Official 2015 Disney Marathon Thread

Good call-that was the problem! My birthday was off by one day...not even sure how I managed to do that (especially since 29 and 30 are two completely different numbers....) Well at least I can find it....is this something I should try to correct? Will it be a problem for packet pick up or anything?
:thumbsup2 You're right, super weird. I bet it happens a decent amount since most people (yours truly included) are just typing as quickly as possible to get signed up on registration day.

I think I would let them know over email, just to be safe.
Welp. Shows what I know! There they are.
:goodvibes

I started a 5 day "cleanse" yesterday to get my body and mind in a healthier state for training. It's not a drastic thing, just all good for you foods. Its from a group on FB and we received a shopping list and menus than can be adjusted accordingly. I like it so far but.....I grew up with my DM working at Nestles chocolate factory in town so that is an everyday thing for me. Going without it has been hard (I know it's only been 2 days). Chocolate is my soda, my coffee, my make-it-through-the-work-day-when-it's-only-3:00, etc. :worship:

Just like running, I need to stay the course and it will all be worth it in the end when I see Mickey at the finish line!

If it makes you feel any better apparently I did it twice. No clue how. I'm blaming the UI. :thumbsup2

I would try to correct it. Send an e-mail to support@active.com, they'll send you in the right direction. I don't have the e-mail for the DW marathon folks yet since I sent e-mail this morning. Good luck! :)

I am staying at the Swan. It is in the Epcot resort area. It is not operated by Disney tho. But its in a fine location in the Epcot resorts area and walk around the lake to the Yacht Club. It is also a better price than the Disney hotels such as Yacht and Beach club. There is also the Dolphin.
I know those two hotels (S/D) offered better rates if you pre paid it...or use AAA.
I have always stayed in the Dolphin but this January I am trying out the Swan.

Now, they don't have buses that transport you from and back to the airport...you have to book your own transport and you can do that thru Meers. Or rent a car (I wouldn't rent)

They do have buses just like every other hotel that takes you to and from the expo all day long and the races....no problems there.

I have been checking rates through Costco (they have promotional rates for Swan & Dolphin) but their rates only go through 1/2/15 right now. I think once room only discounts are released for Disney, the price will be better for us (at least for Wilderness Lodge) Right now Wilderness Lodge is $373 a night and the Swan & Dolphin pre-pay rate is $309.00 per night plus resort fees. We really do not want to pre-pay in case something happens and we have to cancel our trip. Wilderness Lodge typically offers a 30% room only discount for our travel dates. Keeping our fingers crossed when these rates come out! I have already changed my resort once, so I am sure I will change it again before our trip.

Just wondering if anyone knows if you can pay for expo purchases with the Disney gift card? I'm pretty sure the answer is yes, just want to be sure before I buy extra gift cards!

Yes, at Disney and runDisney booths, but not at other merchants' booths, so you'll want cash or credit cards for those.

If they are selling shoes at the expo, how does it work? Hoping they sell my size lol I need wide shoes

Well, first, do they make the disney shoes in Wide to begin with?

And do your feet do well in those specific shoes?

Mine don't, so I don't even look for the disney shoes.

well I know the brand they had last year they sell regular ones in wide. It's the type I wear at home. As for Disney special theme who knows

Are you looking for the NB Disney shoes or just running shoes in general? I'd guess that you'll have more luck finding wide shoes by Asics, Mizuno, Brooks, etc., than you will with the Disney shoes, if only because there are more vendors for regular shoes.

Does everyone's proof of time read "unverified"? I am assuming this is how it will remain until October 10th or so?

I would think so. People will update their times a couple of times before the cut off date, and I doubt RunDisney wants to waste their time verifying times now.

That's my theory too. It makes me a little nervous but it is what it is.

Just to add what PP have been saying about the giftcards (that yes, you can use them for runDisney merch)...in past years the runDisney merch areas have also honored AP and Disney Visa discounts, similar to how other stores around Disney work. :) I'm not sure if they have something similar for DVC.

Not to be a downer, but...

I think I'm done with the runDisney shoes. They are soooooo cute but they really do not work for my feet. I run in (and love) Brooks Adrenalines, but I did grab a pair of the Minnie shoes at the 2013 Wine & Dine expo...they (shockingly) were just sitting right there and I'd had a rough travel day. It was definitely an impulse purchase.

I never planned to run in them because I know they aren't the right running shoe for me, but I thought I could just wear them around casually...NOPE. Just short trips to the grocery store left my feet in PAIN. Walking the dog around the block wearing these shoes was agony. At one point I thought I actually had slightly injured myself just walking in them.

They've been sitting in my closet unworn for quite awhile now and I'm throwing them up on eBay this weekend...hoping to get SOMETHING for them. :(

So to anyone thinking about getting these shoes, REALLY think about it first. If possible, I'd recommend trying them on at your local running store (obviously they won't have the Disney designs on them, but the model is the same). I totally regret buying my pair.

I think it might even have said something about the fact that they won't do any verifications before October 10. I did submit my current proof of time, but we have another half planned on October 5 that I'm hoping will be an improvement, so, yeah, checking the one I have in right now could well be a waste of their time.

:( What a bummer. I hope you can get some decent money for them on eBay.

I read somewhere (I have no recollection of the source, sorry) that you can only submit one update to your proof of time. Can anyone confirm or refute this? Thanks!

Just registered for the 2015 Tinkerbell Pixie Dust Challenge + Coast 2 Coast.

That's 6 Races = 10 Medals + 1 T-Shirt + 8 Tech Tees. I'll take it. :thumbsup2

Edit: 6 Races = Dopey Challenge + Pixie Dust Challenge

My wife and I did our first C2C in 2013. The Princess 1/2 and then the DL 1/2. February and then September. Spaced nice and far apart to allow for more training and recovery in between.

The C2C medal doesn't change much year to year. Just the ribbon which is some variety of blue. If you do the Tinkerbell and the Princess the C2C ribbon is pink.

Also the WDW medals are relatively similar year to year. The awesome medals are on 5 year anniversary years. Like we did the 5th anniversary Princess so it was extra sparkly and had "jewels" inlaid in the medal which is a princess crown of course.

We like to say that we race for the health benefits and the seeing the Disney Parks from a different perspective. Really we just do it for the Bling. :cool2:
