Official all things Princess Half Weekend 2015 thread! DOoneY and offical mErcH on DisneyParksBLOg

I've got a 10K race coming up next week, I'm feeling pretty confident about that but not necessarily on getting from 10K to 13.1 miles in a bit under two months. Yikes! How can the trip to Disney seem so far away but the race seem so close??

I have a Disney training partner who said the best thing ever to me right before the TOT a couple of months ago - she said that if you can do at least half the distance of the race, you can finish it! So definitely train as much as you can, but don't push so much that you risk injury just to get higher mileage. Just keeping that in mind really gave me motivation and kept me from panicking.

And even after saying that - I aggravated my leg again yesterday. Haha. I ran a distance I am comfortable with and did a week ago. But, it was very cold out and I just never felt warmed up, so I am wondering if that was part of the issue. Time to join the gym and go the treadmill route for long runs. Oh how I wish I was in FL!

Thanks for the info! I didn't realize this, had thought the mike was thru parking lot. Does anyone know if there's anyway I can switch my daughter from dash to mile? Thx!

It doesn't look like the mile is sold out. You should contact runDisney to see if they will let you switch.

Do they offer resort delivery for the expo?
Thanks :-)

Not that I can recall. In the past, I've purchased from the booths for Sweaty Bands, Champion, and Sparkleskirts, and I have never seen this offered. I just throw my stuff in the clear plastic bag that I got when I picked up my bib, race packet & race tshirt. As far as the Official runDisney Merch, my memory is a bit foggy on that one, since I haven't purchased from that booth since 2012, but I doubt they'd offer it since the Expo isn't really a permanent location that would offer resort delivery like you would get in the parks.

I don't think so either. I would suggest bringing a backpack. That way, you aren't carrying tons of bags.

Have you guys booked dinner the night before? We were trying to decide where to go. I know we're less than 180 days out, but I hope we can still get in somewhere. We'll need our carbs! :)

I just booked our night before dinner last night. I was able to get an early evening reservation at Teppan Edo, no problem. We are just a party of two, so that makes things easier, but I'd say go online today & see what you can get.

We bought Pasta in the Park tickets. This is our first race weekend, and we thought it would be a fun experience. Plus, it includes some characters and priority viewing for Illuminations.

I think we're just going to have Make Your Own Pasta at AoA! :thumbsup2 Carby, cheap, and relaxing! If that seems too boring at the time we will go to Wolfgang Puck Express at DTD... unless the construction will still be annoying then?

I've been arguing with myself over this dinner for a couple of weeks now. I have an ADR for Tutto Italia, but I am second guessing it and considering Il Mulino instead!

TI worked really well with their spaghetti and meatballs before TOT, but it isn't the most exciting of locales.

We are making our own dinner before the races since we are staying in a Villa. :) I do remember once I just went to the resort counter service before we started staying in a room with a kitchen. Plus my mom who runs the GSC is really picky about what she eats the night before the race.

I'm thinking we'll do the same (create-your-own pasta) at Riverside Mill since we're staying at POR. Last year, I had the spaghetti & meatballs from Intermission at ASMusic, and it was really good! LOTS of food, which is perfect for me, since I need a big meal if I'm going to bed super early to get up at 3:30am for the race the next morning. I see they added create-your-own pasta after they re-did the food court at ASMusic, so that's good news for the folks staying there, too. :)

Off running topic sort of...my friend and I will be sharing a room for two nights during PHM. My friend is a Fla resident and also a annual pass holder. Because she is on my reservation, I cannot get a meal plan unless she does. She does not want to.

Because she is on my reservation, I cannot get a meal plan unless she does. She does not want to. . If I take her off of the reservation, I can get tickets and a meal plan. Someone said she can get a day pass to be at the hotel with me, can she get a day pass for two days in a row? I really want a meal plan, I am afraid otherwise I would go over budget and get stuck. My friend wants to stay with me in the room, we want to split the cost. What do you all think? Should I just leave things alone and forget the meal plan??? Help!

I'd just forget the meal plan.

First, it is only 2 nights. Second, I'm not familiar with a day pass. I've never heard of one. But then she wouldn't have a key to the room, or EMH, or any of that stuff. Depending on what hotel you are at that could be tricky. But besides that, I've never found the meal plan to be a particularly good deal and it limits my options. Especially right before a race.

I'd just buy a gift card. Budget a certain amount, for example how much the meal plan would have cost you. And use that for meals. It isn't worth the stress and trying to get around the resort and worrying if they will allow her in. Plus, maybe she can get a better room discount with her pass.

All I know, is I'll be watching what I eat the night before the races. I'd like to make it through both races without any GI issues.:thumbsup2 I'll start loading and hydrating on Wednesday. I love carbs, so it never really is an issue for me.

I've heard pretty good reviews of the pastas at the food courts lately, so I'm hoping we'll be satisfied too!

Haha, I agree, I'm already a carb-a-holic, so I'm always a little confused on what to eat since it's what I like anyway. I can have a bit of a sensitive stomach, but thankfully have never had issues on a run. So I'm just trying to stay positive and assume I won't have any issues then either :thumbsup2

My go-to dinner for this year's GSC was the kid's turkey and mashed potatoes at POR. It was very mild and had enough carbs.

I will be staying at Port Orleans, too. The food courts are some of the best in the eyes of my family. One of the many reasons to stay here. I'm sure we will consider the create your own pasta for one of the races.
