*OFFICIAL* AP Watch thread for Jan/Feb UPDATE: THERE OUT 1/1 THRU 2/11

I use the 800-933-3975
It is the Disney Club # but they have not asked me for my Disney # for the past few months, probably because it is being phased out...you can also make Dining reservations too

We have AP's but live in France so don't recieve the "postcards" or the newsletter so I was really pleased to find this forum. We're
coming (or going) to The World 28th January for 18 nights and have reserved at the ASMovies (we were there for two weeks in Feb this year already) if the AP rates come out can we upgrade to a moderate resort? sorry if this is a silly question.
Also can someone tell me what the AAA is please?

AAA is also called "Triple A", and it stands for American Automobile Association. It is a membership service that provides roadside assistance, trip planning and travel discounts.

Lynn R, if or when the AP room rates do come out and they are available for your stay, you can change your reservations to a moderate. Keep an eye on these boards and www.mousesavers.com for AP room rates. Good luck and welome.

Wow, how rude of me! :earseek:

Welcome to the DIS boards, LynnR!!!

:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Thanks for answering so quickly, I was a bit nervous cos i'm not used to taking part in Forums, and everybody seems to know everyone anyway thanks for your welcome and I'm sure I'll have more questions.

Right now I am using my cell phone and still have plenty of minutes. If I run short I will let you know.:smooth:

Hey! Tomorrow is 10 weeks for me!

Hey LynnR, welcome to the DIS, this is a very friendly, great board. You will learn sooooo much!

There is also a CAA which is Canadian Automobile Association.

AAA also gives discounts on theme park tickets around the country, hotel discounts, rental car discounts and towing service.

Definitely keep an eye on mousesavers.com, it is a great souce of info on discounts.

:D

My DH bought me AP as a Birthday gift, cant wait to use them. A travel agency Magical Journeys, quoted me AAA rates for WL, said they would monitor for AP rates, is this a good idea or would I have better luck doing it my self? I have always use disney club in the past. Thanks

Called this am to make res for princess bfast and asked about ap rates. NONE POSTED YET!!!!!! Will keep on looking and calling. MAGS MOM, We are going to be at wdw in Feb also.

Malenurse...did you get your Cindy's ressies? I didn't get on until 7:12am to call and they were all sold out for the 20th. Feb. 21st is really the day I want so keep your fingers crossed for me tomorrow!

Nickiekay, I have used Magical Journeys many times, if it is there they will get it. They even got thier clients AP rates for September when Disney released them for about an hour in error.

gbanshee

Thanks , I really need those rates and did not want to make a mistake, I would like to plan 2 additional trips this year, but money is an issue.

total speculation...I wonder if the Aps rates will be released for a short time span since I know the visa rates for Vero as well as a postcard my sl received in the mail for special rates were both for only about a month long each..seems why bother even releasing something for such a short time period but I wonder if this means anything for the AP rates..only time will tell!

Divamomto3... Yes, I did get my ressies for princess breakfast.. Set my alarm clock and called 2 minutes before 6am (CST) and had to wait on hold for about 5min. Sorry about you not getting yours. Have you tried the sitting at EPCOTs Norway? We are going to be at the POP.:D

congrats malenurse! Tomorrow's really the day I want so I'm setting my alarm. We're at the Swan...haven't tried Norway yet, but may do that also. I have 3 sons.....I'M the Princess that wants the Breakfast! princess:

Hi everyone! I'm new to the list (well, if you look at my registration date it's not new, I just haven't been here in a while :D ). I have some questions on the AP discounts.

1. Do I need to have an activated AP to get the discount? We're going to DW in Feb. I plan on buying our APs before the end of the year with our Disney Club discount but I won't be activating them until we get there. Is this OK?

2. Any ideas of how large these discounts are? We got AAA discounts at POR and they seem very good ($135/nite incl tax, this is for a room with a trundle bed).

3. Do these discounts count at the Dolphin/Swan? I tried getting in there, and while they had AP discounts for other days in Feb, they didn't have them for the days we're going.

Thanks much!

1.) You don't need anything to make the reservation. Official Disney policy is that you must have an activated AP when you check in. Many people report not having to show anything, others report that they showed the voucher with no problem, and still OTHERS report they had to show an activated AP, but were able to check in, activate the pass, and stop back at the front desk after activating it.

2.) The discounts vary. Generally speaking, the more you would pay rack rate, the better the discount. They can go as high as 50%, and as low as 30%. .Here's a listing of historical rates, but Disney's marketing has changed, and unfortunately, you can't really use the history as a guide anymore.

3.) I believe the Swan/Dolphin offer discounts for Disney annual pass holders, but I'm not at all sure how they work

I just saw that 1/1/02-2/13/02 AP discounts were released 12/5/01 - maybe this year will follow the same pattern. I even have a reservation sheet dated 12/5/01 for my Jan 2002 stay at the GF. :)

I received a post card today, Got WL for 109.00 per night. I told the CM that I had been waiting for the AP rates. CM told me that he thought AP rates would be released on 12-5, but said this was only a rumor, Sooo excited I got to book at this rate. Hope AP rates come out quickly for those still waiting.
