Official 2012 Wine and Dine ½ Marathon Thread

Isn't that place awesome?! I love the selection there. :)

I loved going there when I used to live in Louisville. We have Academy Sports here...except it isn't even half the size. The closest Dick's was about 2 hours away so I was THRILLED when they finally opened here. Even more excited that I got a coupon. :)

You don't need anything ID-wise for the kids. The waiver needs a parent signature.

Thanks!

Packed and my travel clothes are laid out. Now I just need to occupy my time 'till Friday morning! LOL. 2 or 3 easy workouts before heading down.

Oh dear...I've still got 5 loads of laundry to do and will be packing for 3... I guess I better get off my iPad and get to work!

Question about the expo/packet pick up--for Coast to Coast wristbands, do we have to go to another table to pick those up or do they come with our number? I can't wait to hear the clanking of my two medals as I take my slow moving journey through time or fly back over Disneyland! I'm debating bringing the Disneyland medal for a picture w/ all 3 but.... I don't want to scratch it...

You get your Coast to Coast wrist band at packet pickup. They put it on your wrist right there and at the finish line they cut it off and give you the Coast to Coast medal. I'm so excited to be getting my second CtoC!!

Got my girls their flu shots today. DH got his last week and I'll get mine tomorrow. Too many close encounters with people to chance it!

Bring it. I've worn multiple medals around the parks (and on the plane ride home) and as long as you can stand the clanging, they should be fine.

Congrats!!!!

Currently at SSR. We've been going hard in the parks since Saturday so we are going to take it easy today and give our bodies a break. I have a question about the expo and event busses. Do they run the same route as the park busses on property?

I've learned so much from this thread!!

My biggest concern right now is actually getting a nap in before the race!! The whole night race thing has me a bit nervous!

Me too! My friend and I looked at each other on the bus back from EPCOT at 9:30 last night and said "what were we thinking?? :-)

My plan for the whole night racing thing (since I haven't ran at night, besides the ToT 10 miler, which was more of a very hot, humid, miserable walk with a *little* running thrown in) is to do the 5K in the morning, eat, relax, and actually nap as much as possible before the race. I hope to trick my body into thinking its morning :) so I can run and then enjoy the after party.

I just read that the Festival of the Masters will be taking place in Downtown Disney area during the Wine and Dine Marathon Weekend. I guess I need to check that out as well.

I HAD a plan.... :rotfl2: Starting last Saturday I started to "sleep in" a bit and then go to bed a little later. Then this morning my 4yr woke up at 6:15.:confused3 Hoping to restart that plan on thursday! lol.... Making DH do school drop off so I don't have to get up at the crack of dawn...

A nap and being able to sleep in just in general for me...
With two toddlers, sleeping in is a luxury I rarely get. DH is staying at home with the kids, but seems like I always wake up early anyway because my body is so used to it. Then I wonder if excitement and nerves will prevent me from taking a nap.

woot woot! :cool1: Just booked our rental car (nothing like waiting til the last minute but I did score a great last minute deal!)... now I just really need to pack.:lmao: And do at least one more trial run with my fuel belt etc.

Good Luck to all the W&D runners. Have fun. Stay Safe. Remember, the Wine part should come AFTER the run.

Thanks, Coach!

I've got to try out one more shirt possibility in training before the race. I was counting on it being cool enough for my long sleeves but I think I want to have options. :laundy:

DH and I are night owls and do a lot of our training at night, so this race doesn't bother us. Plus, the time change, it feels an hour earlier to us anyway. Last year we were pretty busy on race day, but this year we will take it easier! Last year we went to the kids races, expo, then went to a mobbed MK for the 40th anniversary, then went back to the room for maybe 90 minutes of relaxing before getting ready for W&D. My plan this year is just not to set an alarm on Saturday morning. Get up and eat, go to a park non-commando style, back to the room for a late afternoon nap. Last year I was too excited to sleep, and might be this year as well, but at least I'll put my feet up! We'll probably go down to the buses at 7:15. Since we're going sans child, DH and I can really make our own schedule this year. I'm not sure yet about meals. It will depend how late we sleep on Saturday. I'm thinking a slightly late breakfast, a slightly late lunch, and a big snack instead of dinner. We'll see!

Just checking my packing list to make sure I'm ready to leave tomorrow! :woohoo:

What is the confirmation letter or receipt they talk about needing for the Finish Line Party? Is it just the email or letter that came with the tickets?

Also, I ordered 3 tickets for my family, can I pick up the $10 voucher for all of them or do they need to come to the expo with me?
