Official 2017 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

Hi everyone! I just signed up for the Tinkerbell 1/2!! I'm very excited. Single mom coming by myself. I was just in Vegas earlier this month for the Rock n' Roll series runs. I did the 5K and 10K. I was doing good going to the gym the first 6 months of the year then went on Vacation and just got "busy" :( so I went into those with basically no traning the few months prior. I drank a lot because it was my first trip to Vegas lol When I say a lot, I normally might have a drink once every month or two. But so I had "steady" drinks. And I made through just fine. VERY sore at the end lol But I mainly walked it cause I wanted to finish and I ran the 5K the day before. It was my very first 10K. I came home and Signed up for Tink 1/2 lol I've been at the gym 5 days a week since! I can use my 10K time from vegas but it wasn't very good 1:29:40 So The only timed 10K I could find before valentines day near me is January 1st! lol I'll be spending near year trying for better time! Ordered a new pair of running shoes on cyber Monday too. Anywho. I'll also becoming by myself on my very first trip to disneyland! We usually go to Disney World. Its closer. Any tips on best places to eat? I feel very out of my element. I'm like "i can't book dining yet?" lol. I've still got our disney cruise to pay off by july so I'm trying to do it cheap but see the absolute don't wanna misses. I booked my room though the disney land site. I did the clarion good neighbor because it was the cheapest. Doing one day in each park. Anyone dressing up for the race?

Well at least you don't have to worry about being too hot during a January race :)
I'm still debating wings vs no wings for my race outfit. I have a pretty shirt (not disney) but that's the extent of my outfit decisions.
For food, I've just been youtubing "must eat disney snacks" or phrases like that and also got a guidebook. I'm gonna eat on the go more than sit-down.

You will find that Disneyland's CS meals are, for the mostpart, way better than at WDW. My absolutely favorite place to eat at Disneyland is Cove Bar in California Adventure. Earl of Sandwich in Downtown Disney is always solid, too. And Plaza Inn and Rancho del Zocalo in Disneyland Park...

Also liked Carnation Cafe, Steakhouse 55...I have yet to find a Table Service dinner at Disneyland that has really blown be away (I've been to Steakhouse 55 for brunch only)...The Surf's Up breakfast at Paradise Pier was good for a character meal. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Did someone say wings? I think these would be totally practical during the race. o_O

LOL I was looking at that site for Wing Ideas.... I was thinking of doing Miniature version of tink wings lol I was thinking of making me "Fawn" because I have sportswear patterns and I sew. I have really really long brown hair so I can pull it all up and braid it. I Do wings I don't want them to be annoying me the whole time. I ran behind a spiderman in vegas... I'm like I don't know now he is not DYING in that costume durring the 10K. But I can totally turn Fawns costume in to a running outfit :)

I also was going to do more food on the go but though I wanted to do like 1 don't miss table service meal... lol

Just a reminder for all Southwest Airline stalkers...tomorrow is the day.
Per their site "On December 6, 2016 we will open our schedule for sale through June 2, 2017."

Now I just need to finalize if I want to fly in on Thursday evening so I have a FULL day on Friday to play OR fly in early Friday. I don't have my hotel booked for Thur, but finding one night somewhere when it's just me is not that hard. Hmmmmm
(I'm doing the half, so no real need to be there early but it gives me more park time if I decide to go that route)

I booked the hotel from Thursday to Monday, now I just need to find flight. Anyone know when Frontier will be releasing their dates?

Do they give a timeframe like Southwest does? I've never flown with them so I'm not sure.

I have hotel Thursday - Tuesday and am trying to decide if I want to keep that or change it to Thursday - Monday. :confused3 I keep going back and forth.

My plan at the moment is to fly in on earliest possibly flight Friday morning (since I gain time, yay) and out on an afternoon one Monday (since I lose time, boo) But flying in Thursday night adds less travel stress on Friday BUT gives me the "all by myself for awhile" thing while I wait for sis. Hmmmmm I guess I'll see what flights look like (wish I could see them now...I've already stalked the week prior for some idea.)
I'd like to do a 3 day ticket so that I can have early morning hours at DL on Saturday since I may be in bed early-ish that night for "being rested for my race" purposes. We shall see if that actually plays out or if I'll be too tempted by the allure of shorter lines later at night. Hopefully my "good runner" angel on my shoulder will win out over my lil park demon on the other.

Right now I'm planning on early as possible flights for both days. The flight there is glorious with gaining time, the flight back SUCKS!!

Personally, I found that at Disneyland it was SO hard to stay off of my feet leading up to races. Especially because my first DL trip was a race trip, so I wanted to see it all. But being able to walk to the parks from the hotels, and being able to park hop so easily (mind still blown by that), meant that I was on my feet a TON! :faint: I'll probably do the same in May, if I'm being totally honest with myself. :teeth:

I see next to no availability on site for race weekend.... am I missing something?

I tired 5/10-5/16, 5/11-5/15, 5:11-5/16, 5/11-5/17 5/10-5/14...

Or are all these dates really sold out?

Seems Saturday is the sold out date. The days surrounding it have availability. Makes sense since people will come stay that night for the half marathon next day. I found availability all the other days.

Thank you! Let me try that

You are right.... now to stay onsite and move or just offsite....probably just offsite

The Princess half medals were released today and they changed the design of the half from the previous years. So this is just me pledging to myself that I am going to stop envisioning myself crossing the finish and getting the Tink medal as it has looked for awhile now...just in case it ends up being a total redesign as well.

That being said...do y'all think they will do a total redesign on Tink this year or do you think it'll look the same?

I hope not.... because I really want the medal as it looks now....
