Rewatching the parks panel. Bob Chapek made sure to focus on this is just the beginning of things for World Showcase AND he did not mention the name Future World once.

In 2010 WDW offered 305 theme park hours this week (319 if you count hours where future world was closed but world show case was open, because future world used to close at 7pm). This year (2017) they offered 353.5 theme park hours this week. That is a 16% increase in hours included in the "base rate." I'm not the one denying the truth. The truth is that Disney is offering more hours than they did 7 years ago at a rate pretty close to the increase in attendance. This is ignoring the EMH and paid events, we are just talking about what an average guest with a single day or MYW ticket can do.

I get frustrated on a day like yesterday, when the news is good, when the mouse is up-ing his game to a higher level, and you lead a charge full of negativity and tell others they are being bamboozled because they are upbeat and optimistic, or simply because they disagree with you (or have an argument based in facts you didn't bother to look up.)

I come hear to read the news which Ryan and many of his comrades work so hard to provide. Most of the time I just skim over the negativity and pessimism to focus on the facts and concrete updates, but when that news is bright, and I come across you telling others they are being bamboozled it gets under my skin. When I then go and check the underlying data behind your claims (WDW hours are decreasing at an alarming rate as Disney takes advantage of its customers by charging for extra events during hours that used to be included) and it turns out it isn't even true I tend to go on a rant, not because I am some drank all the Kool-Aid Disney apologist, but because you can be a real downer sometimes. That is fine 99% of the days, but there are three or four days a year where I just want to hear the good news and be left to enjoy it. Yesterday was one of those days. Tomorrow will not be one of those days, so fell free to return to your regularly scheduled discharging of pessimism and gloom, regardless of the facts.

Do that calculation over a year.... I did this some time back, include EMHs that were
offered say in 2013 vs now. Hours are WAY Down.

Again, this is just not true. 15 years ago was 2002. A single day ticket was $50 today a single day ticket is on average $110 that is a 120% increase not a 225% increase. Adjusted for inflation the ticket price was $68.08 in 2002.
The price of a premium AP has only gone up 28% when adjusted for inflation. The multi day tickets (which is what most people buy and use) has gone up a lot closer to the AP rates. In reality the true cost of theme park tickets has gone up around 35% when you adjust for inflation and use the tickets that most consumers actually buy. This is nowhere near the ridiculous number of 225%

From what TEA says and disney suggests ... most guests buy 1 or 2 day tickets.

I'll give you that...it's a 225% increase...semantics but important ones.

I can't help with the dealing part. I can't switch the brain off...but overall I think I've been on both the good and bad sides of the announcements.

I like ratatouille...really like tron...I'm cool with the Mickey ride but hate to see the movie ride get replaced (a gut and update would have been preferable...as we gain no new attraction in a light on attractions park)...

Really like the mission:space stuff cause its a good rehab...and like the themed restaurant...not a mixed used cafeteria like be our guest...

Guardians...well there's an obvious issue there but I can skip that...

Like the new magic kingdom theater. Actually think magic kingdom is getting the best out of the news.

The Star Wars hotel is too prototype to go deep on now...we'll see.

And the "DVC" at Caribbean is not a great idea and that's been hashed out a billion times. It's a 50/50 kinda split.

I just found a press release that details how the Emirates Airline, a Doppelmayr 10-passenger monocable detachable gondola crossing the Thames, has a/c powered by lightweight ultracapacitors that are charged in a "split second" as the cabin moves thru a station.

DanBoris has been abosofrickinglutely amazing on this... I'd suggest anyone interested defer to him....

The closest thing I can think of is one of those murder mystery parties where there are a ton of actors and all the guests have to play a role and try to figure out what is going on

I can see it running similar to a cruise ship - where people arive within a few hours of each other and there is a "navigator" of activities and events and everyone will eat together and there will be performances, etc.

These are exactly the analogies I came up with right away when relating the news to DH. Can't wait to find out more!

I'm uncomfortable with heights under certain circumstances and uncomfortable with enclosed spaces under others. Then this thing breaks down and has no a/c? Yes, I will stay far away!

Just an fyi, they are rumored to be cutting down the evacuation time from the designer's 15 minutes to a maximum of 12.

I don't think they would leave people stranded in the air with no AC for overlong, but then again I've heard stories of people trapped on the monorail for four hours.

So basically, all mass transit at risk for something happening. I wouldn't single these new skylines out before they are even built.

You're being way too logical. There is no logic involved in this.

The monorail doesn't feel enclosed to me. Besides I try to take the ferry as often as my party will let me. I enjoy the ferry and the other boats.

I can't find anything, but I'm going to also voice my hope for a location change. Not necessarily to be closer, but because it sounds like their venue wasn't equipped to handle the crowd capacity they set. They are getting PAX/Mega Con level crowds- they need a venue to match.

They probably will want to keep it near a park though. I just don't see the Anaheim Convention Center working forever unless they make some serious changes.

Wouldn't Orlando be a better fit for 2021- right before the 50th?

ETA: Apparently the Anaheim Convention Center is the largest on the west coast. Weird. It can only seat 7,500 in one room tops and is 1,600,000 square feet total. Compare that to say, the Swan & Dolphin can seat 15,000 at once and has even more space.

I'll need backup on this...but it's not opinion. Guest services in wdw can verify that the demands and expectations of their clientele is so ungodly high at times that this would be a nightmare without AC...it's a function of how much they charge and in particular - that pop, AoA, and Caribbean block is a potential powder keg. People have traditionally had slot of complaints at Caribbean...because they felt they were "splurging" and had heightened expectations.

I can't think no climate control is going to be seriously considered. They know better. I would think tbere would have to be sometype of battery powered fan unit...likely a mini hybrid or solar engine or sorts.

A 10 minute ride and 5 minute walk to yachtsmans in a collared shirt for a $64 ribeye is not gonna go over well. It is what it is.

And Americans are spoiled and there's no chance of shutting that down...details at 11

I agree. I think that Disney is now consistently erring on the more air conditioned side. Their new rides are nearly all opening with Air Conditioned queues. I can't see them adding features without AC.

With the technological hurdles apparently crossed for A/C, I think it would be a little disappointing if these didn't have it.
