Plus-sized is just a euphasim for fat. How long before "plus-sized" is deemed offensive?

I think of fat as being morbidly obese.

Someone like Whitney could be considered chubby (especially next to size 0s)but I wouldn't go so far as to say fat. It's just kind of an ugly word.

You know who really gets on my nerves already? Allison. She appears to be a witch with a capital B.

Paulina Porizkova as the new judge should be interesting since she is known for slamming the show as "unrealistic" in the past. I heard she is not going to be as nice as Twiggy and plans on saying what she REALLY thinks a la Janice Dickinson. It should be interesting.

I haven't seen one started yet so I decided to go ahead and do it. Sorry if there's already a thread floating around out there.

Anyway, I like this group of girls. I'm psyched to see three New Yorkers there and two of them are from Brooklyn! I'm definitely rooting for them but I also really like Fatima. I liked her from the beginning and then after hearing her story... It's so sad what's going on in many parts of Africa. Thankfully she seems to be a really strong, well-adjusted, smart girl considering all the hardship she's had to go through. I'll be rooting for her!

Right now the only one's I don't like are Marvita and Anya. Marvita's still insane and a PITA, and Anya's voice is just

Could Tyra be any more of a drama queen? Not that we didn't already know that but she goes WAY over the top! I'm so excited that the shows coming back to NY, and I like how Twiggy's being replaced by Paulina Porizkova. I liked Twiggy but she didn't really add much... I miss Janice! She was so funny to watch and I LOVE her show on Oxygen. Hopefully Paulina will be good, too!

I don't like Marvita...couldn't believe she was back and made it through this time.

Should be interesting having Paulina as a judge...

I can't wait for Fatima to get a makeover! I think her hair is tragic, and can't wait to see it GONE.

And, FTR I prefer the term "plus sized model" to fat. We've got enough body image issues to deal with without throwing "fat" around, doncha think?

I agree, that girl should be home nursing her baby. Modeling is not more important than that. And does she seriously DRINK it? That's gross.

I don't like Marvita..I just don't see her as a model. She's not attractive to me.

I'm not too sure about Fatima yet. It sucks what she's had to go through and how she has to live her life now, but she was already starting fights with people. I guess the show loves drama though!

"People think I'm kind of stupid, but really I'm down to earth." Wow, did someone misinterpret something they'd been told? I thought "down to earth" was someone who was grounded/knew and aknowledged their roots but has very little to do with intelligence or even common sense.

Paulina's preview comments were kind of a bust, but glad she's there.

Still not feeling the Marvita love. Stacy Ann is waaaaaaaaaaaay too frikkin perky for my tastes.

Still liking Fatima. Whitney was good. Still like Lauren.

The two that left...didn't really make enough of impression for me to miss them too much.

I really hate when people go on reality shows and then quit after about 2 minutes there.

Kim reminded me of Colby from All My Children. She would have been kicked off in the next few episodes anyway. I loved it when Paulina put Nigel down. It is about time someone put him in his place. Why would you knock a girl for being nervous as the first one called out at the first judging!?! She seems like a good mix between Twiggy and Janice. And I hate it when they tell the models that they looked like they didn't know what to do. THEY DON'T!!! That is why they are there! For you to show them what to do. I remember the season that I think it was Kim who got to look at her frames after about 50 shots and then she got to do another 50 shots for winning a challenge. She rocked the next 50 shots. I thought, Shouldn't they be doing that with all of the girls? Look at what you are doing and this is where you can improve! It doesn't seem that they really teach them that much. The other girl that left, I had trouble remembering her just as Paulina said. She was pretty unremarkable.

I thought Claire looked a little like Jaslene in the photo shoot. The hat and makeup were similar to the school clique challenge where she was the "outcast".

This is a really stong group of girls! My two favorites are Claire and Lauren. I wouldn't be surprised by Claire winning it all, she's awesome. And Lauren needs to learn to walk but she has an interesting look and I've got to support our Brooklyn girl! I also liked Marvita a lot more this week. She's still not really a model to me, but she seems like a nicer person than she's been. And I like Katarzyna, another New Yorker and she reminds me of Ginger Spice

I can't wait for the makeovers!

Kim's departure was kind of hillarious. She was just - I don't really like fashion and paying $900 for a purse. [side note: that would be a very cheap "fashion" purse, honey!] and Tyra's all - do you want to go home? And she's all - yes, I want to go. And Tyra's all - buh-bye!

For the photo shoot, I really think at these early shoots, Jay could be more helpful to the girls instead of just saying things like "You need to bring it" or "focus your energy." He's a pretty lame director, based on what we are shown.


I wonder, do they ever tell the girls the criticism they have for them during the private judges discussions? Like they said Kat needs to wear less make-up, but will she ever be told that or will she have to develop ESP or something and figure out what is in the judges' minds?

The girl the judges voted off (forgive me I don't know her name)....I thought she looked too much like Salesha to even be chosen for the house. I knew they wouldn't pick the same "look" twice in a row.

I was not impressed with Salesha's commercials. Talk about not looking "high fashion."

Yeah, I hope there's a lot more training that goes on than we see. The one girl (was it Stacy Ann?) gets criticized for only having 5 poses. Why should they have any poses this early on? They're there to learn.

For some reason I just don't care for Dominique or Fatima, they do nothing for me. Fatima may turn out to be this season's troublemaker judging by the fight she was picking with Marvita. Is she going to remind us in every single episode that her genitals have been mutilated? I feel horrible for her about that, but honestly, this is a modeling competition, and no one else has a "platform", she shouldn't either.

I do like Claire, and I think that Lauren photographs well even if she can't walk.

I was watching an old rerun yesterday of an episode I have DVR'd and it has 2 plus size models, one was named Diane, and I can't remember the other one. They both said they wore a size 8!! I can't believe a size 8 is considered plus size! To add insult to injury some of the other girls called them "fat" and said they would never be on the cover of Vogue. How sad.
