Official 2017 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

:tinker::tinker:FAIRY FRIDAY!!! :tinker::tinker:

I've only been to DL once before and it was many years ago so I'm really thinking of this like a first-time trip.

I WOULD have been excited for Indy, but :(
I WOULD have been excited for TOT (even with GoG overlay), but :(

So, aside from that, I'm excited for Pirates since I hear it's superior at DLR and also like @roxymama all those dark rides that are not at WDW. I'm also really wanting to do the Storybook Canals (just seems charming). Like everyone else can't wait to try out RsR at DCA and, believe it or not, I really kinda want to ride that Wheel of Death. :D

Mickeys fun wheel is amazing!!

make sure to go on the swinging gondola and not the stationary!! Its amazing! we stand up in it and try to swing it more!

I will be the one on the ground shaking my head NOPE while you all go on the wheel of death. But I absolutely want a picture in front of it (especially during the race) because it is so very pretty!

Actually I prefer the stationary ones: you get a WAY better view from the top! That's not to say the swinging ones don't have their charm, but it's much more fun for me to see the whole resort laid out before us!

I'm a frequent visitor to DL (I live less than 10 miles away), so the thing I'm looking forward to most is the race itself! :) I'm actually still looking for a good race shirt, my shopping so far hasn't yielded one I like, but I'm going back through the parks this weekend so I'll keep looking!

Wouldn't it be a brilliant idea if the pacers wore wings with their intervals on each wing? Run 30 on the left, Walk 30 on the right?

That would be so fun! But as someone who nearly lost an eye due to someone else's wing a few Tinks ago, I'm afraid to wear wings myself. (NOT that I'm anywhere near tall enough for the tip of my wing to be at someone else's eye level, unlike the dude who cut in front of me that time...) :tink:

Are we talking about wings again? How about these? Too Tink does Vegas?

:tinker::tinker:FAIRY FRIDAY !!!! :tinker::tinker:

A must do/see for any WDW regulars or 1st timers is:
For first timers....stop by City Hall and get your special button.
Pirate of the Caribbean....our version is longer and more complete.
Eating at the Blue Bayou, a plus is a water side table.
Matterhorn...must see the scary "snow monkey".
Story Book Canal Boat ride at twilight, when the lighting is just right and all the lights are starting to come on. ***May not want to do this right after the race because you're getting in and out of those cute little boats.

These must do are not attractions but I think these things make DL unique and you can get a real feel of how special this park is.....
Saturday night watching swing dancing and listening to the music in the Royal Theater. Grab a snack and just watch and enjoy.
Watching the Flag Ceremony at the flag pole in Town Square. I think it's always moving and all branches of the military are invited to join in. It's very patriotic.
Head to Critter Country and look at the details along the path where the Pooh ride is. The Pooh Corner store has candy and treat section.
Grab a bench anywhere in the park.......best people watching in the world here.

Oh man, I wasn't going to go to the parks (last minute trip, trying to be cheap...as cheap as possible at Disney anyways) but now I really want to after reading about everyone's favorites! It sounds so fun. I'm only in LA for 36 hours, so it would have to be on Saturday. I went to DLR for one day last year around the DLH and it was packed, but we had a great time. That was my first trip in 15ish years. I might make a game time decision a few days before :)

Thank you. It has been a few years since I have done any cakes. My kids don't eat cake, lol, and they are a crazy amount of work. I switched my Disney obsession to magic bands for a while, I painted the ones in my profile pic, but I have given that up too, since they have so many cute designs now. I need to find a new outlet for Disney art one of these days.

Holy cr*p, your magic band art is amazing!! The cakes are too. Wowzers! Yes, you need another Disney art outlet, you're so talented!!

Question of the Week: What is your favorite ride/show/attraction at the Disneyland Resort? What would you recommend as "can't-miss" attractions for a first-time visitor? If you're a first-timer, what are you most looking forward to in the parks?

I totally agree that Hyperspace Mountain is a must-do even if you're not a Star Wars geek. It is just so cool. They're switching it back to the original at the end of May, so I'm glad it will still be Hyperspace during the Tink weekend!! I'm still gutted about the Tower of Terror - that was my #1 fave attraction in either park.

I'm also looking forward to the Art Academy in the Animation building in CA Adventure. If you like to draw, or if you wish you could draw, it's really fun!

@MommyLove I'm looking online at the Go Walks and the kind without laces are super cute. Do you have a preference between the slip-ons and the lace up ones? #shopping
I have both and the laced ones seem to have more arch support for me. But it looks like you got the slip ons and those really are just fine. I wore both kinds on our trip last week and had zero problems with the slip ons. Glad you got some! Have you worn them around yet?

Flat me plus bonus cat face :).
SMEE!! I love that!!!

My DD and I are doing Ursula and Ariel (decided and "costume" elements purchased before we knew the theme of the race). Can't wait!

10K course looks pretty awesome...DL 10K courses are legit.
Yes!! It looks like a great course. I'm so excited!!

And that 10k does look pretty amazing.
Yippee!!!

Mickey's Fun Wheel of Death! I'm with you, I did it once, never again. Haha!

Yep I have worn them a bunch and they are so comfy. My mom-in-law even bought the same pair!

This is a great question. I'm not positive but I think they have all runners traffic directed thru downtown Disney for security purposes. I'm staying by the convention center too and it would be much easier for me to walk right over up Disneyland drive as well. Hopefully someone can confirm!

I asked on one of the Facebook groups and several DL race veterans confirmed that you CAN access the corrals from Disneyland Drive, though it's a bit of a hike around to the security entrance.

I would not be at ALL surprised to see a soft opening of the new Tower during Tink weekend. (Secretly hoping for one!)

Just checked and the expo maps are online now! Getting things gathered and my suitcase is coming out! :dancer:

Woohoo!!

Thanks for checking on the entrance to the corrals! And I will keep my fingers crossed for a soft opening. That would be awesome!

I highly doubt it. That's a classic Memorial Day weekend opening date and I'd put money that they're not going to open it (even a soft open) two weeks early. Maybe a soft open a day or two early.

Noob alert!

I just printed the 10K waivers for me & my 17 year old daughter. We registered at the same time and put in the same run time. My bib # is 31631 and hers is 31766. Help me understand what this means please. I thought we'd be one # apart.

Also, any idea on what the corals will be?
