Ironic that the raised cell phones were an issue so you raised yours higher. I feel for you, though! I’m taller, and usually feel bad that I’m most likely blocking somebody in situations like this.

People should stop taking cell phone pics and videos of the fireworks. Or maybe just grabbing one or two snaps and then putting the phone down.

There are incredible professional-quality pics everywhere online, and YouTube is filled with 4K videos.

Well, using your cell phone isn't against any rules. I'm not sure why I should be the one person who doesn't raise their phone to take a photo. I wasn't implying that people shouldn't be able to use their phones to take photos, simply that they get in my way. I don't agree at all that photo taking should not be allowed.

I watched from the dessert party garden and if the photo SleeplessInTO posted is what you are referring to, you can see some of it from the garden. I'm not sure if taller people have a better view. I'm 5"2. Looking at my photos, I've got Jack from the knees and up in most of the photos. A few of them I've got a little lower. I don't see his feet in any of my photos.

I was in a similar position to SleeplessInTO for the regular fireworks. I was against the rail of the Walt & Mickey statue - it was to my right as I faced the castle. My view was terrible. I'm just too short. I couldn't see most of the bottom of the castle. I was constantly readjusting my position to try to see over heads and around arms. The worst part was the raised cell phones. My photos are not very good - -I had to try to get above the cell phones near me, meaning I'm missing a lot of the castle. A lot of the photos I took have the other cell phones in the photo and it looks awful. I can crop it out, but I'll crop away a good part of the castle.

I will never watch the fireworks like that again. Overall a horrible experience. Suffocatingly hot, bad view, aching neck from looking up at an angle, the incessant press of people and getting out of the mess was the definitely the worst part of my 9 day trip. The dessert party is worth every penny - -you can sit in peace until shortly before it starts and the view is great.
This is actually exactly the purpose of my question--trying to decide whether to keep our dessert garden party tickets. I am 5'3" :-)

It's expensive and time consuming, but to me it is worth it. You don't actually have to spend any time eating if you don't want to. You can just check in and get your band. I am paying for the garden viewing spot, not the food and drink. (The food and drink is not great, just acceptable.) On Tuesday Aug 13, I went to check in directly after the parade -- the line was long. I recommend you wait until that initial line clears out. I went into the Garden around 9:40 and secured my favorite spot -- against the rail that is around a bush all the way inside the garden. On Friday Aug 16th we didn't check into the dessert party until 9:15 and stayed until about 9:50. I didn't get my favorite spot, but I was just a few feet over, leaning on the rail along Main Street. People sat on the ground while waiting and were instructed to stand about 5 minutes before. On both days the garden was probably less than 50% full. You could have laid down and done snow angels if you were inclined. It is easy to get out of the Garden after the FW.

We spent a lot of time at the party, but you absolutely do not need to. I needed the rest and I am only interested in the parade, castle show, FW and non character photo ops. I have the time to "waste" at the party.

Glad I get one more chance to experience both but especially Dinosaur.
Us too! We have skipped Dinosaur the last few times at AK, so are looking forward to a farewell ride or more! I did not know about the mustard and ketchup! Cool fact, thank you!

I will never watch the fireworks like that again.

I feel you both. I'm 5'3" as well, and have such a hard time seeing the fireworks. We have booked the dessert party solely for a better viewing spot. The drinks and dessert are a bonus. We don't plan to spend much of our time there. More like a quick snack, in and out and on with the fun.

Thanks to both of you, MommaKetch and 123SA. This will be our first time at MNSSHP. I don't care about the food and drink. I plan on getting the band and then coming back later for the fireworks. Or can I just come to the fireworks at the last minute? I am wanting this to minimize the time we spend waiting before the fireworks, while still getting a good viewing spot.

(Sorry I don't know how to tag people)

You can enter at the last minute. Some of the spots available last minute in the garden viewing area have a partially obstructed view, like light posts and skinny trees. But, overall it is a great view. I would highly recommend getting your wristband earlier and not waiting to do that at the last minute. It's a short walk from the check-in desk to the garden viewing spot, but will be very crowded and hectic right before the fireworks start.

Editing to add that you can bring food inside the viewing area. We like to get Casey's or load up on popcorn and drinks and sit for a bit before the fireworks start. More so if its a HEA night and we've booked the post-party, which is not available for MNSSHP.

I’ll be in a wheelchair for our trip (leg injury ☹️). Does anyone know if there is a separate area for WC/ECV users for watching fireworks? I was considering the dessert party just so I can see too, Im also 5’2 and makes it even harder to see in the wheelchair.

I'm sorry your leg is injured, but kudos to you for not letting it change your plans. Yes, there is an ECV viewing spot right in front of the garden party viewing area. :) So no need to spend the $$$ for the dessert party to get a great view.IMG_3184.jpeg

Thanks to you both! I made a reservation for the garden party earlier this week and was having some guilt about spending the extra money during the party. However, I am also short, 5'1", and only ever seem to be looking either at back of heads or between people to see things. We have done a garden party before and it was the best experience because of the view and waiting area. You just helped me validate why I wanted to do this in the first place. A quick snack and a good place to view the fireworks.

:offtopic: To tag someone type @ and then start typing their username (no space between @ and username) a list of matching usernames should pop up and keep typing until you see their name and select it

does it fill up quickly? this is also my first time with a scoot scoot... sigh damn arthritis....
Yes. They will set up multiple rows. If you want to be in front you need to be early… I get there as soon as they open the section which is roped off.

I’m usually solo, but I believe they also limit the number of people who can enter with each chair or scooter.

just booked a little impromptu trip for the 8/26-29 and saw the 27th is sold out. in the past once i was able to buy them day of despite it saying sold out but that was before covid. has anyone seen that this year at all?
Rarely guests are successful getting tickets to a sold out party. You can ask at Guest Services but I would not anticipate being successful. There are far more reports of guests being unsuccessful than successful.
