Official 2016 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread

Has anyone given any thoughts to their running outfits yet?

I've started to plot some ideas that I can leverage into outfits for other races. Perhaps investing in a Sparkleskirt or two and a few tanks from RawThreads so that I'm themed but not wearing a heavy costume.

Anyone else starting to plot??????

I was going to be Rumplestiltskin from Once Upon a Time, but it seemed like it might be too hot, so I found a custom t-shirt place, told them an idea and they created a shirt for me to run in that was better than I thought. I'm doing the 10k in this and then I ran the inaugural 5k in 1995 and still have the shirt and I'm wearing that for the Half. Considering running with a black feather also, since I am doing the Double Dare.

@Neon Cactus that shirt is amazing (not to mention TRUE!)! I love OUAT!

I'm on the fence on the Dooney bags, but now that I look at it on my monitor (not my phone), the colors hint at a circus theme, which makes it good for Dumbo. But I agree that it also makes it easy for resale when they don't sell out. I will wait until I see it in person.

So everyone posting about their outfits yesterday inspired me to get my outfit selection completed. I am ready to go, all parts are purchased and will be here within 2 weeks. I wanted to get items that I could wear for Future RunDisney races... so they'll definitely be getting plenty of miles.

10K: "Princess" Hulk. I bought the Rawthreads "Run Angry" green racer back tank, along with some purple running shorts and purple compression sleeves. I bought a Hippie Runner Purple Headband with a pink tiara on it. will be reused for Avengers 10K and Princess 5K race.

Half: Ariel. Purchased Rawthreads "Run like a princess" in purple with some pretty teal lettering, along with a mermaid scale skirt and leg sleeves (will be worn over my compression sleeves). For the hair, i bought a solid color Red Hippie Runner headband to give the impression of Ariel's hair. These will be reused for the Princess 10K. No idea yet for Princess Half - but I've got plenty of time!

While not specifically a costume, it's costume inspired and won't be too heavy or uncomfortable while running. I commend people that are able to wear full costumes and run 13 miles in them (i just can't do it!)

Now that Disneyland has released most of the park hours for race weekend I'm a little surprised to see Disneyland closing at 9 and DCA closing at 8 on Thursday. I know that was the hours last year for Thursday night... But last year they had the after hours party for the 10th Anniversary on Thursday night. I guess getting to bed one night early won't be a bad thing... But I thought they could at least keep the park open until 10.

Agreed, it's disappointing. Only one parade, too. The worst part is 10am opening. I love 8am opening. I can only imagine the horror show of a 10am opening.

Ya 10 a.m. openings are usually trouble because so many more people are awake and there ready to go... The good news though, California area schools are mostly in session that day so that will cut down on a lot of the locale crowds, and we have the Expo opening up at 10 a.m. so I think a number of people will be over there first thing for merchandise and to pick-up their packet. So hopefully it won't be too bad.

OK - anyone up for a get-together?

Last year, we did a Dole Whip meet-up on Thursday afternoon and then I bought a round of drinks at Sonoma Terrace on Sunday afternoon. I'm super happy to host either event again! Anyone down for a race-weekend meetup??

I won't be in town until Friday morning, but would be able to do a meet-up sometime Friday or Saturday evening. I'm going to Disneyland on Friday and California Adventure on Sunday. As always, I have ambitious ride schedules early in the days, but I'm deliberately trying to take it easy later in the day.

Does anyone have any experience taking Uber from John Wayne to Disneyland? It seems cheaper than a taxi and faster than something like Supershuttle. I've never used them before. Do you pull up the app and request a ride when you are ready or can you set one up in advance? I land just before 8:30 AM on Sept 2 and with the park opening at 9, I'm hoping to be in the park at some point between 9 and 9:30 so I want to get transportation quickly. Thanks!

Me!!

I did for Tink and it was SOOOOOOOOOO easy. Call for an Uber on the app when you get to baggage claim and it will tell you to walk out to a certain numbered pole (trust me, it's more like a MASSIVE pillar), and then my Uber was there in less that 5. I think it took about 15 minutes from SNA to Paradise Pier. Greatness.

Make sure to look for a promo code you can usually find one that gives you your first ride free or atleast $20 off.

Me! I won't get into town until late Thursday, so Friday and beyond works best for me. Yay!

I'm down as long as the times work out - I have to still work through Friday.
