Official 2016 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread

Has anyone given any thoughts to their running outfits yet?

I've started to plot some ideas that I can leverage into outfits for other races. Perhaps investing in a Sparkleskirt or two and a few tanks from RawThreads so that I'm themed but not wearing a heavy costume.

Anyone else starting to plot??????
My hubby and I are going to be Buzz and Jessie. I bought an awesome Jessie sparkle skirt, we too will keep it fairly simple for comfort purposes. We fifty something year olds seem to over heat easy lately and want to stay cool and comfy .

Hey, does anyone have any suggestions for off-site hotels closer to the start than Harbor? I'm booked on Harbor but I also just booked a great deal at PPH for the first 5 nights so am thinking of changing for last 3 nights.

We stayed at anabella last year - very close walk I thought and very decent hotel.

I guess it's relative to where along Harbor you're talking... going through GET Travel yesterday we booked a couple of Double Bed rooms at the Best Western Stovall where Katella meets Disneyland Dr for $151/night. Having stayed there in November for Avengers weekend, we walk up Disneyland Dr, cut through the Grand Californian to Downtown Disney and the parks. It's a pleasant walk of around 3/4 mile, 10-15 minutes depending on traffic and such.

Yeah, I usually stay at Tropicana. I know Katella hotels aren't closer, but thought if I did PPH - then moving to Katella after the 5K would be easier? I dunno. :) I'm making it more complicated than I should. But early entry for the non-running days sounds appealing given busy (and hot) summer days.

On the other hand... $ saved is more $ for Dole Whips in the park!

Coming from Kentucky with no kids, and especially coming on fairly last minute plans, we hunt for value with our hotels since we plan only to go to bed and take showers in the morning there. The Best Western worked fantastic for us in the Fall for pricing, cleanliness, and service. The complimentary breakfast was above average in our opinion, and they have a decent fitness center available for non-running workouts while we're there.

But that's the end of my testimonial for them... I don't want too many people agreeing with me and keeping us from getting rooms on future trips! :rotfl:

5K: The six of us are doing Riley and the emotions from "Inside Out" (I'm Disgust - yay!).
10K: The three of us are repurposing our McFarland, USA outfits from Marathon Weekend 10K since we ran in ponchos and rain jackets.
Half: M and I are still undecided ... since we're doing DDD, I'm trying to convince M that we should go as Dumbo and Timothy.

Haha! I feel the same way - I didn't know breakfast was included - that's great. I appreciate the tips. :)

Yeah, I'm thinking about this place - what's the walk like to the start? Also, how's the pool? Any shade?
There are two pools a quiet pool and another which has the bar at it . Both had shaded areas. I had extended my stay by one day and rate was much cheaper because they told me booking directly thru them was cheapest and also in future don't even do it in their web page instead call and say you were told to ask for friends and family rate. They also have many different type of rooms, check the web page to see them. Walk was just crossing the street behind DCA and up the side walk opposite paradise pier. Was easy walk on race day since race was on that side but the Disney race shuttle is also an option and stops there, we opted to walk since it was a short walk and perfect warm up.

That's awesome- thanks. I'm going to try to book either there or Stovall's tonight. :)

I REALLY wish they would have shown us all the medals for the weekend. I want to start working on some custom ears, and while I ordered fabric, I hate flying blind and just going with what my gut tells me.

Oh well. Worst case, I'll have some Disneyland Half logo ones and some Dumbo ones. Grrrrr. Stupid RunDisney.

I have my half outfit ready to go - Dumbo-themed. Sounds identical to you plan: yellow sparkle skirt with red ribbon, red tank with cloud-elephant from RawThreads, Dumbo-inspired ears from an Etsy seller. (The ears were a total impulse buy as I doubt I will wear them for long if at all.)

Don't have a plan for the 10K yet. I do have some leggings that are an old Disneyland map print.

I'm also wish they would show us the 10K and 5K Medals... I was a little surprised they were teasing the Avengers medal today on social media instead of showing us more of the Bling from the Disneyland Half Weekend. Can't believe we are getting SO close to the race weekend!

Thanks for sharing @Ariel484 -- my wallet just breathed a sigh of relief.

Not a fan of the design and can put the money towards the Tinkerbell Pixie Dust Challenge registration fee!

I feel like I am always the opposite of what everyone else thinks lol, I love them! I think I am going to try to get one at the expo. Last time I preordered one I didn't like it and I had to eat the active fees. This is going to one expensive expo for me because it is my first challenge :)

I like the design. I like that it has the Partners statue, castle, Death Wheel and monorail. Good thing I'm not running this year!

EDIT: interesting that it doesn't actually
Have any mention of the races as part
Of the design. I wonder if that's a calculated move on Disney/D&B's part to try to sell more bags. They're still trying to unload last year's race bags at the Florida outlets.
