You probably know this, but it doesn't HAVE to be a half marathon to submit for the marathon...anything 10 miles and longer will work. I know 10-milers are harder to find than half marathons but just wanted to throw that out there.
I'd definitely submit SOMETHING...as a PP said it could end up being a pretty long wait otherwise!
I use Honey Stinger gels and love them! They're super easy on my tummy, and taste WAY better (to me anyway) than the GU.![]()
Anything you can do to get out of the last corral would be good. P was the last corral this year, and it was probably 6:30 when it went off.
I was in corral H and went off about 6:00.
Poor Goofy. 10th anniversary, cool new medal, and it's the last one left standing.
Crazy! Truly never saw this coming.
Is November too late to do a half to submit for the marathon. DH is running the full and there aren't a ton of races here in the summer (FL panhandle) and that was the only half I could find prior to the marathon that is local. I think he'll go nuts if he's stuck in the back.
Me neither. Cue the "I only want to run the half. Can my husband/wife run the full with my bib?" questions in 3...2...![]()
Was just wondering that if the temps get cooler for the marathon weekend how much time could one pick up.
This is where running by effort or with a heartrate monitor comes in handy. You will naturally have a slower pace for a given heartrate in the heat. When temperatures cool off, you will be running faster at the same BPM and level of effort. It's a much easier way to approach it than randomly adding or subtracting minutes.
The question is that with training at 12 to 13 minute miles in the South Florida heat would the reverse hold true with gaining time for 10 degree drops in temps?

I know there were a few posters on here that did not submit a proof of time on time and ended up near or at the back. Some of them were fast runners.
I was in the dead last coral in 2013...actually the last to cross the start line in both races....while it was a cool challenge to move forward thru the crowds....it was a long wait and I don't want to be back there again.
Plus, there is no one left to cheer you on! All the other corals have gone!
So submit something for now if you have it....anything....and if you run another race before Oct 10th with a better time than email that....otherwise you could and probably will end up in or near the back.
