Official 2017 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

I ended up during Princess the other weekend having to take my water bottle with me (with Mio Electrolyte add in... I HATE water). I try to not have a water bottle if I can help it, but between my lingering cough from being very sick in early February and 20+ degree warmer weather than I've been used to, I needed the constant source of water. I ran the WDW Marathon 2016 without any extra water, though, so... it changes for me. Tink I might bring water with me at least for the half, but I'm not sure yet. I'll decide that morning what I'm doing. If I still have a cough, I'm bring water for all three races.

Don't they deliberately water down the Powerade? I always thought that was a conscious choice making it taste so terrible, lol!

Hey, I have found out that Beast will be the pacers at this years half! More info here for those that are interesting http://beastpacing.com/51417-tinkerbell-half-marathon

I am wondering anyone has ran with these pacers before? Do they do a steady pace to get you to the finish line in that time, or do they do run/walk/run?

Thanks!
That's interesting, I thought there was a whole thing about Galloway paces only at Disney races from now on - maybe it's just WDW races?

I would think you would be able to find the pacers at the expo and talk to them about how they plan on running the race...keep an eye on the program (whenever that comes out) and see if they have a booth at the expo. :)

I hope this 2:45 pacer does better than the girl at Princess. She sprinted and walked but lost her at mile 10 because she sped up.

I'm excited to learn how he runs! Maybe it'll be a better fit.

It looks like Beast Pacing has a face book page so maybe you'll be able to ask some questions earlier than the expo over there?

There's 0.00% chance I'll be anywhere near the 1:30 pacer, but I do really like the name Glimber :)

Any of you DL experts have any ideas for something special I can do with DH for our anniversary. I would like to surprise him with something. Dinner recommendation, or a tour? We will be flying in on Friday and leaving on Wednesday. We are both running on Saturday and I am doing the half on Sunday.

@Ariel484 The 2:15 pacer is wearing an InB hat and tech shirt. I just wanted to alert you to that fact :)

Ok, I'll stop posting now.
She's an Ambassador! I recognize her. :)

The one signature at DL is Napa Rose - they have a chef's table dinner, you could try that or the regular dinner at Napa Rose.

I've never done it, but the "Walk in Walt's Footsteps" tour seems pretty cool!

If you're a fan of going the DIY route, I made some pockets to add to my leggings. I don't like running with anything around my waist, and I didn't want my phone stuck in my Roo Sport. I just took some old leggings I didn't wear anymore, sewed 3 sides, and then used stitch witchery to glue it to my running leggings. Worked like a charm for Princess and I was able to put it exactly where it worked for me.

I've been thinking about doing this to my compression shorts. I'm worried about adding it to them while I'm not wearing them and it not working when I put them on due to stretching the material. Did you have an issue with this on yours, or how did you avoid it?

TIA!

I know you didn't ask me, but when I have added pockets to my leggings I have just sewn them on using a zigzag stitch. Works great and I have not had any problems with the stretching.

I love wearing sun dresses to the parks, so I bought a bunch of capri length leggings. I cut the legs off just above the knee and give them a new hem. Then I use the fabric I cut off the legs to make pockets on the shorts. They are great for bag free park touring.

Does anyone know if there are any discounts out there for the Half?
Right now I think only if you sign up at a runDisney race expo...but keep checking with TAs, they may be running deals to try to unload bibs as we get closer (i.e. - Dark Side half bibs for $99 right now!).

I also typically run in a sparkle skirt with pockets so haven't usually worn a belt for a half. I do sometimes carry a handheld bottle because I do NOT like gatorade, so I usually carry my own electrolyte drink and then just get water from the aid stations.

When I first read that about Beast pacing I was TOTALLY imaging pacers dressed as the Beast. Not very fitting for the Tink race, but that would have been pretty awesome at this past Princess weekend right?

And, as a total tangent on this Tink thread...

I'm really excited to see the new Beauty and Beast live action movie. I've loved the other live actions they've remade, so I hope this one is good too!

I didn't have any issues with the stretchy material. I made sure I figured out exactly where I wanted the pocket while I was wearing the leggings (put my phone in it and everything). I had a couple different versions - one had edges to the pocket and the other was just the simple pocket that I recommended (sewn on three sides). The simple pocket that was a pretty exact fit for my phone actually worked the best. (I hope this all makes sense - it's kinda hard to describe!). I used a lot of stitch witchery - all 4 sides, an X to the corners, and then another piece horizontal across the middle. I don't think it's going anywhere!

I didn't want to sew it to my leggings because I can't sew in a straight line to save my life and I didn't want it to look too strange. Also I wanted to make sure it would work, hence the non-permanent version to start. Like @HockeyMomNH suggested, I also used a zig-zag stitch to keep it secure.

Does anyone know if there are any discounts out there for the Half?

Acclaim has the challenge down to $299 (I keep hoping for a bigger discount!), but I haven't seen any half discounts yet. I asked at the Princess expo and they said they didn't have any discounts. They were just directing people to sign up through the regular method on iPads they had set up.
