I haven't thought about ADRs at all yet, other than making one for V&A on Sunday after the race. I need to get on that.

I saw that on the V&A thread! So awesome! We love it there and got to do the main dining room when we were there last month.

:scratchin now I wonder if it isn't too late rather than too early. I had not considered what time I want to be to bed. (will I be able to sleep?) I was just worried about eating close enough, but not too far from race time (even though, yes I will eat a light breakfast in the am)

I think our ADR is at 5:30 the night before at The Wave. I think I was able to get some restless sleep that night before my first race, but it was important to just be in bed early for me...whether or not I was sleeping, I wanted to at least be off of my feet and trying to relax by 8pm. I also make sure to eat in the AM too...I have a bagel and pb first thing when I get up, so while I'm getting ready and doing some stretching, nature has the time she needs, kwim? :rolleyes1 Then, since there's still so much time spent hanging around the corrals and staging area, I bring a banana to eat over there. That seems to be what works best for me!

Jealous! The BF and I have decided that sometime in the next couple of years we HAVE to up our Disney savings contributions for one of our trips and go all out for a chef's table at V&A....it's at the top of our bucket list!!!

I had a nice, restful day of quiet, and I'm starting to feel better.
Yay - very glad to hear this! :thumbsup2

Hey, quick question... what time are you all planning dinner the night before the race? Is 6:30 too early?
We're making dinner in our DVC villa so that we can each have exactly what we know works for us. I plan to be in bed at 7, so dinner will probably be around 5:30-6. I'm also planning to be up ridiculously early on Sat., so I'll definitely be ready for sleep early, too.

I'm still not cleared to run, but I did a mile on the treadmill yesterday and there was no heel pain or bunion pain!
Awesome, you're on your way! :woohoo:

I'm completely entertained by the talk of cold weather running here and on FB! Seriously - I can't fathom running in temps below 30, though I certainly did growing up in WNY. I've been in FL 20 years, though; the blood thins. My poor toes took almost a mile to warm to the point I could actually feel them last night... it was 72*. Admittedly, I have Raynaud's disease, which causes extreme cold in extremities even when temps aren't particularly cold. I have a pair of fake Uggs that I never wear and were dirt-cheap... think I'll wear them pre-race until the last possible minute to keep my feet warm and then ditch 'em.

We did chef's table on our disneymoon! It was so cool!! Once in a lifetime, amazing. This was early June 2009 and we got to ride in the front car of the monorail afterwards heading home to the Poly! You definitely gotta do it one day :-)

The chef's table scares me. LOL Just eating in the main dining room was too much food. I only took one bite of dessert, and I didn't get hungry again until dinner the next day.

I'll be adding a cheap pair of fuggs or warm slippers to add to my shopping list. I'm not too worried about the running part, but I am worried about standing around in the cold pre-race.

^^ This, exactly! I was surprised by how cold I got waiting for the W&D 5K to start and how much colder I became - and quickly - immediately after finishing. And I was at WDW the morning of the infamous 2010 WDW Half - when we had actual SLEET! It looked like total carnage as we made our way to the MK and saw so many finishers shivering uncontrollably and looking half-dead. That morning scarred me for life, lol! I've been hoarding throw-away garments since Feb., when I decided to do the 2013 Princess. ;)

Around 5:00 for us. I usually don't have a big dinner anyway but my BIG concern is getting my body on East Coast time. The week before we fly out we are going to start living on East Coast time so it will not be such a shock to our bodies once we do get to WDW.

I was hoping that people did the toss away clothes at the starting line. I'm in Canada and all our fall/winter races we do that but wasn't sure it would be acceptable to toss an ugly hoody to the side of the road in Florida. :rotfl:

Do they collect the clothes for charity down there like they do here?

I did Goofy in 2010! 2 mornings waiting hours in the sub-freezing temps are seared into my brain!

I am planning on skipping the throw away clothes since I am doing the race retreat. I wonder if I should bring an old hoodie anyway.......

And yes, I think the discarded clothes are donated. For the Wine and Dine I also brought an old towel to sit on while waiting in the corral.

My sister did that goofy. Insanity!!!!

Yes- clothes go to charity!

If I've submitted an updated time for the race via email...should I get a confirmation? I sent the times in but have not heard back.

Yes, but people are reporting its taking a little while to hear back. But you should get an email eventually!

::worship:: You are AMAZING! I truly can't imagine running in those conditions... and I live in fear of a repeat this year! Which is why...

... I signed up for RR, too. But I know I won't be in a front corral, so I'm still bringing a bunch of stuff as throw-aways. I'm the total opposite of most runners: I'd rather err on being too warm and dumping a layer than being cold!

Absolutely they do! Quite a few of us even did the throw-away thing at the W&D 5K. I figure my stuff would've found its way to Goodwill anyway, so may as well get one more use out of it and let Disney handle the giving!

My running coach says last big meal should be 12 hours before the race if it's a morning race. Of course, still eat your regular pre morning run breakfast.

Yikes! Now I"m a little worried too. We have an ADR for Via Napoli at 7 pm and I'm thinking that might be a little late. Hmmm...

Ugh, I can't decide where to stay. I mean, I really want to stay at one of the Epcot resorts, but they're nearly twice as much as CSR. What to do... Saving money is good, but if we're only there for a few nights being walking distance to 2 out of 4 parks would be handy.

For the Wine and Dine I also brought an old towel to sit on while waiting in the corral.

Great idea about the towel. :) I'm also doing the race retreat but I still like to get to the corrals early to "sit". Sitting on a nice soft old beach towel will be more comfy & cozy than the cold, hard ground.
