Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

LOL y'all are making me nervous, and I don't even get to register for another two weeks!

If you guys can remember, can you please let us know what the active.com fees are? I think it was around $30 last year, but I always expect prices to go up year to year. Just to get a general idea of how much the races will cost us. Thanks!

So I went back through my phone and found my registration for the Disneyland 5K (most recent rD registration I had). Here's the breakdown:

$75 to register for the 5K
I also bought the 5K pin for $16.15

That brought me to $91.15...then they added $6.43 in Active.com fees, which is 7%.

So best guess (assuming these are race registrations only and you don't add on pins or anything, and that they stick with the 7% fees):

Princess Half: $187.25 with fees
Princess 10K: $117.70 with fees
Glass Slipper Challenge: $326.35 with fees
Princess 5K: $69.55 with fees
rD Kids Dashes: $16.05 with fees
rD Kids Mile: $32.01 with fees

OUCH!! :faint:

Yep! That means less typing for you on registration day. Once you click the link to the race you want it'll prompt you to sign in to that account. :)
So do I login to dvc 1st and pick the race and then login to active.com?

I was told to login to your active.com first, then runDisney race. I'm not a DVC so my order my not be correct. Good Luck, I have to wait two weeks and then try to get into 10K, sign BF up for 5K (his first), then back in for a 5k for me to keep him company.

Tomorrow will be my first time as a DVC members trying to register for the GSC. can I register my sister too? She has different last name, but we have same address. Any idea how I do that? We are both runners and have active.com accounts already. I am about to make myself sick worrying how to do this and get in. Help?!?! Anyone successfully registered more than one person? :guilty: Oh one other question....by the time we race my sister will be at a new address due to a relocation. Will they give her trouble for packet pickup if icsan indeed register her too?

Have your sister do her own registration.

We are hoping to register tomorrow via the DVC early registration, but I'm seeing info elsewhere that I have to register me then log back in via the DVC link to register my sister.

Yes.

Have your sister register herself.

I just created an active.com account. Is that ok?

Yes. Perfect.

So do I login to dvc 1st and pick the race and then login to active.com?

DVC, log in, get the page to the link to register. As you go you will get to the active.com page. Mine magically has saved my active login and password, which is lovely. For Star Wars DVC reg, I just clicked Enter and continued on for my 10K.

For my son, who is a minor, I went back to the DVC page and clicked through and did his 5k entry.

Then I went back, cleared cookies and cache to get out of my active.com account (turns out there's a button saying "this isn't me" that you can use to log out, but in the heat of the moment I didn't notice that) and went back through the links, and created DH's active.com account as I went. This added almost ZERO time compared to if I had already made his account. And I got him signed in and registered for the 5K.

For Star Wars, I was able to log in at 8:59 (I'm pacific coast so my time for starting is 9am for rundisney) and I swear that minute made all the difference. So be *prepared*.

And have other adults do their own registrations.

You cannot do even minors' registrations at the SAME time, you have to go back to the start and do them. I recently registered me and DS for Rock 'n Roll Vancouver, and was able to go through the process for our 10K then my Half, and checked out all at once...but it's NOT like that for rundisney.

Have your CC info in a text box so you can just copy and paste.

In case your CC is finicky about multiple charges in a row, have another CC ready to go as well. My CC can be picky, and since I was doing 10K, 5K, 5K, each of which would be charged separately, I had the info for the second CC also in the text box. Along with knowing expiration date (can't copy/paste that) and the codes from the back of the cards as well. Be 100% ready!

Have your sister do her own registration.

Have your sister register herself.

Great, thanks. I wasn't sure she could register herself since I'm the DVC member, but if she can just use my link to register while I do mine then great.

Anyone know if DVC gets $10 off the race or if Disney Visa will get you $15 off? We are signing up for the GSC and it's pretty pricey so every little savings helps.

Ah, I didn't realize she wasn't also a member. I personally haven't felt comfy using our membership to register those not in our household, so I don't know how it would work.

There are NO discounts anymore.

Silly question time! I'm not registering tomorrow, but you've made me start thinking (and stressing) about registration. When we go to the runDisney site do we need to refresh until we see the link or will it just pop up when they open up registration? Good luck to everyone trying to get in tomorrow!

Boo on the discounts!

Anyone else registered someone else? I thought someone on here said they registered seven people at once before??

I've registered others, but not with early registration as this is my first time as an AP. My runner in Crime is registering herself in the 14th since she's not AP/DVC.

Refresh!

I registered DH and DS, but they are in my DVC household. I stated how I did it, HOW I did it isn't different b/c they are in the household. If DH hadn't been at work I would have had him register himself because it's a PAIN to register more than one person and especially more than one adult.

Starting with Star Wars, the way they are doing registration is different than before. In a way it's better and in a way its worse because you can't register other adults under your active.com account. They WANT adults to register themselves, that's why they are doing this now. :)

"In the queue" is now "ON HOLD." The way it's been working lately is you'll click on the link that is posted on runDisney.com, which will take you to an Active.com page. All of the events will be listed there, and you'll click the radio button for the one you're registering for. If the queue for registration is currently full, the button won't be there - it'll say "ON HOLD" instead. There are instructions on that page to refresh until the button comes back, if it comes back.

I saw that happen during Star Wars registration - the 5K and 10K alternated between "ON HOLD" and the button being there. I'm not sure how you know when you're out of the queue. :confused3

One thing to keep in mind with the DVC/AP registration is that it's a small number of slots that they're allocating for tomorrow - I've heard it's something like 5-10% of the total registration spots. That way there are some left over for the rest of us. ;)

Yes, you can start in the same group. Everyone gets assigned "starting corrals" at the expo (lettered A-P...there's also an elite corral). A starts first, then B, etc. The runner assigned in the higher corral can drop back to the latter corral, but not the other way around (example: if you're in C and your son is in E, you can drop back to E to run with him, but he cannot come up with you to start in corral C). Your corral will be printed on your race bib.

It won't sell out in 5 minutes (and if I'm wrong all of you can come back here and shame me). It'll sell out quickly (again, see above with the whole "limited number of spots" thing), but not in 5 minutes.

HOWEVER - if you want to sign up for the 10K, yes, that'll sell out quickly. The 10K is a popular distance, and a good number of spots are reserved for Glass Slipper Challenge participants.

On registration day, you'll need to log into your Active.com account to sign yourself up. You can also sign up your son (since he's under 18) from your account. The good news for you is that since you're DVC, you get 2 chances to register - tomorrow and then July 14, if you need to. Alternatively, if you decide to sign up for the half instead of the 10K, it should be less pressure - lately with rD races the challenges and 10Ks have been selling out the fastest (30-45 minutes), then the 5Ks, and then the half marathons.

In your case I'd decide between yourself and your son which race you REALLY want to do, and go for that one. Be ready to go tomorrow at noon! :)
EDIT: Missed your last question about the 10K - is it as fun as the half. I haven't run the Princess 10K yet but I did run the WDW 10K in January (which is the same course). You don't run through Magic Kingdom (so no run down Main Street/through the castle) but you do run through Epcot and the Epcot Resort Area. I actually like that course better than the half course (personal preference). So yeah, it's just as fun in my opinion. :)
How hard is it to sign up for the Glass Slipper Challenge? Do you do that all at the same time or do you have to sign up for the 10k and the 1/2 separately? Can my husband and I be logged into our DVC account at the same time so he can register my son while I am registering myself? Thank you for all of the great info!

Challenges tend to sell out first. You have to sign up for the challenge...otherwise you won't get the extra medal. If your son is under 18, you can sign him up after yours. If you are signing him up for the 10k or glass slipper have your husband do it.

Awesome email for the Perfect Princesses...
They are reserving spaces for those that have run every race since the beginning (2009)! We have to register during a certain time frame.
So nice not to have that stress of "getting in" pixiedust:

I received the same email today, which I thought was awesome!! However it is only for the Half-Marathon, and not the GSC, so I guess I will be refreshing my computer tomorrow morning!!

Good Luck to everyone registering tomorrow!!! pixiedust: (I have to wait, no AP or DVC)

Thanks for the Facebook group info Luv2run, I was able to join over the weekend!

This seems like rocket science lol.

So would you guys suggest logging into active.com first, then logging into the DVC member site tomorrow with the same browser and hopefully go from there? Will that save any time (logging into active.com first)? I'm so nervous that I won't get in!
