Official 2017 D23 Expo Thread

Do we know yet where D23 2019 will be held? Can I hope for Orlando given everything happening/opening there in 2019??
I'd love it in Orlando as WDW is my home park and I live less then an hour away.... downside being there are a few Disney vloggers I follow who I doubt them and their elaborate cosplays would be able to travel to the east coast

Ratatouille is a net gain of one though - that isn't replacing anything

Correct. I was thinking more of FW East & West and the empty spaces that are just begging to have new attractions hosted in them. IMHO, WS is doing much better than FW E&W.

As for the spine project, we'll have to wait until we see details. But, it would not surprise me if its just making the flow of traffic easier and repainting, redecorating the spine area, not new attractions.

Thank you...because the snark is ridiculous..

These moves are part of a bigger agenda...it's about where the money comes from to get investment funds to buy disney stock. It's not about them meeting "guest demand" and it's not boiled down to obeying the microEcon curve.

Again...people should have a clue before they ever tell someone to not worry about the cost.

You're welcome lockedoutlogic!

I've always been a realist, which means I frequently bust people's bubbles.

Do you want two parks to be running at half of their attraction capacity at the same time?

No, but I also don't want there to be so few attractions that standby waits of 60-90-120 minutes become the norm.

Several folks on these forums have said the best way to spread out the crowds is to offer more attractions. If you look at FW E&W at Epcot, you do have attractions, but you have plenty of empty buildings that are just begging for attractions to be added to them.

They gave a glimpse of the spine, which is a complete overhaul. I think they've heard/seen the backlash with all of the construction at Studios and know they can't do that again.

I would also like to see more details of the spine overhaul. I suspect, though, that its going to be removing some items and redecorating.

As far as the backlash at Studios, most of the backlast I read about was caused by Disney closing several attractions to build the two new lands, which resulted in less for people to do at DHS. I'm not advocating closing things at Epcot, i'm advocating filling those empty spaces with more than meet & greets, shopping and food. Give me a good attraction, i'll visit it. But, we've done the three M&Gs at Epcot, i'm not going to buy stuff in those stores and we don't eat in FW. So, that doesn't do much for me.

On my way back from Gatlinburg where we rode the large gondola thing up the mountain. No AC, 85 out, open windows, lots of people, it was too hot for this Floridian.

They have to do something in 105 heat index.

Playing catch up, but where's the Brazil announcement?

Thank you...I'm "playing along" with this for arguments sake. But there's no way that TDO accepts a non-ac transport system. I mean like a 0.0003451% chance.

The idea that "people will manage" is quaint and so Eisenhowerian...but who the heck are we talking about here?!?

I'm sure that will sink in as this discussion unfolds.

The Brazil pavilion was announced..100%...because it was "sure thing"...

It's just that everyone took a potty break at that moment at once and the cell system also had a rare complete blackout simultaneously...so no evidence.

I would be shocked if the gondolas are open in ANY way (to much propensity for idiot guests to throw things out or for Florida raid to get in) or if they have no A/C. Honestly, I can't see us using the gondolas at all anyway. We have our own car and prefer to drive everywhere except MK (we monorail or walk from our home base at BLT).

It's of primary use to boardwalk, yacht and beach, swolphin, the pop block...it's not really a functional propertywide option like the monorail is because of the Epcot connector...

Ok, yeah that I agree with - especially Wonders of Life - just empty space other than for the Festival center. And if they still have the pysical attractions it seems like it would be easy to retheme Cranium command to Inside Out

Great idea!

While I agree that it is not an intelligent move, the article linked by Roxyfire is stating that the plans are for it to not have A/C. I'm hoping they come to the realization before installing it all that this *might* not be the best idea...in Florida...especially in the summer...

The Brazil announcement was pulled due to recent issues with the current political enviornment in Brazil, but by all reports it is still happening for the 50th.

There is absolutely no way that I'm getting in any enclosed vehicle or space in Florida that doesn't have A/C!

I think if there's no traditional ac...there will be some other method of climate control...this is the straightforward approach: nothing has been built in Florida without AC for 50 years..

...now discuss among yourselves...

The article says, "Air conditioning does not appear to be included but the Omega cabins will include more open windows than normal", so seems that they are counting on the air circulating as the gondolas move? They won't be glass enclosed hot boxes, but I am not so sure using the same method of cooling as the Friendship Boats is the best move either.
