Timing the 5K...

On the one hand, DH is glad they don't. (in the future, though, I think he'll change his mind)

On the other, heck, they time the Mickey Mile, why not the 5K?

Good question. Lot fewer participants in the MM? Has anyone ever asked them why? I never asked because you can't use a 5k for a proof of time.

That is what I was thinking!

It probably would raise the price if they chip timed it. However, I've done non timed races that were nearly as expensive as disney and not as much fun. Color run isn't timed probably because of the amount of people it attracts!

How is everyone's training going? Beautiful weather here in New England right now. I did a 12 mile training run this morning. It was my last long run before my first half in two weeks.
Our beautiful weather disappeared and the heat came back. I think my training will be on hold this week. I looked at the calendar and I have something every single morning. By the time I am done, the weather is in the 80's and 90's. No thank you! If I do run, I will be repeating week six instead of moving on to week seven. I just don't think I'm ready.

I did pick up some running gloves today! Costco had them with the finger tip that can use the smartphones. I think they were $12 or $14.

I'm dialing back a bit before my training plan starts in late October - using Hal Higdon's Novice 2, which is 12 weeks.

In the meantime I'm trying to get myself on a good weekly schedule (trying to be better about regular yoga classes) and am seeing an exercise physiologist to help me start a weight training program this week. Pretty excited about that. :)

I know this has been asked before, and it's possible I thought I knew the answer but now I don't remember...

Does Princess generally have any sort of deals on tickets for the parks? I think "no" has been the answer, but I can't recall.

I'm in Week 3 of my 10K training program for the Wicked 10K in Virginia Beach on Halloween. It's going ok, I managed to shorty myself .5 of a mile on my long run this week, so I have to make up for it, but that's not a big deal. It's still pretty warm here (73F w/humidity this morning), but I'm sure it'll start to cool off by the middle of next week or so.

No that I have seen. The only discounts I've seen available are at DTD during PHM weekend.

Good! I had races the past two weekends so I didn't get as many higher mile training runs in but I'll be back on track this week.

I am with you, it has been great here in NE. I got a speed workout on Saturday and a long run on Sunday. It was meant to be slow, and I was taking it easy, but as my timing had been bad previous weeks, and I kept running in very hot humid conditions, I was excited with less effort I ran much faster for my long run yesterday! The cooler temps really did make a difference. Is the half you are doing Smuttynose? I was going to do that, but took it off my schedule when I added Avengers. It worked out well because it turns out my husband will be away in CA for work, and I would have had no one to watch the kids! Whichever race it is, good luck!

I got in a run today after all. I'm learning stuff about myself during all of this. A) I prefer to run alone! B) I prefer an out and back type trail. C) I don't like running a loop because I feel like I'm on a hamster wheel and the scenery never changes. D) I prefer a trail with fewer people but more runners/serious walkers. Today I was at the park and kept getting stuck behind the ladies chatting and taking up the whole sidewalk or the moms with their double wide strollers taking up the whole sidewalk, or the little dogs that the owner didn't control and nearly tripped me! But at least there was a working bathroom and it looked like only one person had been murdered in there.

Yes, Smuttynose. Have you run it before? I've heard it's a nice flat course so good for a first timer. All my routes here are pretty hilly so I'm looking forward to a nice flat run. :-)

No, I haven't, but I want to. I know lots of people that have, and they love it. I've heard it's very well run. I may do it next year. But I'm also considering the NH Marathon, which is often the same weekend before Columbus Day, like Smuttynose.
