Official 2016 Star Wars Half Marthon - The Dark Side Weekend

It's DURING the west bound Transatlantic cruise! I was so disappointed, I wish Disney departments would talk to each other a little bit more.

To be fair, Disney has about 4 cruises in progress or in transition during every race weekend. Not sure how departments talking to each other is really going to help with that...

So this probably isn't the right forum but I know you are active and reading :-). I can post in the DVC forum too if needed.

We have four adults in a DVC one bedroom at AKL with three different credit cards. In the past, I had to go to the front desk to have my magic band linked to my credit card to make sure the charges split correctly. Does anyone know if this is still true or have they fixed that with all the changes?

Yes, but if you want to do a Bahamas, European, or Alaska cruise as well as the marathon, there are other options. There's ONE WB Transatlantic per year.

Someone just posted this on Facebook...they're getting ready for you guys! :rotfl2:

Have fun everyone!!!

I can't believe I just "liked" a picture of porta-potties. LOL

Happy Race Week!

Here's a trick for keeping hair accessories in... fishing line and a craft (large embroidery, not sharp) needle. They sell the needles at Joann's, Michaels, etc... look in the embroidery isle.

And then "sew" the accessory into your hair (braid a little piece of hair to give it something to hold on to). I have to do this all the time for my daughter's ice skating competitions, since bobby pins are not allowed, and they receive a deduction if any hair stuff falls on the ice (it's a hazard since it can cause falls). Works really well. There has to be a youtube video somehwere, but I haven't looked.
Thank you so much for posting this! I'm dressing as Kylo Ren and planned to use Velcro on a headband to keep my hood up and I think this is a much better solution!

Sadly due to timing and life I had to cancel my dark side trip. Only out the bib as we will use the ticket on our September trip and everything else was booked through refundable methods. With our older dogs dental surgery tomorrow and both my fiance and I being on the very beginning of a sickness we were actually dreading this trip. We have never dreaded a Disney trip but just the stress of the weekend was bubbling up as all our plans slowly fell apart yesterday and today. Our dog sitter was being flaky for the older dog who will be on the last 2 days of pain pills on half the trip and I feel like I have the start of some nasty bug. Sore throat, weakness, stomach cramps, and just general ick. Guess I really am not doing a runDisney event in 2016.
So sorry to hear this. Hope the pup is ok and I hope life settles down for you in a bit!

Last Chance for Group Italian Dinner on Saturday for Solo Runners

So, due to injuries/canceled trips, we have lost a couple solo runners that were going to our small dinner meet-up this Saturday. We are now down to only three remaining. Before I change the reservation from 6 to 3, I thought I would toss out the option one more time to anyone who wants to join us. Here are the details:

Portobello Country Italian Trattoria (Disney Springs)
4:00pm on Saturday
(nice and early, so we can still get lots of sleep before the half)

Here are the survivors:
@opusone
@Z-Knight
@HockeyMomNH

Anyone else want to join us? Either reply here, or you can send me a PM. I will likely reduce the reservation number tomorrow if I don't hear from anyone.

Happy tapering everyone!

yeah, come on everyone...let's meet up for dinner. It will be awesome or at least filling.

I was just coming on to ask this same question about the shirts. I want to wear my shirt Saturday after the race but wasn't sure what shorts to pack. We don't leave until Thursday so I have time. My son leaves with his high school's music department at 3am. Luckily the school is letting us steal him away for the 10k. So excited!!

I'm so sorry that you're dealing with so much right now. :\ Here's hoping that you feel better soon and all goes well with your fur baby's surgery.

For those trying to figure out what to bring to match your shirts - I seriously just packed a pair of blue jeans and a pair of jean capris. Matches everything. :)

Skipped out on running last night in favor of packing our suitcase instead. (Soooo many Star Wars shirts.) Everything is packed now and ready to go, so that will make it so much easier to get to bed on Thursday for a 5:30am flight on Friday AM.

Will do a nice, light run this evening. A little bit of cross-training tomorrow. Then it's off to the races - literally.

I just finished my last shopping trip for the things that I missed. I am completely packed, but my DD16 hasn't started yet. She has school today (SAT's) and tomorrow and we are leaving in the afternoon for the airport.

I'm planning to do three easy miles on the treadmill tonight and then help my DD with the packing.

:thumbsup2 I've done this song and dance before: black running skirt, black shorts, black running capris are all packed and ready for whatever shirts they give me lol!

If I do go, I'll definitely be there in time for the cast photo. :)

I'm going to do a couple more practice runs and then make my final decision on it. I'm just discouraged by all the setbacks and I don't want get pulled from the course by medical. :crutches: Thanks for the encouragement!
If I recall correctly the 5k's aren't timed so you won't get pulled. As mentioned earlier, go...have fun...and walk it! My significant other did the Princess 5k in February walking at about the 17/18 minute per mile pace.

I am so excited that I can't sleep! ACK! I need rest if I am going to have a good race on Sunday. Any experienced runners have suggestions on how to convince yourself to sleep before a race???

Early wakeups and early bedtimes the entire week before.

We have 4 in our group and we will join you if you have not cancelled yet and you think they will allow one extra on the reservation?
