Official 2015 Disney Marathon Thread

Ok all you runners out there. I am looking for a suggestion for a lightweight rain jacket for running. I need a new one and with living in the beautiful Seattle area, it is a necessity

Especially with how it has been the last couple of days! UGH! Normally I run in rain or sleet or anything... but I am seriously getting tired of coming home drenched.

I have heard that brooks has a great one. Personally I don't have a great one. I just run in running jacket (I think it is champion brand) from target. Stays warm down below 30... and does stay a tad dry (more that it is dry fit so wicks away moisture) Would be curious what you end up with. :goodvibes

I can't believe Goofy is only at 60%,I thought it would have sold out in the first day given its the 10th anniversary.

What is strange is that the Dopey sold out in a matter of hours. One would think the Goofy would follow. It is the same thing but for the 5k and 10k...so you would think for those that missed the Dopey...the Goofy would be the next most obvious choice.
It looks like it will be the last to sell out.

Try to be sure to know the set up of the finish line, and make sure he knows it too. While I'm not a person that needs anyone there for me, and in fact I told hubby and son that I would far prefer they have FUN at the TOT party rather than try to see me. But they weren't having all that much fun and decided to go to the finish line. But I didn't know anything about the finish, and just happened to end up with my shrimpy self sandwiched between two taller runners and we were all over on the side opposite the stands where DH and DS were. They didn't see me, I didn't see them. I didn't even know they were there (though just in case I was looking around).

Once the runner tracking system let them know that I had finished, they kept looking while leaving the area and went to the meetup spot we had agreed upon before.

Like I said, having them see me isn't important to me, and I get really tunnel-visioned anyway....but since it is important to you, make SURE that both of you know the setup at the end, and what side it's better for him to be on.

How do you familiarize yourself with the finish line? Is it the same for all the races? (We are running the 5K earlier in the week. Will that help at all?) I think at this point seeing him cross is important for me, but I have a feeling come that day it will be for him too. Even if it's just knowing that we were there and saw him. Can we make a sign for him? That's what we do at homecomings (where there are a million Marines all dressed the same) so we can find him. I was thinking of making one to have in MK to cheer him on and then at the finish line to help him see us. These are our first Disney races so I have no clue of the lay of the land! :confused3

I was surprised by this too! Some friends of ours didn't sign up for Dopey in time so they signed up for Goofy instead.

I don't run in one (way too hot here in FL - much better to be soaked!), but I do use rain jackets a LOT in general during our monsoon months. I've found some nice deals on Columbia jackets on clearance at Dick's Sporting Goods. I also really like Lands' End's jackets and they may well be on sale this time of year.

I have two that I really like. One is from Craft, the biking company, but it breathes better than most labeled for running. The other is from Asics. It's very lightweight, folds up into itself, and is great for traveling.

Yeah! I am super surprised by this too!

I'm not totally surprised. I feel like for most people, if you're going to do Goofy, you might as well do Dopey. And everyone who just wanted to do Goofy registered the first day because they were scared of it selling out.

I was going to argue with you for a second, but I think I see your point now. Assuming that almost everyone who wanted to do Goofy signed up for Dopey instead, then the Goofy registrations now just include the Dopey overflow and the few people that really only wanted to do Goofy. All of those people probably signed up on the first day.

Yeah.... there's also probably a big gulf between people who are running their first or second marathon (or running the marathon to race) and people who like the multi day challenge.

I was thinking that too...probably just not many people left that are ready to take the Goofy leap. :confused3

Yeah, that makes sense. :)

I just signed up for the marathon due to..

1. I just completed Expedition Everest and am IN LOVE with Run Disney races now. Can't wait for Wine & Dine and Avengers

2. That darn percentage bar has been teasing me, so I bit the bullet.

So excited to run my first full at my favorite place on earth! :cloud9: Can't wait for Wine & Dine and Avengers now!

I am leaning towards the Brooks one. I love Brooks gear. Hoping to head up to the outlet store up in Bothell and see what they have before ordering one online.

I got the Brooks one a few weeks ago and it's great for me

I have no complaints with my Brooks running jacket. Check out running warehouse to see if they have any deals.

Last month I bought a lightweight Marmot shell for rain/cool-but-not-freezing temps and so far I love it. (It only has one pocket, though. I like lots of pockets on all my stuff.)

Yes the store is up in Bothell. Small store but great deals can be found on shoes especially if your size is available.
My husband got a pair of ghost running.shoes for $60 on our last trip.

Cool! I'll have to go check it out!

I never make it up to Bothell.. but I run in brooks off and on (when the model is right for me) All of your talk is making me want to make the drive up there.
