I'm the opposite. I love ladies night and am bored to tears on guys night.

I loved Mikayla, Jessica and Carrie is my favorite of all. I loved her song. She got the idea to do it because Faith Hill, a country singer, also sang it so it's not that far fetched that she'd think to sing it.

I hope Carrie wins the whole thing!

My girls taped last night so I got to see it....YEAH!

I think Aloha and Janay should go, but I thought that last week also. Janay just doesn't look at all comfortable up there. I also thought Lindsey was a bit weak on her song...but maybe that's because I like the original so much.

I also got a copy of the boys night and watched that when i got home last night. I think Joe and David should go from them. I don't like Constintine but I think he'll stick around a bit. My daughters love Mario and Travis...I have to admit Travis is a cutie!

would anyone mind posting who sang what last night? i only recognized half the songs. my votes went to jessica (not becos i thought she was fantastic by any means, but i think she's interesting and am curious to see what else she will do), nadia & vonzell (my 2 favorites), and....mikaylah, which surprised me cos up until now i couldn't stand her. but i really enjoyed her performance last night.

can anyone tell me what janay said to simon? i heard her say something obnoxious to him but couldn't make out the words. i think she and lindsey will be going home.

I think Janay for sure will go home. She's just not as "developed" as the others, you can hear it in the depth of her siniging.

The other one is a toss-up in my eyes. For some reason, the judges don't seem to like Celena at all, so that could be a factor when people call in to vote. I'd love to see her stick around a lot longer, I think she's got a beautiful voice.

I think Janay told Simon she's prove him wrong about her leaving the show or not getting the votes.

Aloha- I think she has a pretty voice, but I never like her song choices which I think could be her downfall.
Lindsay- Ugh! First of all, I HATE the song she sang and always have and her voice is just too low for me or something. Not at all impressed.
Jessica- I think she has a pretty voice, but I would never choose to do a Martina McBride song...too much range and high notes for her. I still like her though.
Mikalah- I was grateful she didn't talk tonight! Someone must have told her how obnoxious she seems. I still can't stand her singing voice though and hope she goes home tonight.
Celina- I guess the judges and I won't see eye to eye on everything b/c I thought she did a great job. She has a really pretty voice.
Nadia- I didn't like the song but still think she did a good job with it. She is definitely talented.
Amanda- I thought she did a good job and was better than last week.
Janay- I thought she was okay, not as bad as the judges seemed to think anyway.
Carrie- Okay, I never knew that Janis Joplin did this song...I always thought it was a Faith Hill original. Either way I was not nearly as impressed w/Carrie tonight, which was disappointing. Still...based on other performances I think she will go far and she is still one of the best IMO.
Vonzel- Once again I didn't agree w/the judges b/c I thought Vonzel did a fantastic job.

My choices to leave tonight are Mikalah and either Lindsay or Janay. Somehow I figure Mikalah will end up staying for another week though since she does have a fanbase...even if I am definitely not one of them. I figure Janay will be gone and I am not sure who else.

My choice for the top 6 girls is: Carrie, Vonzel, Amanda, Nadia, Celena, and Jessica.

I didn't get to see the guys Mon. night b/c we had a childbirth class but my pick for the top 6 guys is: Bo, Scott, Nikko, Anthony...I don't know about the last 2 spots as I am really not that impressed with the rest of the guys.

I thought that Carrie, the Oklahoma girl, sounded really good with that Janis Joplin song. I was suprised that they didn't like it. She looks exactly like I would expect someone from Oklahoma to look like. (Not meant as a stereotype)

Mikayla was so much better last night! She acted really "normal".

I like Aloha, but she wore another baggy top! She doesn't look like a heavy woman, so why does she keep wearing abggy outfits?

It seems like Simon wants to get rid of Janay! Maybe she will get the crowd behind her anyway!

Jessica has a really nice voice!

I think the judges nailed it last night with some of the contestants. Carrie, who is sooooo gifted and talented, picked the WRONG song with the Janis Joplin song. I'd love to hear her sing Emmylou Harris, who she reminds me of. And Nadia with the Paul McCartney song, what was she thinking? She's hugely talented though, I think she will stay. Jessica and Mikayla DID pick the right song for their particular style which is why they got kudos. Who knows how these girls will do when it comes down to the different genres, then we'll see who can hold up when it comes to exploring all areas of popular music.

Anyway, this week I think its bye bye for Janay, or at least it should be. My advice for her would be the same as the judges: cute, talented girl who should come back in a few years. The remaining girls are all blurred together for me, no standouts.

Who knows how these girls will do when it comes down to the different genres, then we'll see who can hold up when it comes to exploring all areas of popular music.

That's what I'm anxious to see. I like Mikayla, but I don't think she'll do well with a variety of genres. I think Celina will though. The others I'm not too sure about (except Janay...I'm hoping she's leaving tonight). So far Carrie is my favorite.

Melissa has that unique voice. I don't think anyone else could duplicate her songs either.

My thoughts on the last couple nights:

One piece of advice for ALL of the contestants: STAY AWAY from songs that have been sung by someone that has really "made them their own". Celine Dion, Faith Hill, Martina McBride, some Whitney Houston...All of those women simply sang the hell out of certain songs, and almost nothing that the contestants could do would make them seem anything but considerably less in comparison. It doesn't seem to happen as often with the guys, but it does on occassion.

As for their performances:

Guys Night - I liked Bo, though I liked him better last week. Thought Scott made a major improvement, but it helped that he didn't give off so much of a Ted Bundy vibe Constantine I didn't like at all, and he's hurt by the comparisons to Bo. Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes he ain't. I am in the camp that doesn't get the attraction to Anwar so many people have. Didn't care for Moon River last week, didn't like his performance this week much either (Cuba Gooding did it better in Jerry Macguire ). Thought Nikko did well. The rest (including Anthony, who I like) were pretty much forgettable.

Gals Night - I agree with beattyfamily. I think Carrie was shooting more for Faith's type of performance than Janis'. As such , I thought she was ok, if not as good as last week. I thought Mikalah improved dramatically from previous performances. Thought Jessica did all right with a song that was a killer (see my earlier advice). Other than that, I didn't care much for any of their performances, and actively disliked Vonzell, Lindsey, Janay, and Amanda.

Who I think should go home:
Guys - Joseph (lounge lizard) and David (the church guy)
Girls - Janay (not talented enough) and Aloha (ditto)

I am in the camp that doesn't get the attraction to Anwar so many people have. Didn't care for Moon River last week, didn't like his performance this week much either (Cuba Gooding did it better in Jerry Macguire ).

I think the thing with Anwar is he is so versitile. He has a lot of range and can alter his style, most likely a result of his experience as a music teacher. He'll be able to stand up to genres like "big band" and "disco", can't say I see that same fate for some of these young girls who don't know a Janis Joplin original from a Faith Hill remake, or Constantine, who seems married to the rock and roll genre. Bo I predict WILL pull off the different genres, again, as a direct result of his experience as a singer. Raising the age limit raised the bar, imo, and the quality and range is evident in some of these older singers.

Ok, im just going to say it....I don't like Janis Joplin...LOL
I just think she has a nails on the chalkboard voice (my opinion) but I did LOVE Melissa Etheridge's version of the song, that was awesome.

I thought Carrie did a great job of the Faith Hill version of Piece of my heart.
