Official 2016 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread

I feel like I am now on "Bib Number Watch" instead of "Medal Watch". Every time someone posts in here I am getting excited that today could be the day.

I know we have another 10-20 days to go, but maaaaybe it'll appear earlier? :P

TA's have until early Sunday afternoon to sell any remaining bibs and lock in their runner list. I imagine we'll see bib numbers middle of next week and that Disney will continue to push sales through next weekend with the same disclaimer that you'll be in the last corral if you register now - similar to what they did for Princess and Tink.

Just my guess though!

Oooooh, it's getting close now!! So, exactly how different does that half course seem? I'm terrible at that stuff.

ok guys I might not have bib#s but I found the course maps at the USATF website!

Thanks for finding this... It's so awesome we have people doing detective work for these races! Ha ha
We all knew the 10K course would change due to Star Wars Land construction. I've done a rough guess/sketch based on the info in the sketch.
The places where it gets a little confusing is the exact route through Bugs Land and around the Matterhorn (his note about Space Mt. seems a little off)
Overall it looks like it will be a really fun course, and I'm glad the "backstage" area of the park will now not be at the very end (when you used to leave critter country)... I think it will give me more energy running down Main Street with the Castle behind me! Keep in mind this is a VERY rough sketch but I think it is mostly right.

Thanks for the work on the course map @EDS19 - I was trying to wrack my brain figuring out the differences and really it's the Splash Mountain area that got dinged. Really love the 10K course. Areas are so wide to run through that by the time we get to Disneyland it'll be minimal bottlenecking.

That's why this is one of my favorite Disney 10k courses. You have a pretty decent amount of time to spread out, especially just past the Hilton and convention center area. It makes the in park experience much more enjoyable!

So I am set as far as what I will be wearing. Since I am not creative in the sewing department, here is what I am thinking.

While I know I'm not in keeping with the 10K theme, these are probably my last RunDisney races for a while.

And yes, I have naturally curly hair. :)

Mickey Mama,

I have naturally curly hair, too! I'm going to run as Merida for one of the races (My hair is also red but that's not natural ) and Jessie from Toy Story for the other. I'm still gathering the pieces for the Jessie outfit.

Flight prices from the East Coast dropped so I'm thinking of doing this race last minute (unless there's someone sane here that wants to talk me out of it - j/k - I know there's no one sane here! :faint:). I just wish I had some friends going that wanted to share a room! The hotel costs always kill me!o_O

Initial thoughts:
  • Half Marathon is WAY undersold. WAY. And they're still offering it for registration, so I'm guessing most of the bibs in the very last corral are unsold.
  • More corrals, and corral numbers are smaller except for the back three.
  • FAST field compared to last year (or almost any other RD I've done except maybe Marathon Weekend)

Thank you, @Keels , for posting the information for us. I'm shocked that we are so far back - but the corrals seem smaller.

To anyone who doubted the POT submission, even if it wasn't required -- look at my husband and I. We were about 5 minutes apart on our submitted times and 300 away in bib numbers :P
