Innocent questions, please do not flame, but am honestly looking for answers from those of you who say you "like" Mikalah or have voted for her, since I absolutely do not get it...

Why in the world do you like her? What positive trait(s) do you see that the rest of us cannot? Do you think she's talented? If so, how so? Do you think she's not obnoxious? If so, in what way? Do you think she is not rude, snotty and argumentative?

Please help me understand it. I'm all for cheering for the underdog every once in awhile, but this girl annoys the HECK out of me. :confused3

In the early stages she had quite the confidence while performing--in her initial and subsequent auditions. Her problem is when her youthfulness (aka immaturity--sneak in). Aside from that, her voice and skill were amazing. I think all the things re: obnoxius, rude, snotty--or whatever that you think she is (since you asked the questions I assume you think this..) is her immaturity shining through. I think she's cute and funny and while composed during singing--it might be the way she handles her nerves. I know sometimes I come across in a weird way (was thought of as a snob a lot in school)--but for me it is due to nerves, when someone gets to know me--I'm not that way at all. I'm giving her the BOD and am sure that she'll be coached by whomever signs her on how to behave appropriately.

At this point--where her talent is waining...I do think her voice is getting tired...last week she was starting to not sound the way she did in previous weeks and this week she was sounding worse. I think the strain will catch up to her.

I liked her--but I was thinking more like Nikki last night. Mikaylah was better in the beginning, but it sounds like her "young" voice is starting to tire from singing non-stop for all these weeks. I used to think Nikki sounded good and then each week it was just getting worse and worse. I never noticed Carmen's voice change a whole lot--more of a style problem with the genres where Mikayla's voice is starting to sound tired..does that make sense?

I guess it isn't known nationally, but 3 students from Mikaylah's high school were killed Monday morning along with another adult as they were walking by a bus stop. A woman in an SUV apparently under the influence of prescription drugs lost control of her vehicle and plowed down all four individuals. Three people died at the scene and the fourth died at the hospital. Now, I'm not trying to make excuses for Mikaylah's performance, but I believe that this could have affected her performance. Maybe that's why she sounded tired. I think it is sad the way so many people on this site have been bashing her. She's a kid, give her a break.

Ok here a list of #1 billboard hits.. http://home.planet.nl/~haan0654/hot100/nrs1/decade.htm

What could be great songs? Place your requests..

Bo--Doors, Stones, or even J. Giels band centerfold

Nadia--Tina Turners Whats love got to do with it? .. that would kick butt.

Scott-- He could do justice to Suspicious MInds by Presley

Anwar-- what could he sing well that is current? Could When Doves Cry work for him?

Constantine--Addicted to Love (Robert Palmer) could work well

Vonzell-- what would work well? Saving all my Love for you?

Jessica--Call Me Blondie (as long as her "boys" are covered)

Nikko-- I bet we will see him singing a Boys II men or Color me Badd song "I swear" or yet one of the many Stevie songs

Anothony-- boring tune like All night Long by Lionel Richie,

Carrie-- I don't know? Something that isn't boring?

Wow, that's so sad. :guilty: They said that the show was taped on Monday evening, so that would have been incredibly difficult to perform on the same day that she found that out.

That would be terribly hard to sing after. I really don't think people here are "bashing" her, just giving our opinions about her singing. IMO it's not about her voice. Her accent (?) is so strong it isn't possible to understand her words. A singer has to be able to articulate the lyrics and she simply can't. During one of her taped interviews I understood her perfectly and then when RS interviewed her "live" she reverted back to that very strong, IMO put on, accent. I think she thinks she has to have a gimic. What she really needs is a good vocal coach to work with her on articulation. Until that happens no one will really even listen to her singing because they will be too busy trying to figure out what she is saying.

I don't think she's very good either but I can't even imagine how difficult it would be to perform after hearing such horrible news.

I really don't care about the sob story of the week. She still sings bad.

Cindy B: "I really don't care about the sob story of the week. She still sings bad."
Wow, that sounded really harsh. I agree with you, she does sing badly. But please keep in mind, that "sob story" was someone's children. :guilty:

Harsh? No. There was no mention of this during the show. Do you know if she was directly involved? My high school class had thousands upon thousands of students in it. I didn't know everyone. If she quit high school to go on AI, would she technically be not a student there? So, yes, four student died. Did she know these students? Were they in her grade?

I'm just sick of all the sob backstorys. The trach, the I have no family, the my daddy told me I would account to nothing, this accident, the hocking of the wedding rings... these are just manufactured stories to produce "sympathy votes". I vote purely on talent.--of which Mikalah has limited amounts.

Everyone has tragedies. I'm sick of hearing it too. Just sing already. If you have talent, you have talent. If you don't have that special something I'm not going to vote for you no matter how horrible your story is.

I enjoy listening to talented people sing, I also enjoy knowing that they are human beings also. So while it should not effect your vote, I like to know a little about them all. And yes, I think that she could very easily be upset. Not everyone is coldhearted.

My point is that we dont even know if she even knew these students. She may have heard and had no idea who they were. She , shocker, may not even cared... yes, that is possible.

I find it hard to pull out a story that has nothing to do with her directly, and use it to "excuse" her out of a bad performance. Yes, tragic, yes, sad, but honestly and truly has nothing to do with Mikalah.

I don't agree with that. I went to a large high school. I had 575 kids in my graduating class and, I'd assume, an equal number in the other classes. Two kids a year ahead of me died their senior year -- one in a drug deal gone bad, the other had a heart attack in gym class -- I didn't know either of them personally, yet just about everyone took it hard.

I agree, if you don't like her singing, don't vote for her, but to in essence say "get over it" is harsh.

Wasn't surprised that Lindsay had to go. But, I am a group crier and I always feel bad when they show the person's clips of the auditions etc. I thought her "swan song" was so much better than the night before.

I figured that Mikaylah would be in the bottom three but thought Nikko would be there with her. I just can't shake the "Michael Jacksonness" of him - his dancing, grabbing, etc. If he would break out of that mold, I would like him better as I do think he has a good voice. I agree that Mikaylah is sounding more nasal each week. This was her wake up call.

My rockers (of which I also consider Nadia to be) did fantastic. Anwar, imho, was a little boring but I can forgive him. I thought Carrie was good as well. The others, were in the obvious "middle" category and like Simon says, ;), they need to make a move if they are going to survive.

I loved the Carrie/Bo duet during the group song. I thought they sounded great together.......in a "I'm a little bit country, I'm a little bit rock 'n roll" kind of way! :rotfl:

Predictions for next week - a shocker - someone who was "safe" this week will go. It will be Nikko.
