If you are going to talk smack, then you had better be able to back it up. Which is why it is NEVER a good idea to talk smack...because sometimes things happen...mistakes...or some other guy is just better than you are. Then you look really foolish for running your mouth.
Now enough about those shenanigans...Kotsenberg was so much fun to watch. What a stellar job!
I would say actually competing, and making it to the final is backing up your mouth.
The wrist is an excuse, the bronze medalist competed with broken ribs. Do I think it was in poor taste to talk junk about White publicly? yes. Do I feel that just because he didn't make the podium he somehow failed, and didn't back up his talk? no, because he actually competed, and made it to the final. If White wasn't going to compete he shouldn't have taken the spot in the first place, I'm sure there was another American boarder who would have loved the opportunity.
