Official 2014 Disneyland Dumbo Double Dare, Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k Thread!

We are a WDW family and will be flying in to DL for the first time for this race. We've already used the my magic + system/app twice for previous wdw run disney events. I'm having trouble trying to set up our reservation/bands for this trip. Does DL not have this set up in their parks as well?

Nope! DL uses the old "insert your park ticket get a paper fastpass" system.

No bands yet here....in fact, there is no official app for DL anymore either.

i went to make dining reservations for friday at espn, only to find there was nothing after 5:30! how can that book up so fast?

Are there any character stops outside the parks for the DL Half? I know there are the classic cars, bands, cheerleaders and whatnot, but I haven't seen mention of Disney character stops along the course except for on actual Disney property. This will be our first Disneyland race so we're used to the WDW races where you never actually leave the resort. I'm a slowpoke, so I'm just trying to plan ahead!

Last year's race only had characters inside the park since outside the parks is considered the city of anaheim so that is where there will be what I call "non -disney" entertainment . The good thing is there is a lot of support from the people of anaheim as I laughed at some of their really creative signs. My fav sign was "disney race 175.00....only 75.00 more to go to finish!"

Are you sure they have reservations for dinner? I recently learned that Rainforest doesn't do reservations for dinner (can't remember if that's WDW, DLR, or both), so it's possible ESPN is the same.

it comes up with one at 5:30, and i thought for my last trip i saw it come up, but it has nothing for the rest of the weekend. it's odd. i know we should have no problem going up to the bar, anyhow, so it's alright, just found it odd!

I just made a reservation for PCH Grill on Friday the 29th at 6pm and Big Thunder Ranch BBQ at 5pm on Saturday the 30th. I wasn't able to make a reservation for Blue Bayaou on the 31st. I guess I have to wait until tomorrow.

It's funny because I received email confirmation with the correct info but it shows up on MDE App as random times. I didn't know WDW & DL interacted.

I just made a reservation for the Minnie & Friends breakfast at 10:30am on the 31st. The last seating is 11am and I could have made one for that time, but I thought there might be fewer character interactions that late and less fresh food to choose from.

10:30 should be more than enough time, right? I will be in one of the first few corrals (probably - when do we expect those to be released anyway?) and should finish in ~2 hours. Walk back to Hojo, shower, change, family should be ready to go, then we walk back to DL. I have done WDW races and been back in the parks before noon and that requires much more transportation logistics. Am I forgetting something that might get in the way?

i did DL and WDW in the same week in february, and when going through all the dining reservations i noticed it had the DL reservations all on eastern time in the app, and on the website. gave me a panic for a bit until i realized what was going on!

is big thunder ranch good? DH loves blue bayou (i can't wait to take him to the mexico pavilion someday), but we've been there before and my picky palate means there's only one thing i want to eat, and i wasn't too impressed! i was making our reservations for monday night just now and was considering BTR instead.

can't decide at all where i want to eat post-race!

Thats a great one! My favorite from the marathon last Jan. was "You run better than the government!"

On a separate note, I saw that there is a Dumbo bib, do we get that bib to run in? Or do we still run in the 10k and half bibs?

Might regret this, but just booked a later Surf's Up breakfast after the Half. Figure I'll finish, slowly meet up with hubby and son, they'll have my stuff, head over to PPH and use their bathrooms to clean up, then have some breakfast. Hope my stomach will accept the food! (hoping they still make huevos rancheros to order)

Race starts at 5:30 right? Seems like you wouldn't have any problems with 10:30. Post race you just have to get through the people and pick up your bag if you did bag drop. Can't think of anything else unless you want to hang around and take pictures or meet anyone.

We did not do the dumbo double dare last year but I do think you get the dumbo bib to do both races.

Hey I registered for DDD through HsuBu and I haven't received any communications from Disney. I feel like they're normally sending out stuff from maraton foot, and stuff like that by now. Has anybody received any thing yet? I mean i didn't even get a reminder about the proof of time deadline.

Getting ahold of HsuBu is like finding an escaped inmate so forget getting an answer from them...Has anyone else received communications?

I booked direct too, and haven't received a single word of communication. I assumed that was normal

Same here. I did notice that the end of the RunDisney email said the following:

"Stay tuned for our next email. We'll give you your final race instructions and waiver information that you'll need to download and bring with you on race day."

Not sure when that "next email" is supposed to arrive. I believe the first one had to be rescued from my spam folder.

that email comes about a month before the race.
