Official 2016 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread

The courses are in the process of being re-done due to Star Wars Land construction. They'll announce the official courses closer to the race - about a week before. Traditionally the race has finished in Downtown Disney - so it'll be easy for your husband and daughter to find you. Where you'll be running is another question because if you look at last year's course... the entire area behind big thunder is now closed for construction.

I would assume the finishline is staying the same. Take a look at last year for reference.

I'm a little concerned that they're revealing the half marathon for W&D and yet we're not seeing our 10K and 5K medals?


I hope tomorrow isn't the Avengers Half reveal and we get to see the rest of our medals.

I saw this too but there was not availability for any of the new dates but still availability for the 1st and 2nd which has been out a while. Do you think it is possible the dates are posted but not actually open yet? Did you by chance call or just check online?

Oh! I didn't call. I just checked online and assumed I was out of luck. Hope remains! I'd call but seriously, I've had to call Disney like 5 times this month. It's added about $25 to my phone bill in int'l long distance. Not worth it lol

That was my first thought - use the medals to promote sign ups. But it seems weird that W&D would go now and we still haven't seen all of our medals for a race that is 45 days away!

I called this afternoon and was told they are not actually available to book yet because the hours for WOC have not been for those dates. Keep an eye on entertainment hours

Thanks for posting, I checked about 30 minutes prior to this and it still was not open. Got mine booked for Sunday too. Hoping it will be a great way to celebrate the Half and finish off our 1st trip to DL!

Agh so glad u got it too! I think it will be a great way to celebrate! We just celebrated the dark side half in WDW in April the same way with the Star Wars dessert party at DHS and it was a perfect way to end that day!

Now I need to patiently wait for 30 days to book Walk in Walts footsteps.

Their posting of the half marathon medal on Monday got us to scramble to put a trip together yesterday, so they succeeded in roping us in! In trying to evaluate a cheaper option (relatively speaking), I did see that travel partners appear to still have W&D slots open. So they may have pushed that trying to help them out as well.

If they have them ready, don't be too surprised or worried if they do show any of the Avengers medals before the 5k and 10k for DL half weekend. Checking the registration page, it looks like they still haven't sold out anything other than the 5k.

BTW... if there are any lurkers out there, or anyone who passed initially on the Half, GET Travel still has some good hotel prices and ticket discounts available through tomorrow I think. ALSO, we learned that while the POT deadline has passed for Disneyland Half Weekend, NEW REGISTRATIONS providing the POT information at the time of registration should still be placed in the corral corresponding to their time. It's been years since we've seen a race still open through the official channels beyond the POT deadline, so I had to call and clarify that with TrackShack.

ETA: Additional confirmation via runDisney e-mail on the POT still being considered for new registrations as long as it's provided at the time of registration.

Has anyone given any thoughts to their running outfits yet?

I've started to plot some ideas that I can leverage into outfits for other races. Perhaps investing in a Sparkleskirt or two and a few tanks from RawThreads so that I'm themed but not wearing a heavy costume.

Anyone else starting to plot??????

I bought a retired Jasmine-looking Sparkle Skirt for the 10k!! Now I just need to figure out a top. And as for the half, that outfit is set thanks to a super sparkly Sparkle Skirt I bought during their last sale! EEK. Now if only my injury would hurry up and heal I could be more excited about this run and my first Dumbo.

I have a Minnie Polka-Dot Sparkle Athletic skirt...I was going with a simple pair of black capris and a black tee along with a Minnie Ears.

I just hope the heat and humidity combination eases up - it's pretty yucky out here right now.

Has anyone given any thoughts to their running outfits yet?

We only just registered and set everything up yesterday, so we're going to be keeping it pretty simple: plan is for me to re-use a Mickey outfit I ran in for our first marathon and throw together a quick Pluto costume for my wife. Mickey and Pluto on the medal is what pushed us into it, so we're just running with it -- literally!

Mickey outfit: black compression shirt, red gym shorts, yellow shoes if I see a sale, and a black running hat with some ears pushed through the vent holes. My ears came from some Minnie Mouse hair clips for girls; I just cut the ribbons off and attach them to the hat.

Pluto outfit: she has a yellow outfit already from a previous run as Belle, so we'll just add some kind of manageable black tail to the back with option for a yellow running hat with some black felt ears.
