Official 2017 D23 Expo Thread

So I plan to be in line for Live Action at 3:30 am. There is already a pretty big line outside. We are back in the room getting ready for bed.

It breaks my heart a little but I think we are skipping Parks and Resorts. We have a wristband to meet Moana's voice and then we are going to walk around the floor. Probably see the Pirates archives. I think we'll also try for a stage pass for the Kiss Goodnight panel with Richard Sherman.

Day one was excellent. Yes, there are long lines for stuff but it is worth it. You need a plan and you need to realize you won't get to do everything and you'll have fun.

I posted all my merch pics on instagram. I got to visit Mickey's of Glendale's first thing with a 15 minute wait. My boyfriend got a store pass for the Disney store at 4:30. It kind of sucked, all the good stuff was gone. Then one of our friends went to the Dream store and grabbed me a sorcerer droid.
It sounds like they are not at all equipped to deal with the crowd they drew. Weird, as they would have had to have numbers for selling tickets and the venue. I wondered why it wasn't sold out in advance...

Hope you get to do the things you want! Sherman & Moana sounds awesome!

People weren't booing Marty, they were booing the change. There's a difference.

Also, my wife dressed as the redhead for Halloween one year. Does that make her sexist? I don't REALLY care, but I don't get all this. The Pirates ride depicts Pirates doing bad things. They drown a man in a well for information. The pillage, blunder and loot, and they burn an entire village to the ground. Oh, and they also auction off women. It's terrible but so are the other things. None of those are nice things. They're bloody pirates.

But in the end, it's not that big a deal. Does anyone remember 20 years ago when they had to change the scenes of the pirates chasing women so now they are the women chasing the pirates. Oh well, enough time passes, people forget.

OK, enough of that, when do we get the WIR2 trailer.
Others provided more context above. Whatever your feelings, booing in that context is disrespectful. It was not a WWE match, it was an exclusive panel that many others would have happily attended and didn't get the opportunity despite waiting and dealing with pushing crowds. Pushing and booing at a D23 panel was rude and inappropriate behavior. Regardless, it sounds like it resolved well. Please let's not open another debate on the redhead here, aren't there enough of them already? :)

As for Wreck-It Ralph 2, I don't imagine the wait for the trailer will be too long. There are snippets online already.

Least favorite - Standing in line for 2 hours to get in and then standing in line for 3 hours for Animation and not getting in due to a screwup (rumor is they left the doors open upstairs and people took seats). Good news is we have guaranteed seats for Parks and Resorts tomorrow (other choice was Live Action) as compensation.

So what was your favorite part?

When they said we were going to be guaranteed seats to Parks and Resorts tomorrow. That's my #1 thing to see this weekend. Can't think of anything else positive, very frustrating day, mainly due to their disorganization and overselling tickets. 2 hours to get into a store to shop? Crazy. 20 metal detectors setup in the sun but only 5 in use? i know I'm tired and cranky. Going to bed so thst i can start over again in the morning. Hopefully a better day.

who are you to decide it's rude? I think it's fine as they were booing the change. That seems like a fine place for people to express their dislike for the change.

Ugh! Just got through everything. Moving tomorrow, so I will miss following along and live updates. Very excited for the new movies. If the new "flight movies" happens to be Planes 3, I will have 3 very excited boys. They were just asking for a Planes 3. :drinking1 Cannot wait to catch up tomorrow! Thank you everyone for the discussion and the updates. :cool1:

The one problem I have with the Wreck-It-Ralph release of the princess scene is that they are likely giving away a BIG moment in the movie.

Agree I don't want to open up another debate, but will again argue that there's a difference between booing a person and booing what they say. If Marty Sklar comes out on stage and says at the end of a 10-minute presentation. "I love Adolf Hitler" he's should get booed. Now of course he wouldn't do that, but what he's talking about angers people quite a bit, and they responded. If my boss comes out during a town hall meeting and says "No raises next year", he's likely to get some boos. Maybe not because he's the boss - but you get my point.

Back to the regular scheduled discussion.

In line for live action at 310.

Whoa that seems excessively early! Can you let us know what time people HAVE to get in line? We are going in 2019, and while I really want to see the parks panel, the live action panel runs a close second, and I hear the parks one isn't that hard to get in to. If we have to get in line at 3 AM I don't think we will bother.

It's got to be tough to decide what to do and what are "must dos" - I do think the parks and resorts would be amazing to be in but also probably crazy popular this year. I think if you execute your plan and get to the Live Action panel and meet Auli'i Cravalho and get to the Kiss Goodnight panel with Richard Sherman that would be a pretty darn good day I think

The Dream store is the one that has the expo exclusive merchandise right? Is there anything special at the Disney Store? (I am getting confused between what store is what I think)

That's great you got to Mickey's of Glendale with only 15 min wait. I think of the shopping opportunities that would be my priority - and where I would spend way, way too much money. Did you get anything really cool/special?
