Missing it by one day is going to super sting. I've been stalking the Disney website looking for availability. Hoping somehow my magical Disney visa will help, or maybe I can score a RO, but I sure would like FD! On a positive note I'm FINALLY caught up!! Woohoo!!!

My DH was in DL on the Matterhorn. We went to the hotel to rest and realized his phone was gone. He ran back to the park looking for it. Found it thanks to a helpful CM. It was sure scary.

Once we were walking through Tomorrowland at DL in the evening. We saw 2 kids sized shoes a couple steps apart (looked like the kid had just stepped out of them). We were near an info booth so handed them over. Then walked a bit further and noticed a family with three kids, including a little boy crying hysterically and the parents looking around. We realized it was that family and were able to direct them back to the CM for their shoes!

Another time we went to sit at Tomorrowland Terrace for a snack and found a souvenir bag with bubble gun. We turned it over to a CM. As we were finishing, a dad came frantically over asking if anyone had seen his son's bag. Luckily the CM hadn't walked it all the way up to Lost and Found so they were able to get it back!

With the assistance of KimBean, finally about to figure out some actual numbers, but I feel I'm missing something.
Travelling with 2 adults and a child - staying at CBR (standard room 202/nt)- cost of stay, tix (5 day) , PH and upgrade to DDP seems to be $3068 (based on FD being QSDP)
However, if a RO is offered of even 15% and I get the CDN ticket offer (even with PH its $905), pay full price for DDP it seems to be $2916.
Am I missing something, or is this truly one of those situations where the upgrades to get "free dining" costs more than paying for dining?

Keep at it, I just added 9/30 to my previously 10/1-10/7 trip a couple of weeks ago when I got a much better price flying out 9/30 than what I was seeing for 10/1. Just keep swimming, just keep swimming

The only good thing about it is that it tells people to book with a TA. So, maybe they will all book the same TA and then we only have to worry about that TA instead of the masses. (Yep, just trying to make myself feel better about "outsiders" finding out about FD!! )

I really don't understand how off-site saves money. After taking into account the $20/day parking at the parks, the $20-30/night resort fee and $15-20/night self parking fee it comes out way more expensive than on property. We have been driving down to FL for the last two trips and it's so much more convenient than flying so we'll be doing that this time too.

We have 6 adults and 2 kids so we have two rooms at CBR. With tickets, our package is 5300. We can get a 3br villa right outside of the park for 750. Of course we have to add tickets but 40 a day to park isn't going to put us anywhere near the on-site prices. Waiting to see what FD and RO discounts are before making a final decision though.

What resort and dates are you looking for? Have you called and talked to a CM? Some people say they have luck calling even when website shows no rooms. Good luck!

As a mom of a child who lost a shoe at Disney, THANK YOU!! We were leaving MK one night after the fireworks (with a million other people) and as we got to the line for our bus, I looked down at my sleeping son in his stroller and realized he had lost a shoe. I knew there was no way we were ever finding it, but my dad being the saint he is, headed back through the crowd. I think he was calling out asking if anyone had seen a shoe and some equally saintly woman told him she had found a shoe and put it up on a fence post. I have never been happier to see a shoe in my entire life!!

Contemporary. Yup called over the weekend. I remember last year visa gave a different number and I was able to snag CBR when it wasn't available online...

concerning the website posting from Disney last night... Some think Disney does stuff like this on purpose to get a feel for the reaction. Last year it was the 2 credits for some buffets that came up online.. there was an uproar and then nothing. Sometimes companies release things in the web/press to get a feeling.. Disney has been known to post and then pull things

And, interestingly, the page is still there ( https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/special-offers/resort-stay-dine-package/ ) but they have changed the metadata to just read "FPO" instead of the details about free dining and the dates.

They're working in the 80's/90's sections right now. Rumours? Reports? Are that new rooms won't be available til the beginning of June.

I believe they are still working on yet first building (#8) and it won't be bookable until June, but they should be done with that building within a week or two so they should start assigning those sooner.
