Official 2016 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread

My guess is that there is limited space in the front corrals compared to Orlando, and maybe this has more runners than the other DL races. Just a guess though...

Agree wit the sentiment, but 1) this is the first year for this, and 2) all the other DL races still say 3:15.

Ok, so I was thinking about the POT for Dumbo, so I decided to check out the RunDisney website. They have updated that section for the DLH:

"If you believe you will finish the Half Marathon in less than 2:45 hours, proof of time is required for start corral placement."

So then, I wanted to see if they updated all of the races to this, so I checked all the other races and they all say 3:15. DLH is the only one that is 2:45.

:crazy2: Why would it be different? That is so bizarre to me!

I'm thinking since it was an error on the registration page (I'm assuming it was an error) in old coding since the sub 2:45 was what they used to. That they decided to keep it in sub 2:45 rather then get everyone on their case when changing it back to 3:15 at open or post registration.

It looks like dlh is the first one that has decreased the pot to 2:45. If it holds true, then i would expect wine and dine and avengers to follow suit. Once it gets closer, i would guess they will change this information. I would figure stars wars and the others will see this new pot when registration opens.

I don't know how the corrals will be effected but i could totally see the back corrals becoming even more crowded. i do however see this as a good sign... Perhaps with rundisney people have gotten off the couch, gotten in better shape, and there are just faster times being submitted to the point that rundisney has decided to decrease the time necessary to submit a pot.

With that being said, i would still submit a pot even if over 2:45. If you look at avengers corrals, the corrals are further broken down beyond 3:15 (which was the minimum time for pot). It looks like some submitted times beyond this and got in one or two corrals before the very last one.

It NEVER hurts to submit a PoT ... even a bad PoT is better than no PoT.

So you guys are saying I'm stressing over nothing. LOL. I'm hoping for an under 3 POT, but I don't think I can hit 2:45 yet.

what we are saying is whatever your time, submit it. The below link is for avengers 2015. I believe they were asking you to submit pot for 3:15 or below for this race. however, look at the corrals. E is for 3:30 and under. F is for equal to 3:30. G is for last corral. this means if you submitted a time for something above 3:15 but up to 3:30, you would not be in the last corral. If you thought i won't submit a time because its above 3:15 but had a time 3:30 or under, you would be stuck in the last corral. Hope that helps

I wouldn't say they are the first to decrease but rather the first to reverse since 2:45 was the old standard up until around 2 years back if I'm remembering right if they do change the PoT for 2:45 for all the halfs again. Then they started tightening up on the PoT submission.

Anyway curious to see what ends up happening with the PoT in the long run. Wine and Dine registration for APs isn't too much further out so we should know soon if it was an error or what.

Has anyone seen the "in training" FB covers from RD for DL yet?
Time to change mine up from PHM.

I'm not currently registered for this race but am watching it closely. My birthday is September 2nd and I wanted to wait until the half fell on my birthday, which might be in two years, but I'm runDisney obsessed so I'm looking now haha. I want that big D medal with the castle on it. Any thoughts on what the medal will be starting this year? Think it will go back to the big D? I'll be kicking myself if it doesn't!

Hey a fellow 9/2 baby!

They might change it up a bit since we're coming out of an anniversary year and they have done that before. But I'm thinking they will most likely go back to the D like before.

Hey! From your signature it looks like you run more in California than Florida. My first runDisney race in California will be the Pixie Dust Challenge in May.

I'm going to be sad if they do change it :sad1: We'll see in May if I like running in California or Florida more :duck:

Isn't the theme this year duos with the half being mickey and pluto. I would figure the medal will be something with mickey and pluto. maybe a "D" will be the background but i would think mickey and pluto would be the focus of the medal.

I would also look for changes in the dumbo double dare medal as they are advertising it as dumbo and timothy. Dumbo has been holding a feather on the previous ones so maybe look for timothy to be on it now. If they don't change it, then maybe put timothy on the ribbon like a previous year.

10k will have aladin and the genie. 5k will have the country bears

Family and some of my doctors are based out of California (pretty much Disney trip has a doctors visit attached somewhere) so its easier to do the California races for me then the FL races.

Also in for Pixie Dust though it maybe my last Tink due to that weekend (school and that weekend do not work) so maybe I'll see you there.

Hadn't thought of that. Medal reveal will definitely be interesting I think this year.

I'm in for the 5k! Staying at the Camelot. Does anyone know if we can get discounted park tickets? And if so how much are they?

Yes, you can get discounted tickets through GetTravel. They sell every ticket from a special twilight one just for runners, to a full 5 day park hopper. It's been quite a good discount in previous years :thumbsup2 Check out their website for pricing. We bought through them last year and just picked up our tickets from the expo - easy as!

You might double check their deals this year. They are not as good as in the past. No twilight tickets are listed.
And park ticket prices just went up overall.

I booked with them for PHM- and paid much more than I should have for POP- although I didn't have to fight to register online. When I looked at their deals for DL- I opted to reg myself and find another option to book hotels and tickets.

One advantage to booking through a TA you have an option to cancel -including your bib- within a few weeks of the race.

Maybe if you call them they will have something better to offer you??

My in training shirts arrived this week!

I'm used to WDW trips and planning everything 6 months out. It feels weird to be around that time frame and not worried about getting dining reservations!
