Official 2017 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

ATTQOTW:

looking forward to also getting my pink coast to coast as well as an additional challenge medal. Staying at the Disneyland hotel, and just running my first Disneyland race.

I'd say also getting my blue coast to coast but I can't remember if I qualify anymore with my half in January being cancelled....

Ooooh I like the idea of Fairy Fridays!!

This one is easy for me. Running through the castle!!!!!! I've been wishing and hoping for that for so many years now. I started lurking trip reports YEARS before actually getting brave enough to start running and my only rundisney park experience is in Epcot to date. There's also something pretty emotional about my first chance being at Walt's castle (even though I'm a WDW gal.) They give people CRY tissues right? I'm gonna need one.

My first runDisney event at DL, my daughters first runDisney race and taking my Mom back to DL for the first time since 1991!
But most importantly, being there with my daughter and Mom (hoping it happens) and celebrating my daughters 6th birthday and mothers day!

Looks like I am on the same plan as roxymama - will be getting my C2C at the wine & dine in November.

Sadly no C2C for me just yet. Our already scheduled fall trip ends Sat of W&D weekend so I'm running, but not the Half, I'll be home!! If I can find a way to weasel myself one more day and get a bib then maybe...but I don't want to make my hubby travel with a 4 year old by himself. Sooooo :(
But that's ok, I'm doing Chicago half late Sept and the medal is the size of a large salad plate. So don't feel too sorry for me :)

I'm pretty sure you get it. Make sure they give you a wristband at the expo. :)

I definitely have moments of "holy bleep, Walt was here!" It's pretty crazy. <3

Love Fairy Fridays!!!

I think most looking forward to exploring DL. We were there once years ago with my son, but were totally naive about planning for Disney and so didn't get much accomplished on our day trip. So, just soaking in the atmosphere and enjoyment of mostly new experiences for us with Disney. Secondly finally earning a coast to coast medal which I've been wanting for a long time - and bonus that it's an anniversary year for it!

Looking forward to my first Disneyland race and my first C2C medal! (Reading the other comments, it sounds like I'll only get the pink one for doing Princess + Tink, rather than both the pink and blue as they gave out last year. Bummer.) Tink is my favorite Disney character (aside from Oswald), so I'm also really looking forward to all the merch and just immersing myself in the theme. My mom just decided to take the trip with me, so I'll have her on the sidelines for the 10K and Half and in the parks to play, too! Yay!

Question of the Week: What are you most looking forward to during Tink weekend...race-wise or otherwise?

I've had fairly good luck at Disney races setting PRs, so I'd like to be able to break 2:45 finally during the race. I'm sitting at a 2:49 (formally 2:52) and I know as I work hard through the next two months that I can do it. The course is flat, I know the streets. I'm so close... maybe I'll get some pixie dust and get to 2:44:59.

I'd think you would have a better chance at a DL race since the parks portions are done early...and like you said, you're more familiar with the area. Good luck!

Also, whenever I try to type "think" on my phone, it almost always auto-corrects to "Tink." :tinker:

If anyone is looking for a half or challenge bib, I just got an email from a TA that is trying to unload some. $175 for Half and $300 for challenge (prices are before Active fees are added). No room or ticket requirement. If interested, let me know and I can PM you the info.

This agency is legit - I bought a Tink 10K bib through them last year. Doesn't seem like they have any 5K or 10K bibs available.

It's silly, but I'm most looking forward to wearing my birthday button.

This will be my third Tink (plus third PDC) and thus my third time at Disneyland for my birthday. It's now officially a tradition. There's just something about getting to be in my happy place for a time period I used to avoid and beg people to ignore that makes all the bad memories melt away. The last two birthdays have been the best of my life and I'm looking forward to another incredible birthday.

They said the cancelled half would still qualify for C2Cs.

The C2C wording is exactly the same for 2017 as it was in 2016 and people got blue and pink doing just Princess and Tink last year. I'm fairly sure we're getting the 10th anniversary medal and the pink edition unless they're interpreting the exact same eligibility rules from last year differently.

From the C2C page:

Love the idea of Fairy Fridays !!
Honestly, I'm looking forward to EVERYTHING. The expo, picking up my new D & B purse, the race, everything that race weekend brings, and spending another Mother's Day in DL. Love getting my Mother's Day carnation flower at the gate and a nice Mother's Day dinner at the Blue Bayou. It's just a fun race weekend in my favorite place.

Thanks girl! What killed me on the race back during Princess were the two random overpass/bridges at miles 10 and 11, plus it being very exposed with sun! I know in May that we have the "May Grey" in so Cal, so I'm looking forward to cooler temps and no sun. I got this for sure.

Yeah, that's the tough section for sure. Those sloped roads have really done a number on me in the past!

So, is it typically cloudy and cool in May in California? I was hoping for some nice So Cal sunshine.

I remember feeling chilly and glad I'd brought a hoodie last year. There's, like, zero humidity there so 60s there felt cooler than 60s at home.

I wouldn't say that. It could be just about anything really. But it's more like desert weather in general: warm, sun out during the day and cool hoody weather at night once the sun sets. Could see some fog possibly. It could also be overcast. Might even be a freak rainstorm (rain is much more rare all over the state, though, in the late spring and through summer).

Basically: layers are your best friend ;).
