Official 2017 D23 Expo Thread

People booed? Again, ugh, people are the worst. :(

People booed, but the crowd shut them down quickly with cheers before he spoke. They weren't directing boos at Marty Sklar, I don't believe, rather at the change itself. Upon finishing a well-delivered, kind, compassionate defense of the change, there was only loud applause and murmurs of respect.

That's good to hear. I thought they were booing him talking about the change.

I'm fine with the parks changing. But I'd rather get rid of a ride than make it worse for no reason.

x2

And the main way the parks need to "change" is to have more attractions to accommodate growing crowds and never, ever take things out without replacing...

Marty and Bob have been around for just those things in recent years...it can't happen.

EDITED Sat 6:30 pm;
Parks Panel just announced SWL name, and yes, this was it. They might want to check their IT from now on if they want to keep secrets.

Interesting ... saw someone found this so I tried it.

The SWL graphic on DPB, open up its code source ... do we have a name?

Has one been announced?

I don't see it when I pull the code. If it was hidden type, it would have <!- to start the description. Plus, that's an alternate title for the picture - kind of like a photo caption, so it should show up in a search or even as a hover-over. Disney doesn't typically use alt tags on photos.

My view:

Favorite and least favorite part of today so far?

Least favorite - Standing in line for 2 hours to get in and then standing in line for 3 hours for Animation and not getting in due to a screwup (rumor is they left the doors open upstairs and people took seats). Good news is we have guaranteed seats for Parks and Resorts tomorrow (other choice was Live Action) as compensation.

They've pulled it. It was there. I have screen shots of both.

It was found maybe an hour ago. Between the first time I opened it and the second time I opened it ... Disney had fixed it.

If it meant nothing, why pull it?

True - not doubting you! Just showing what I see.

Plus, I'm a little dubious that the Parks Blog web team is privy to exclusive information like this, or that it wasn't discovered last night when the blog post hit. But mostly, that anyone at Disney in digital content is working Friday at 9 p.m. to remove it from the code. :rotfl2:

So park stars panel had no pictures or videos.

It was almost full with stage pass and sorcerers. We were 8th group in standby and they warned us that space was very limited. Most didn't get in.

It was two story Imagineers and they did a PowerPoint on parks characters.

They showed some really old, rare videos for a lot of characters like some old figment videos.

We talked about tons of characters like figment, orange bird, country bears, potc characters, food rocks, lots of Japan park characters.

We had a phone call from Duncan the parrot in miss adventures falls.

Did you guys realize the dad, mom and dog from cop were in horizons?? I didn't realize that.

So I plan to be in line for Live Action at 3:30 am. There is already a pretty big line outside. We are back in the room getting ready for bed.

It breaks my heart a little but I think we are skipping Parks and Resorts. We have a wristband to meet Moana's voice and then we are going to walk around the floor. Probably see the Pirates archives. I think we'll also try for a stage pass for the Kiss Goodnight panel with Richard Sherman.

Day one was excellent. Yes, there are long lines for stuff but it is worth it. You need a plan and you need to realize you won't get to do everything and you'll have fun.

I posted all my merch pics on instagram. I got to visit Mickey's of Glendale's first thing with a 15 minute wait. My boyfriend got a store pass for the Disney store at 4:30. It kind of sucked, all the good stuff was gone. Then one of our friends went to the Dream store and grabbed me a sorcerer droid.

People weren't booing Marty, they were booing the change. There's a difference.

Also, my wife dressed as the redhead for Halloween one year. Does that make her sexist? I don't REALLY care, but I don't get all this. The Pirates ride depicts Pirates doing bad things. They drown a man in a well for information. The pillage, blunder and loot, and they burn an entire village to the ground. Oh, and they also auction off women. It's terrible but so are the other things. None of those are nice things. They're bloody pirates.

But in the end, it's not that big a deal. Does anyone remember 20 years ago when they had to change the scenes of the pirates chasing women so now they are the women chasing the pirates. Oh well, enough time passes, people forget.

OK, enough of that, when do we get the WIR2 trailer.

I understand your skepticism ... but it was there and now it's not. Somebody is working tonight that fixed it. They didn't fix it last night because they didn't know it was there until someone called it out tonight. And with D23 everyone is working all weekend. We shall find out soon enough, I just think the whole IT thing is quite funny, they live up to their ongoing reputation.
