**** Official 2014 AUGUST - Disneyland thread ****

Good question...because I have the same one too! We will be there the last week of August and we were wondering the same thing. I guess we will know for sure come July when the park times are released.:confused3

I want to say yes they do them every night. We have gone the last week of August the last few years, right up to Memorial Day weekend and there has been Fireworks and WOC (2 shows) everynight.

That would be awesome! I'd better make sure I contact the hotel and ask for a Disney facing room on the top floor :thumbsup2

If you could spend ONE FULL DAY with ANY DISNEY CHARACTER, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY? :charac4::darth::yoda:pluto:::MickeyMo

Oh, gosh. I have to admit that it's the churros. I haven't really graduated from that, but I'm hoping to change it up on this next visit to August! (Any suggestions?)

There were several suggestions around page 10 or shortly after but the few that I have added to my list to try are Mint Julep, Matterhorn macaroon, English toffee and the big pickle. I must add churros to the list too though :goodvibes
oh and my must have snack that you should try is the dole whip floats. MMmmmmmm!!!!

I would have to say Peter Pan! When we saw him in 2012 he was just so natural in his interactions with the kids.

I somehow missed answering last week's question. Oops! I think my most magical Disney Moment was when Captain Hook kissed my hand and thenspun me around and started walking off with me. My kids started shouting "give us back our mommy!"

Yes, Peter Pan is very cool!!! That's a GREAT magic moment story!!! LOVE IT!!

I would choose Belle, because she's so nice and I could learn heaps :thumbsup2

haha, yes, she would have to be VERY smart with all those books she reads yes??? :goodvibes

How about Rapunzel for some really GREAT hair tips!!! ::yes::

Just bumping this to say:

77 days until we leave for Seattle then Anaheim
and
31 days until we leave for Toronto and Ottawa!

:cool1:

Whew, just read over the entire thread. Lots of good stuff in here. Add me in for August - Aug. 28 to Sept. 1. Doing the Dumbo Double Dare. Oh and it's my first trip to DL! Very excited! Traveling solo and staying at the Residence Inn Maingate. Been doing some restaurant research and thinking about doing Carthay Circle or Wine Country Trattoria for WOC lunch/dinner. Is it worth it to do this for WOC tickets? Hoping to hit Trader Sam's one night and have some other things on the radar.

If anyone is interested in meeting up for dinner/drinks/rides/etc just give me a shout. Touring the parks by myself is fun but it's also good to have some company sometimes.

Mary Poppins. Maybe she could teach me a thing or two about keeping my savages under control. ;)

YAAAYYYYY!!!! I just checked my countdown and I'm at 68 days til we head to Cali and 80 days to Disney :cool1::cool1:

I know he's technically not a Disney character, but I'd go with Indiana Jones. >:3

Cool choice! Now wouldn't he have LOTS of stories to tell!!!!

Thanks for joining!! THat's a LOT of reading! lol. I will add you to the list right away. I love bumping into other DISers but I will be gone 2 days before you arrive :( How is the race training coming along?

No kidding hey???? lol

Yay got the plane tickets over the weekend. Our trip to CA is officially set for 8/09-8/16 hitting Disney from 8/12-8/15. :cheer2:

It's funny because I thought that Disney would interest my parents the least but my dad said that it was because of Disney that he agreed on the trip. It was one of the places he wanted to go as a kid but never had the money. My mom's still on the fence about the parks but that might partially be because we just went to Six Flags where she rode 2 things. I will just keep telling her will be a lot more things to do for her at DL.

You're almost under the 60 day mark - very exciting.

Wait I have to train for these races. :) I'm always training for something so it's going well I guess. These will be no pressure races - just enjoy the scenery and hit some photo ops. Thanks for asking and for keeping up the thread.

So I know there was talk earlier in this thread about refurbs, particularly the Matterhorn. Saw a post on the DIS today that it would be closed in August. Kind of differs depending on which site you check. One site more reliable then the others? Really hoping it won't be closed.

Just booked our dinner at Goofy's Kitchen for August 2nd! Yay!! Our trip is getting so close! :goodvibes

Anyone else thinking about reservations? I can make mine next Friday, but we are on vacation. I set myself an alert on my phone to help me remember. Thankfully, it's not as big of a deal as WDW reservations (which I have to make in July for our January trip, and that's so stressful!).

My DD4 is doing BBB our first day (August 12). I'm going to try for a first thing in the morning appointment.

I'm booking the Discover the Magic Tour for a surprise for DD4's 5th birthday (August 16). Then lunch at Storyteller's. She loved lunch there last December, so I decided that would be a good choice.

We are going to PCH Grill Surf's Up breakfast on our departure day (August 17).

We are spending the weekend in Santa Barbara, so we are driving down from there on Monday (August 11). I'm trying to decide on dinner. I'm leaning towards Catal, but I can't help but consider Goofy's Kitchen. We went to breakfast there 4 years ago and didn't like it at all. I'm considering giving it a second shot for the kids. DD4 loves all characters, and DD2 only really likes some of the furry characters and all the face characters. Goofy's has a mix, so that could appeal to them both. I would really, really love to meet Mulan, and that is the only place I have ever heard of her showing up at DLR. Thoughts?

Only in a very vague sense. This is going to be our third trip in 11 months so we are not going to go crazy with the reservations but I know we are going to go to Steakhouse 55. DH and I went there when we were on our honeymoon 15 years ago so he really wants to go back this trip! I think we are going to skip doing a character meal this time, we've done all of them except Ariel including doing Minnie and friends 3 times and I think DS is done with them now. In the past we have done one nice sit down dinner and one character breakfast but I am leaning towards two dinners instead. If we do this then we'll go back to Carthay since we really enjoyed it last time. I can't believe it is getting close to when we can make reservations! I just booked our hotel and parking for when we are in Seattle and I think that was the last arrangement I needed to make other than dining reservations! Yay!

Anyone else thinking about reservations?

We're going for a 9am-ish breakfast at LaBrea after the 5k (29th), and an 11:30am 'brunch' at BB after the 10k (30th).

I'm going to book a Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour on my birthday (but that's not until the September part of our trip), and I also really want to do a breakfast at Storyteller's, but can't decide when.

As someone who does not like rollercoasters, which is essentially what Six Flags is--thrill rides--I can understand how your mom feels. I'd probably only go on two or three things myself there, too. Disneyland/DCA is so different. It's very themed, and I can easily go on 15+ rides between each park because they are not so geared toward a certain type of park goer. Disneyland offers something for everyone. And even if you don't go on too many rides, there's also the spectacular shows, food, shopping, various acapella and singing groups, character meet and greets and so much more of you're not into rides.
