :rotfl:

I think you can set up a fare alert if you don't check that much and you will get notified if there are any drops in price. You can modify your reservation right online (somebody correct me if I am wrong, it's been awhile since I did this on SW) and they will give you credit good towards a future flight. So no, you don't have to cancel and re-book, just modify! :goodvibes
