Since everyone on the running thread is talking about what fuel they carry. Can I ask Tink-half vets what they like to physically carry during the half marathon? I've been a bare bones person, but the longest I've ever ran a race was just over 90 minutes. So adding an hour or more is uncharted territory for me.
I don't think I'd like those belts with all the little bottles, but I've been intrigued by spibelts. I have one of those large arm bands with a zipper pouch so I have room for some fuel and room key, cash, etc in there. Phone will slip in and out easily for race pics. But wondering if water stops are sufficient to leave any bottles at home.
Advise from Tink Half or other Rundisney half vets?
Is my phone case/pouch and myself enough?
From having done the Tink half in 2016 and the SWLS half earlier this year, I don't think there is any need for you to carry water. There are water stations at every mileage marker. I did not carry water and never felt like I needed it before it was available (although I power walk the races; I don't run them). What you are talking about carrying is exactly what I have carried for my two races, with the addition of sunglasses (which I wore on my hat for Tink until I needed them and carried in a small pouch for SWLS because my Leia buns didn't accommodate a hat). I carried room key, credit card, phone, chapstick, energy bar. For Tink, I put everything in the pockets of my running tights. For SWLS, I carried everything in a small pouch because my costume didn't have any pockets.
