Just curious-will they have Marathon Weekend the 10th-13th, or will it be the week before? This year it is earlier, the 5th I believe. We are trying to plan our trip as we are doing a cruise after the race. Either way is good for me, but I already booked the cruise based on the 10th -13th dates, just need to know sooner rather than later so that I can switch if necessary and still get a good cabin!

I am going to be running the goofy in 2013 - I am so excited.....as it is our first time to WDW!!!! I have only run halfs so far. Can anyone share a good training plan for the goofy? Did I say I was excited??????

Hello everyone! I registered just so I could post in this thread. I don't know yet if I'll be up to doing the Goofy in 2013 but that's my ultimate goal. This is the plan:

* Expedition Everest Challenge, May 2012
* Wine & Dine Half Marathon, Sep 2012
* Disney World Marathon, Jan 2013

I just started running at the beginning of this year and I've fallen in love with it. I can run 5ks now and I'm working on my times. The idea of going to Disney events really keeps me motivated. I'm so excited!

No clue there, I hope someone can help you out!

AWesome! I miss running SO much. I'm 28 weeks pregnant (as of tomorrow) and I've still been walking 3-4 miles 2-3 times a week.. but it is not the same...

Hey fellow Ottawan! I don't think you'll find a plan designed for something like the Goofy. Just find a good marathon training plan and get in lots of miles to build your endurance. I also think you have to pick one of the races to focus your good effort on and just run the other one easy without worrying about time. Or maybe you just want to run both of them easy, thats cool too. If you try to run both for personal bests you might just wear yourself out way too much and have a miserable time of it. Enjoy your training and good luck!

There are plenty of training programs around for Goofy. I know Jenny Hadfield & John Bingham have plans available, and I'm pretty sure Hal Higdon does too.

As an aside, from my experience, I'm not sure you need a Goofy-specific plan. I've run mine just by using my regular marathon training program. Some people will swear by doing back-to-back long runs in preparation for Goofy, but I haven't found that necessary. YMMV. :)

Thanks for the replies. I will try to look for a goofy training plan, but if not, I am sure a good marathon training plan will work. I won't be running for any personal bests....I just want to finish it! Can't wait!

I'm jumping on. I want to do my first full marathon at Disney and get the Mickey medal. What a bonus that it will be the 20th anniversary and if historical dates are correct - the day before I turn 36 :teeth:

My first half was at Disney for the Wine & Dine last year and since then I have completed 2 other halfs with 2 more on tap in the coming months and am seriously considering Donald and Chip & Dale for 2012.

Right now after a while of non running (laziness - I'll be honest  ) I am up to about 5.5 miles in about an hour. Hoping it will only get better from here

I have decided to jump on the bandwagon and run the Full in 2013. Can't pass up the 20th Anniversary specialness! And I am going to run the DL Half in 2012 to get my Coast-to-Coast Medal.

I see several Half marathons in my 2012 future. :goodvibes

Jumping in for the Jan 2013 run as well!

Just told a cousin I'd commit to it if she would!

My Plan is the Half, I don't really plan on running any Fulls, but I do want to walk a full marathon in the next few years.
Granted, given life & the fact that I'm a w-o-m-a-n, I've the right to change my mind!

The expected timing is relatively great for me, January 10-13 (Th - Su), and the weather being closer to what I'm used to will make the run that much easier!

I'm training and running the 2013 Marathon. I am so excited I ran the 2008's half marathon and my dad is a big runner and has been running for years. He is currently a GOOFY runner.. LOVE IT.. I am running for Train4Autism. I can't wait to be a part of this again.. The experience is AMAZING life changing..:yay:

You will know details the Monday after 2012's marathon.. It fills up bout mid summer. So you have a little time but 2013 is an anniversary Marathon 20 yrs so it may fill up quicker.

Actaully, the marathon has not filled before late fall over the last couple years. Still you are 100% correct, the 20th may increase the excitement.

Expect the entry to open in March again in 2012.

My baby is now 11 weeks old so I'm going to start (slowly) running again.

I would love to do a half marathon this spring, just so I can see what I'm in for! :scared1:

My wife wants to come back do the half. We are coming back to do it. Well, I am going to do the 5k with son, half with wife, and full by myself, so I will do the goofy and 5j.

I have flip flopped with which race to do in 2013 but today I have finally decided I am doing Goofy! I've done it once and want to really rock it out.
