Official 2016 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread

I'm currently following a My Asics plan for the Hollywood Half. I really like it and it's the first time I've actually stuck to a training plan! I'm not sure what to do about adjusting it for doing a challenge though. I might have to create something on my own.

Anyone here getting ready to sign up for Avengers soon? I can't decide ...

I feel like I'm asking a dumb question - so please don't make fun of me.

I realize that the DDD event has a 2:45 or less proof of time requirement. This means that anyone who feels they can run in 2:45 or less can throw in their POT and be placed in a proper corral. 2:46 or higher is not required to submit a POT and therefore will be placed into corrals.

What I don't understand is what is preventing everyone from putting 2:45 on their POT if you're slow. I submitted a POT for 3:12 today in hopes of being placed into a 3:10 corral, but this doesn't make any sense as a POT is not required. I'm so frustrated and upset that the times changed from 3:15 to 2:45 -- and now the walkers may sneak into a faster corral.

Basically -- how can I ensure I am in the right corral at the right place and do my best? The only way I see around this is to literally fly during the Tink 10K and get a magical 1:18 to 1:20 finish time and submit that.

The Disneyland half still being open for registration is taunting me! I really want to go to Disneyland this summer, and I want to do a Disneyland race, so this would be a perfect opportunity. Especially since I'm now registered for Wine and Dine and could get a Coast to Coast.

Sorry.. I'm not quite sure what you are asking so forgive me if i misinterpreted your question... But if you are asking what is to prevent everyone from submitting a 2:45 time or lower, then the answer is you have to provide a link to the race showing what you say you ran. In other words, you cannot simply say i'm going to run 2:45 and not provide a link to the race result that shows you ran 2:45. Without the link, your pot is not valid and they will put you in the last corral.

If you input a time higher than 2:45, you still need a link to the race showing you ran that time. Otherwise, they will put you in the last corral

But further to this conversation, won't there now be like a ton of people "in the last corral" how will they segment the remaining people? I assume (perhaps incorrectly) that that corral would be HUGE. We're talking 45 mins worth of people, right?

If avengers hold true, they will further break the post 2:45 corrals into more corrals. That is why you should always submit a proof of time, so you do your best to not be in the last corral. avengers had a pot of of 3:15... I think or somewhere around there.

The below link is for avengers 2015. I believe they were asking you to submit pot for 3:15 or below for this race. however, look at the corrals. E is for 3:30 and under. F is for equal to 3:30. G is for last corral. this means if you submitted a time for something above 3:15 but up to 3:30, you would not be in the last corral. If you thought i won't submit a time because its above 3:15 but had a time 3:30 or under, you would be stuck in the last corral. Hope that helps

I am hoping this is the case, @Warm Hugs -- I just had this weird moment of "wait a second...." when I put in my awesome 3:12 POT from this past weekend. I am proud of my accomplishment and want to make sure that I am placed correctly and the new rules won't affect my race time at the DDD. My husband, who has no POT, put in 2:45. :(

I like the idea of more corrals between 2:45 and 3:30! It can get quite congested in those last corrals. I'm still going to try for a speedy PR for Tink 10K, unless I can miraculously take off 30 mins at RNR Nashville in three weeks. :rotfl2:

I hope what @Warm Hugs proves to be true. This will be the first race with a POT at 245 instead of 315. I wonder why the change though if they have to look at the times to slot people into corrals anyway?

In semi-good news, I PR'd at the Hollywood Half this weekend and got my half marathon time to under three hours (2.58.12!)! Yay! That beat my previous time by 13 minutes. I am beyond thrilled, although I think that should still keep me in the same corral as last year with 3.10 POT. Nevertheless, this is a huge accomplishment for me personally.

I was hoping to find a 10k before the POT cutoff to beat the 2:45 requirement, but I think I will happy with this.

If rundisney does what it says it will do, then your husband will be in the last corral because he does not provide a link. They may not check all links but it would be easy for them to spot no links provided.

I'm in for Disneyland half and Coast to Coast!! I was on the edge for awhile but will be going with my brother in law and sisters in law for a quick weekend! I have never been to Disneyland but got a great air deal and probably will have to skip the park. Of course ... that could change once I get there. We're still on the hunt for a hotel since all the on property are sold out so if anyone has a place they absolutely love I'm open to all suggestions :)

Me and DH are signed up for the DDD. I had a question, we currently do not have a POT because we have not ran anything more than a 5K.... so my question is, if we have already registered and selected 3:15 as the POT with no link, can we run a 10K race, lets say... next month; can we still submit the POT from that race or is it too late since we already registered?

Also, how do you get a POT from the race in order to submit?

The runDisney website should have a cutoff date that you have to have your proof of time submitted by. Up until that date you can log into Active and edit your registration to add the proof. To submit it, you have to paste in a link to the online results from your race.

Check out hotels on Southwest Airlines' vacation site. We got a great deal at the Marriott right next to the convention center for DL Half Marathon weekend.

This! I saw on SW that there was a deal for my flight+hotel for Friday night/Sat night for $633. Right across the street.

Hello, Long time reader, first time writer. Very excited, managed to get 2 tickets/bibs for the 5K. Can I ask those who have participated before, do you know the sizing of the t-shirts? Does anyone have an M, L and /or XL they might be able to measure for me? And do we have an option of exchanging at the expo if we have ordered incorrectly? I'm assuming not!

Thanks very much!!
