Official 2017 Star Wars - Light Side Half Marathon Weekend (Jan 12th - 15th, 2017)

I think I remember reading the VIP lounge is new this year?

I'll be on my own initially with my 5 year old son - we get in Wednesday and my wife doesn't arrive until Friday night. If I buy the VIP access any guesses as to whether I'll be able to bring my son with me for the race package and shopping? I don't want to buy him a ticket as well, but I'm willing to spend the extra $$ for me so I don't have to drag him through all the lines and merchandise areas...

At least in Orlando, the expos are wide open to anyone. I assume the same thing is the case here, but others can correct me if I'm wrong!

According to RunDisney's website - it is required for everyone that is over the age of 3.

Ok just caught up on the thread

Thanks to the torrential rain and DH's surprise 40th party this weekend I didn't get my last 4 mile long run in. No big deal though. I'll most likely do a short run tonight then either Wednesday night or Thursday morning. We hit the road when the kids get out of school on Thursday.

Friday I did manage to get our shirts made. For the 10 and kids races, DS, DD and I are wearing black t's with an orange iron on of BB8 wearing mickey ears and it says Rolling to the Finish Line. For the Half I'm most likely wearing my Raw Threads May the Course be With You SS tee and a sparkle skirt with blue thunder looking design on it. I'll try to post pics later.

Today I'm hitting walmart for last minute trip supplies. DH caught a cold so I'll be stocking up on airborne and Zicam!

The weather throughout California should be a bit better by the time we drive down on Thursday but Im still worried. I know the grapevine can get mudslides so fingers crossed that doesn't happen!

Remember to hydrate all week long! That makes a huge difference for me I've found!

I managed to complete a 12 mile run yesterday (the furthest I have ever run!) so I am starting to feel ready for the HM this weekend. I am also thinking a bit about my race nutrition plan - the event guide says there will be one nutrition stop at mile 8 where Clif product will be distributed. Does anyone who has done this race (or other races) in the past know anything more specific about what will be available at that nutrition station? I have been using the Clif Bloks in my training so I am wondering if they will have those or something else.

In the past they have given out CLIF SHOT Energy Gels. I personally don't like the gels (texture is too weird for me) so I bring my own fuel (honey stingers). Sometimes Clif will have samples at the expo as well so if you haven't tried the gel, you can try it there.

We won't be there til Friday afternoon, so we're in the same boat. It's our first expo, so not looking for anything in particular. I pre-ordered pins, so if that's all I leave with, so be it. HOpefully there will be stuff left, though.

Thanks for the reminder to hydrate. I think I'll get one run in this morning. We leave Friday morning - looks to be clear. We're driving down as well. Hope your drive is uneventful.

The last two years there has been a decent selection of merchandise available for the Expo on Friday. Some stuff is sold out, but I felt like there was still a lot of stuff available. I bought the Inaugural I Did It Shirt for the Rebel Challenge on Friday afternoon. Although I didn't get last year's, it was also available on Friday afternoon.

2 - Did we not get corral assignments for the 10K yet? I was told by someone who is running the challenge that she had her corral, so I looked up my bib# but there is no corral list online for the 10K, only the 1/2 and challenge. I haven't gotten any emails but she got one with lots of info on pickup and other things.

RunDisney sent out an email titled Download Waivers, You Can on 12/23 FYI.

But you won't know corral for 10K until you're there.

Correct. But I don't think strollers are allowed (unless I'm mixing up WDW and DLR).

Expect gel. And if you're slow, expect that it won't be there. Carry everything you need and use with you; that's my advice. My brother, who thinks he has a stomach of steel, destroyed a personal best race by taking nutrition on the course that he hadn't tried out AND he didn't drink water with it. He says that he felt all the water from his body just go to his gut and sit there. Destroyed his race for him. He finished, and I'm sure he was still twice as fast as me, but he was on track for a terrific race and he didn't get that. Nothing new on race day. (says the person who is considering buying new shoes tomorrow)

Besides, I think I could only convince DH to wear a shirt!

I'm running my first DL race in May and I was wondering if anyone has family/friends doing the Spectator Viewing party. I'd love to hear a recap of how it was and where viewing in the park was located.
