"Official" 2015 MNSSHP thread

Huge sigh of relief to actually read some good reviews of the party!! We are going next Friday, 10/9 and I know it will be crowded b/c of it being a weekend, but I'm pretty ok with that... I'm mostly going to enjoy the atmosphere of MK during the party. We are arriving midday and decide to do party instead of adding a park ticket so its just a bonus MK day for us

I do have a couple of questions ... I've been reading this thread constantly for weeks now and haven't seen them answered:

- We were unable to get FP for Elsa and Anna - how are the lines for them during the party? Any recommendations for the best time?
- Is there a list somewhere of the special party magic shots and where to find them? If not, can someone list here?
- What are some good spots to try for for the parade, fireworks and shows? Since Frontierland isn't a "secret" anymore, are there some other good places you'd recommend? Is there a good place to camp out to see the parade, fireworks and the show?

Thanks for everyone's posts and info in this thread, I haven't been too a party since 2009 and my friend has never been - the kids are all super excited as well!

We look at our right away - especially now that they're available via the app and it's easy! You only get 30 days to download them all after you activate your MemoryMaker, which you need to do if you don't want your photos obstructed by watermarks. if the watermarks don't bother you, you can wait and then have a full 30 days to download one you get home.

Just an FYI to everyone - we had TERRIBLE luck with our party photos this year. Many photographers were having technical issues - or just weren't there. The lighting is consistently bad in the photos we did get. We couldn't find Magic Shots. We get MemoryMaker for our entire trip, but I wouldn't get it just for the party. We had similar issues the past 2 years at parties as well.

Once I view them I begin that 30 days then? Is that right? I have not purchased it yet or does that matter by when you buy it? We go in a couple of weeks and I was wondering when to buy it based on what you say too. TY so much. Like you, I will have to look

I've just decided to go tonight and Sunday (I have a problem. I know) and the weather looks infinitely better. Hoping to get the rest of the characters in tonight and then doing who knows what on Sunday. My candy stash should be impressive by the time this is all over

Yes - it tells you right on the screen that by activating, you'll be starting your 30 days. I had to do this immediately because the watermarks were driving me crazy! Now that it's integrated in the app, you can download photos as you go, if you want to.

It doesn't matter when you purchase it - your 30 days starts when you activate it.

Wanted to give my review of last nights party (10/1). My mom, my 80-ish year old god mother and I headed from Yacht Club around 3:30 and arrived a few minutes after 4. We found moderate lines for bag check, no line for ticket/band scan and minimal for wristband. We headed straight to the emporium to check on party merch. I got the Hocus Pocus shirt I had wanted plus another party specific shirt. They had plenty in stock it looked like. Then my godmother was tired and she uses a scooter so we parked her by a tree outside Casey's along mainstreet around 4:30. We ate dinner from Casey's then took turns going in pairs to do other things. My mom and I walked to frontierland where I got the annual passholder exclusive pin and a hitch hiking ghost pin. I also bought the party specific pin with my shorts earlier. We saw the poison apple mugs at the stand in frontierland but passed because our cabinets are too full already! Anyway, a few minutes before 7pm I took my godmother by the arm and we headed to adventure land to trick or treat. We hit jungle cruise and tiki room and got about 1/3 of a bag each. She gets tired quick so we headed back to mainstreet after those. We had a great spot for the first parade since we camped out so long and the parade was my #1 priority. After the parade my godmother left to rest at the resort and my mom and I continued to party. We moved down mainstreet near the end of the hub area and watched the end of a hocus pocus show, celebrate the magic, and hallowishes! After those we headed to do more trick or treating. We hit adventure land again then went to the riverboat spot. Next we rode Haunted Mansion and watched the lady on the lawn while in line. We continued trick or treating after this in fantasyland and over to storybook circus and tomorrowland. We rode Buzz lightyear where I was once again a galactic hero. One more trick or treat stop then we headed over by the castle stage and got 2nd row for the midnight hocus pocus show around 11:45. We left after the show totally warn out but we enjoyed every minute. While it was crowded, it was not as bad as I expected after previous reviews. We saw the cast members sweep mainstreet and remove many without wristbands. If you see someone just point them out and a cast member will address the issue. Overall A+! We would definitely go back. And we ended up with about 2.5 bags of candy.

The 30 day clock starts when you DOWNLOAD the first photo. Simply viewing them on the app won't do anything. Also, you need to buy it at least 3 days prior to the first photo being taken in order to save $30.

When it was my turn, the photographer took what seem like a good amount of photos (I heard a lot of shutter clicking sounds). When I checked my photos the day after, I only found 3 photos. That was surprising. I thought he took more. The worst part, there was only one photo of me and all 7 dwarfs. ONE! I could not believe it. 1 photo was of me and all 7 dwarfs (in which my face was almost blocked by Sleepy), 1 photo of me and 4 dwarfs, and 1 was of myself.

Serious, I was so disappointed. I did not stand 2 hours in line to get a picture of myself. When I stood in line for the 7 dwarfs, I want photos of all 7, not just 4 of them!

This seemed to be the norm with other party photos. I took some photos in front of the castle. The photographer zoomed in way too much and the castle is barely visible in the background. It’s nice that they took guest portraits but I was not at all aware that they would take so many close ups.

Yes - you can download them to your phone (there's a button that says "Save or Share" - just tap that to download.)

The photographer zoomed in way too much and the castle is barely visible in the background. It’s nice that they took guest portraits but I was not at all aware that they would take so many close ups.

That is my biggest pet peeve with photographers... you can always crop a photo but you can't un-zoom!

That really sucks..we've had incidents like that too where you waited so long to get pictures and then they barely took any. But almost every trip we have there are missing photos and you just have to write them (there's a form for missing photos) and just give them the about time, date, what your wearing,etc and they normally get back to me in less than a day with my missing photos..so maybe the photographer did take some and there just lost.

That stinks we got some leaving at 10:45ish Thursday night. They gave some to my kids as we exited.
