That was as close as we got then...I would have to think that was slated for opening day and it missed when they rushed the opening to beat universal.

Nor would anyone else in a place that hits 80 probably (guess) 310 days a year and can hit 90 half of those with constant high humidity.

It bears repeating:

The Doppel Mayer cable cars are a popular feature in Vietnam and they are not air conditioned. The fear/hesitation about this is definitely an American thing. I'm sure whatever they come up with will be done well. There will still probably be a lot of guests who avoid it out of fear/lack of expected comforts, but there will be just as many or not more people happy to use it.

Vietnam is as hot and humid and usually hotter and more humid than Orlando, Florida.

The company Disney is rumored to be working with built that very popular air tram without air conditioning and it works just fine. It won't be for everyone, but there will still be buses. These will be very short rides.

Besides, nothing is confirmed yet. I don't understand why everyone is worked up. I hope they continue to add transportation options; they're going to need it.

225% of $50 is $112.50
Yes, that is true, but you said prices went up 225% If prices had gone up 225% they would currently be $162.50. This is basic math, and yes semantics, but very important semantics when comes down to whether or not what you are saying is true.

I'm still trying to figure out how discussion of pricing policies affects the announcements at all.

I absolutely agree, which is why I was so annoyed that in a thread dedicated to the announcements you continually choose to insert massively off topic pessimism. That is the brunt of what frustrates me. That and, to a lesser extent, the cavalier way you treat data and information, but mainly that.

Ok...am I nuts to think the demands of tourists in Florida would be different than Vietnam?

I think the gondolas will only be "enclosed" in that they have no openings large enough to climb, or fall, out of. They are not sealed glass boxes - like a broken down monorail.

Any glass will be heavily tinted. There would have to be plenty of ventilation so that you could feel the breeze while in motion - like you can on the non-air conditioned boats or parking lot trams. In other words, these will be "enclosed," but also "open air."

I originally though these would absolutely need to have air conditioning, but there are huge technological hurdles to accomplish this. There is not enough surface area for enough solar panels to power an AC unit of any substantial size. A battery that could run all day would have to be enormous - and heavy. Where does that sit on the gondola? How long does it take maintenance to switch out (maybe close to) a hundred of these each night?

Not nuts. My point is it can be done and people will use it. Obviously not everyone, but enough people to make it worth it. If they don't have AC it isn't that wild, that's all. It might be wild to Americans, but on a global level to a park with a global audience, not as much.

I'll give you that...it's a 225% increase...semantics but important ones.

I can't help with the dealing part. I can't switch the brain off...but overall I think I've been on both the good and bad sides of the announcements.

I like ratatouille...really like tron...I'm cool with the Mickey ride but hate to see the movie ride get replaced (a gut and update would have been preferable...as we gain no new attraction in a light on attractions park)...

Really like the mission:space stuff cause its a good rehab...and like the themed restaurant...not a mixed used cafeteria like be our guest...

Guardians...well there's an obvious issue there but I can skip that...

Like the new magic kingdom theater. Actually think magic kingdom is getting the best out of the news.

The Star Wars hotel is too prototype to go deep on now...we'll see.

And the "DVC" at Caribbean is not a great idea and that's been hashed out a billion times. It's a 50/50 kinda split.

I mean...how can I help you? I can't go aww shucksy...due try to be fair. I'm not interested in lecturing you on tone...so I'll kindly decline the reciprocation.

I'll need backup on this...but it's not opinion. Guest services in wdw can verify that the demands and expectations of their clientele is so ungodly high at times that this would be a nightmare without AC...it's a function of how much they charge and in particular - that pop, AoA, and Caribbean block is a potential powder keg. People have traditionally had slot of complaints at Caribbean...because they felt they were "splurging" and had heightened expectations.

I can't think no climate control is going to be seriously considered. They know better. I would think tbere would have to be sometype of battery powered fan unit...likely a mini hybrid or solar engine or sorts.

A 10 minute ride and 5 minute walk to yachtsmans in a collared shirt for a $64 ribeye is not gonna go over well. It is what it is.

And Americans are spoiled and there's no chance of shutting that down...details at 11

A mini fan unit is way different that an AC unit and that would seem very doable.

Actually, I was just telling my wife that most days I like you and find you, for the most part, entertaining. Every once in a while I just think you need to be smacked on the nose or flicked in the ear like my brother might. I'm glad to hear that you found positives in yesterday's announcements. That is a balance I don't often associate with you (and that might be because I glanced at who wrote what more when it annoys me then when I agree with it)

I also think our little personal bickering has hijacked enough of Ryan's thread for the moment. As always, no hard feelings.

I could start to see that...but blowing 95 degree wouldn't go far enough...I fear.

On my way back from Gatlinburg where we rode the large gondola thing up the mountain. No AC, 85 out, open windows, lots of people, it was too hot for this Floridian.

They have to do something in 105 heat index.

Playing catch up, but where's the Brazil announcement?

Ignoring the whole weather part of it....With all the families with little kids do you think Disney would be more inclined to have completely enclosed cars for the gondolas, therefore AC would be needed? I feel like it would be a lawsuit waiting to happen with all these children in high up moving gondolas with large open windows.
If the cars are open-sided, I'm sure there will bars across the openings.

I would be shocked if the gondolas are open in ANY way (to much propensity for idiot guests to throw things out or for Florida raid to get in) or if they have no A/C. Honestly, I can't see us using the gondolas at all anyway. We have our own car and prefer to drive everywhere except MK (we monorail or walk from our home base at BLT).

I have to say that if there is no A/C I wouldn't touch these with a 10ft pole. Suspect I'm not alone, but I guess we'll see!

and just to be clear, I am not saying the won't have A/C - I just don't think it is 100% they will - and, like you say, we shall see! (though speculating is half the fun)
