Official 2013 Tower of Terror 10 Miler

Does anyone know if there will be Photopass photographers at the Villains Bash post-race? I know the photographers along the course will not be Photopass, but wondered about during the party in DHS.

And will they have the ride photos going for Photopass Plus (we have already done the pre-purchase for this)? DH really wants the pick of them riding Tower of Terror with their medals on after the race!

YES! :thumbsup2 Last year we got several ride photos from TOT and RNR. We even met Captain Hook with a photographer and no line. I've never seen there be no line for a character before. He was just hanging out, like 'here I am' pirate:
I think my TOT photos with a bunch of people and their medals is awesome. Just be sure to hold on to your medal when you drop!

Excellent! Thank you so much!

I think I just found my reason for trying the tower of terror race next year (or 2015)! How awesome!

We wore our medals for probably 2 days after the race. We got some nice photopass pictures in front of the sorcerer's hat in DHS with the medals.

I really encourage everyone to wear the medals over the next few days. We got lots of congrats from CMs and other runners were able to spot us so we got to discuss race experiences with other runners.

Good to know!

I probably should stop wearing it by the time we hit Universal, though. :) (considering that'll be the 9th, yeah, it'll probably be time)

:rotfl2: Exactly! I'm considering wrapping myself in bubble wrap at this point...

It's crossed my mind, literally like that! Yesterday I was back to the treadmill for the Galloway lower mile training, and I must have stalled for 45 minutes just chatting with people at the Y, because I simply did not want to take a chance at injuring myself.

So the photos were on AND were part of normal photopass, right?

Another question!

Since I did a 10K the other weekend and it's a certified course, I want to bring the info to get my corral changed at the expo. What do I need? I just printed out the course map with the info on it that it's USATF certified, and it has what I assume is a certification number on it, and then I have the info about me and my time printed out. Is that it?

Print the page from the net with your results. Some site allow you to print just your results and they usually have the name of the race, location, date, and your data. Others only allow you to print the table of results. You may need to bring the front page with all the description and the one page with your results.

Other than that you are good. No need for the map, cert number or any of that.

As a matter of curiosity, what was your result and what corral are you in? I can give you a read on whether it is worth the effort.

I'm currently in J so it's worth the effort. :)

Seriously though, maybe it isn't. 1:12:42 was my time.

I would suggest telling the folks at the desk that you think you can run a sub 2 hour or a 1:59 based on the result... but be prepared since their calculator will more than likely give them a 2:01 race. That 2 minute window is a two corral swing.

<2 = E; 2 even = F and 2:01 = G

Thanks for the info! That's quite a swing. Don't tell them but even just getting to H would make me happy. :)

DH and DS are currently slated to be in corral H, but they just finished a 10K in 56:07. I'm assuming it will be worth it to take in their results and try to move up?

Coach-- you seem to know about corrals so advice please, if you don't mind. My friend and I both put down the exact same proof of time for the 10k. 1:08:20 (since we run a lot of the races together). I put down my anticipated finish of 1:49:49 (I used some calculator--forget which one). She, for some reason, put down 1:55:00. I'm in Corral D and she's in E! Gah! Do you think if we bring that we both have the same proof of time for the same race, they'll move her to D?

I just did a 5K in 28:54 and I'm in corral G for the ToT 10 miler, that time can probably get me in a higher corral,if it can what do I do to get there and what corral will it probably land me in?

You could slide back one corral to be together. I am not sure how the volunteer would feel if you presented both times at the expo (it could come across as an in your face thing at the expo). It may be worth using her proof alone and trying to slide her up one knowing that you have the other option in case they do not move her.

A 5k result will not move you. Only race results from a 10K or longer will be accepted as a proof. Sorry

::yes:: Yep - the medals are HEAVY and they fly up on TOT... ouch!

Worth it, for sure... I submitted a 1:16:23 10K and was put in G.

Yep. I had a lot of photopass taken last year at the after party. Got a lot of good ones with Gaston, Vader and Jafar.

I also wanted to give a bit of info about characters on the trial for people who have not run this race before.

Last year they all tended to show up at mile markers, though this was not always true.

I remember:

a parade float from the AK parade was sitting outside the AK entrance (one of the artistic animal type floats that people pedal)

all 3 hyenas were standing under a rock type thing and Scar was lying on top

grave diggers from the MNSSHP parade

there was a pirate ship type thing on the start of the wooded trail

There were a couple more but I can't remember them right now. I remember at the time I was a little disappointed that there were not more characters out. Hopefully this time there will be more/different characters on the race route.

Probably mentioned before but runner tracking is up on the rundisney website. I've found it easier to do here than at the expo.

To clarify the photo options:
1. We had purchased PP+ to get the ride photos included for our entire vacation. Totally worth the extra cost for me and my family.
2. The characters at the after party would work for both PP and PP+ ( just like any other character)
3. The race photos are totally separate. I did not buy any of these. I never knew I looked so hideous running. I did not want to see any of them again. Ever. At least I don't have to worry that runDisney will use me in any marketing photos.

I hope this helps with expectations.
