This year and last year, yep. "Who is ONLY doing the Half?" at the corral starts over and over and over. You can hear "only" and "just" a finite number of times before you start to lose it, just a bit. Maybe that's why I enjoyed the Wine&Dine (despite the torrents of rain) and the TOT I did better, because there was no challenge for them to go on and on about?
Just cancelled my room for Princess. So bummed I won't be a Glass Slipper legacy runner. Stupid life getting in the way of Disney plans!
^^THIS^^ times 1,000!!!Running is almost exclusively an individual sport. Your motivation comes from inside of you. Most of your training is done alone, and only other runners can appreciate your journey. That is why runners are so supportive of one another. We get it, and we learn that it is okay that others do not. But don't look for offense where no offense is intended, and Disney clearly does not mean to offend here. They are trying to get you excited about YOUR race. So, even if their words are not what you would have chosen, take them for what they are meant. Only you can give words power over you. Give them power - but make it positive.
Rejoice in your efforts and accomplishments. Run for the joy of it.

Please, I didn't mind to grind the thread to a halt! Continue talking about the travel plans and worrying about flights being cancelled in the snow! Thanks for giving me a moment to vent. On with the scheduled programming!

Anyone with IT band issues.....are you running any leading up to the race? I tried 6 miles (going for 10) last weekend and it hurt like the dickens. Haven't run since then as I've been getting twinges on occasion. Used ice and have been taking naproxen twice a day but its killing me to not do any running. Haven't run any long runs in a month. Can't decide if I should test it out with an IT Band strap or leave until race day....
It has to be better than 6 degrees with a Real Feel of -20. There is a wind chill advisory, in my neck of the woods, until 10 am tomorrow for 20 to 30 below zero.
I probably either wouldn't run, or just do a mile ish, if it were me. And even if you don't test it before the race, I highly recommend the IT band! I had 0 discomfort and it helped immediately. Worst cases scenario - you take it off during the race if it bugs you. GL!
Here now guys - not so much with the warm! Brr
I had IT band issues in the last few weeks before the WDW Half (my first half). I decided not to run after it hurt a lot. My last run before the WDW Half (on Jan. 10) was on Xmas day. I did lots of yoga (about 4-5 classes per week). The yoga help me keep up my leg strength without hurting the IT band.
